يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you of
ٱلنَّاسُ
the populace!
ٱتَّقُوا۟
Be aware
رَبَّكُمُ
of your Rabb,
ٱلَّذِى
the Entity who
خَلَقَكُم
created you
مِّن
from
نَّفْسٍۢ
a psyche
وَٰحِدَةٍۢ
that is singular
وَخَلَقَ
and created
مِنْهَا
from it
زَوْجَهَا
it's partner,
وَبَثَّ
and spread
مِنْهُمَا
from them
رِجَالًۭا
able people
كَثِيرًۭا
a many
وَنِسَآءًۭ
and disabled;
ۚ
وَٱتَّقُوا۟
and be mindful of
ٱللَّهَ
the One,
ٱلَّذِى
the Entity whom
تَسَآءَلُونَ
you ask
بِهِۦ
regarding it,
وَٱلْأَرْحَامَ
and the kindred;
ۚ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
has been
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
رَقِيبًۭا
ever watchful.
٤
١
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ٱتَّقُوا۟ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍۢ وَٰحِدَةٍۢ وَخَلَقَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَبَثَّ مِنْهُمَا رِجَالًۭا كَثِيرًۭا وَنِسَآءًۭ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ٱلَّذِى تَسَآءَلُونَ بِهِۦ وَٱلْأَرْحَامَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًۭا
O you of the populace! Be aware of your Rabb, the Entity who created you from a psyche that is singular and created from it it's partner, and spread from them able people a many and disabled; and be mindful of the One, the Entity whom you ask regarding it, and the kindred; surely the One has been upon you ever watchful.

O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom ye claim (your rights) of one another, and toward the wombs (that bare you). Lo! Allah hath been a watcher over you.

O mankind! Be wary of your Lord who created you from a single soul, and created its mate from it, and from the two of them scattered numerous men and women. Be wary of Allah, in whose Name you adjure one another and [of severing ties with] blood relations. Indeed Allah is watchful over you.

People, have fear of your Lord who has created you from a single soul. From it He created your spouse and through them He populated the land with many men and women. Have fear of the One by whose Name you swear to settle your differences and have respect for your relatives. God certainly keeps watch over you.

O people! be careful of (your duty to) your Lord, Who created you from a single being and created its mate of the same (kind) and spread from these two, many men and women; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, by Whom you demand one of another (your rights), and (to) the ties of relationship; surely Allah ever watches over you.

لوگو! اپنے رب سے ڈرو جس نے تم کو ایک جان سے پیدا کیا اور اُسی جان سے اس کا جوڑا بنایا اور ان دونوں سے بہت مرد و عورت دنیا میں پھیلا دیے اُس خدا سے ڈرو جس کا واسطہ دے کر تم ایک دوسرے سے اپنے حق مانگتے ہو، اور رشتہ و قرابت کے تعلقات کو بگاڑنے سے پرہیز کرو یقین جانو کہ اللہ تم پر نگرانی کر رہا ہے

اے لوگو! اپنے رب سے ڈرو جس نے تمہیں ایک جان سے پیدا کیا اور اسی میں سے اس کا جوڑا بنایا اور ان دونوں سے بہت سے مرد و عورت پھیلا دیئے اور اللہ سے ڈرو جس کے نام پر مانگتے ہو اور رشتوں کا لحاظ رکھو بیشک اللہ ہر وقت تمہیں دیکھ رہا ہے،

(اے انسانو!) اپنے اس پروردگار سے ڈرو۔ جس نے تمہیں ایک متنفس سے پیدا کیا اور اس کا جوڑا بھی اسی سے (اس کی جنس سے) پیدا کیا اور پھر انہی دونوں سے بہت سے مردوں اور عورتوں کو پھیلا دیا۔ اللہ سے ڈرو جس کا واسطہ دے کر ایک دوسرے سے سوال کرتے ہو۔ اور رشتہ قرابت کے بارے میں بھی ڈرو۔ بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ تم پر حاضر و ناظر ہے۔

وَءَاتُوا۟
And handover to
ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰٓ
the orphans
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their possessions,
ۖ
وَلَا
and do not
تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟
bring in
ٱلْخَبِيثَ
the putrid
بِٱلطَّيِّبِ
instead of the pure,
ۖ
وَلَا
and do not
تَأْكُلُوٓا۟
assimilate
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their belongings
إِلَىٰٓ
towards
أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ
your wealth;
ۚ
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed it
كَانَ
has been
حُوبًۭا
a sin
كَبِيرًۭا
of great magnitude.
٤
٢
وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَتَبَدَّلُوا۟ ٱلْخَبِيثَ بِٱلطَّيِّبِ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوٓا۟ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَمْوَٰلِكُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حُوبًۭا كَبِيرًۭا
And handover to the orphans their possessions, and do not bring in the putrid instead of the pure, and do not assimilate their belongings towards your wealth; indeed it has been a sin of great magnitude.

⦿
Give unto orphans their wealth. Exchange not the good for the bad (in your management thereof) nor absorb their wealth into your own wealth. Lo! that would be a great sin.

Give the orphans their property, and do not replace the good with the bad, and do not eat up their property [by mingling it] with your own property, for that is indeed a great sin.

⦿
Give to the orphans their property. Do not exchange the pure for the filthy and do not spend the property of orphans along with your own; this would be a great sin.

And give to the orphans their property, and do not substitute worthless (things) for (their) good (ones), and do not devour their property (as an addition) to your own property; this is surely a great crime.

یتیموں کے مال اُن کو واپس دو، اچھے مال کو برے مال سے نہ بدل لو، اور اُن کے مال اپنے مال کے ساتھ ملا کر نہ کھا جاؤ، یہ بہت بڑا گناہ ہے

اور یتیموں کو ان کے مال دو اور ستھرے کے بدلے گندا نہ لو اور ان کے مال اپنے مالوں میں ملاکر نہ کھا جاؤ، بیشک یہ بڑا گناہ ہے

وَإِنْ
And if
خِفْتُمْ
you happen to be fearful
أَلَّا
that not
تُقْسِطُوا۟
you will be able to do justice
فِى
within (matters of)
ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
the orphans,
فَٱنكِحُوا۟
then [bring into family] / [be closely associated to]
مَا
what
طَابَ
is suitable
لَكُم
to you
مِّنَ
from
ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the weak ones
مَثْنَىٰ
in twos,
وَثُلَٰثَ
and threes,
وَرُبَٰعَ
and fours;
ۖ
فَإِنْ
but if
خِفْتُمْ
you are fearful
أَلَّا
that not
تَعْدِلُوا۟
you will be fair
فَوَٰحِدَةً
then one,
أَوْ
or
مَا
who
مَلَكَتْ
possesses
أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ
your trusts,
ۚ
ذَٰلِكَ
that is
أَدْنَىٰٓ
at the very least
أَلَّا
that not
تَعُولُوا۟
you deviate.
٤
٣
وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تُقْسِطُوا۟ فِى ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ فَٱنكِحُوا۟ مَا طَابَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ مَثْنَىٰ وَثُلَٰثَ وَرُبَٰعَ ۖ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ فَوَٰحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُكُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعُولُوا۟
And if you happen to be fearful that not you will be able to do justice within (matters of) the orphans, then [bring into family] / [be closely associated to] what is suitable to you from the weak ones in twos, and threes, and fours; but if you are fearful that not you will be fair then one, or who possesses your trusts, that is at the very least that not you deviate.

And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans, marry of the women, who seem good to you, two or three or four; and if ye fear that ye cannot do justice (to so many) then one (only) or (the captives) that your right hands possess. Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice.

If you fear that you may not deal justly with the orphans, then marry [other] women that you like, two, three, or four. But if you fear that you may not treat them fairly, then [marry only] one, or [marry from among] your slave-women. That makes it likelier that you will not be unfair.

With respect to marrying widows, if you are afraid of not being able to maintain justice with her children, marry another woman of your choice or two or three or four (who have no children). If you cannot maintain equality with more than one wife, marry only one or your slave-girl. This keeps you from acting against justice.

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you, two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.

If you fear that you cannot deal fairly with orphan girls, you may marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that you might not be able to treat them with equal fairness, then only one -- or [from among] those whom you rightfully possess. That is more likely to keep you from committing an injustice.

اور اگر یتیموں کے بارے میں انصاف نہ کرسکنے کا خطرہ ہے تو جو عورتیں تمہیں پسند ہیں دو. تین. چار ان سے نکاح کرلو اور اگر ان میں بھی انصاف نہ کرسکنے کا خطرہ ہے تو صرف ایک... یا جو کنیزیں تمہارے ہاتھ کی ملکیت ہیں, یہ بات انصاف سے تجاوز نہ کرنے سے قریب تر ہے

اور اگر تم یتیموں کے ساتھ بے انصافی کرنے سے ڈرتے ہو تو جو عورتیں تم کو پسند آئیں اُن میں سے دو دو، تین تین، چار چار سے نکاح کرلو لیکن اگر تمہیں اندیشہ ہو کہ اُن کے ساتھ عدل نہ کر سکو گے تو پھر ایک ہی بیوی کرو یا اُن عورتوں کو زوجیت میں لاؤ جو تمہارے قبضہ میں آئی ہیں، بے انصافی سے بچنے کے لیے یہ زیادہ قرین صواب ہے

ا ور اگر تمہیں اندیشہ ہو کہ یتیم لڑکیوں میں انصاف نہ کرو گے تو نکاح میں لاؤ جو عورتیں تمہیں خوش آئیں دو دو اور تین تین او ر چار چار پھر اگر ڈرو کہ دو بیبیوں کو برابر نہ رکھ سکو گے تو ایک ہی کرو یا کنیزیں جن کے تم مالک ہو یہ اس سے زیادہ قریب ہے کہ تم سے ظلم نہ ہو

اور اگر تمہیں یہ خوف ہو کہ تم یتیموں کے ساتھ انصاف نہیں کر سکوگے۔ تو جو عورتیں تمہیں پسند ہوں ان سے نکاح کر لو دو دو، تین تین، چار چار سے اور اگر تمہیں اندیشہ ہو کہ (ان کے ساتھ) عدل نہ کر سکوگے تو پھر ایک ہی (بیوی) کرو۔ یا جو تمہاری ملکیت میں ہوں (ان پر اکتفا کرو) یہ زیادہ قریب ہے اس کے کہ بے انصافی نہ کرو۔ (ایک ہی طرف نہ جھک جاؤ)۔

And give to
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
the weak ones
صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ
their attested amount
نِحْلَةًۭ
in a gradual manner;
ۚ
فَإِن
then if
طِبْنَ
relents
لَكُمْ
for you
عَن
from
شَىْءٍۢ
a thing
مِّنْهُ
from it
نَفْسًۭا
by ownself,
فَكُلُوهُ
then have it
هَنِيٓـًۭٔا
comfortably,
مَّرِيٓـًۭٔا
being upstanding.
٤
٤
وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ صَدُقَٰتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةًۭ ۚ فَإِن طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَن شَىْءٍۢ مِّنْهُ نَفْسًۭا فَكُلُوهُ هَنِيٓـًۭٔا مَّرِيٓـًۭٔا
And give to the weak ones their attested amount in a gradual manner; then if relents for you from a thing from it by ownself, then have it comfortably, being upstanding.

⦿
And give unto the women (whom ye marry) free gift of their marriage portions; but if they of their own accord remit unto you a part thereof, then ye are welcome to absorb it (in your wealth).

Give women their dowries, handing it over to them; but if they remit anything of it of their own accord, then consume it as [something] lawful and wholesome.

Pay the women their dowry as though it were a gift. However, if they allow you to keep a part of it as a favor to you, you may spend it with pleasure.

And give women their dowries as a free gift, but if they of themselves be pleased to give up to you a portion of it, then eat it with enjoyment and with wholesome result.

لَكُمْ
for you
قِيَٰمًۭا
to manage,
وَٱرْزُقُوهُمْ
and provide for them
فِيهَا
from it,
وَٱكْسُوهُمْ
and clothe them,
وَقُولُوا۟
and say
لَهُمْ
to them
قَوْلًۭا
words of
مَّعْرُوفًۭا
honour.
٤
٥
وَلَا تُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمْوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِى جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ قِيَٰمًۭا وَٱرْزُقُوهُمْ فِيهَا وَٱكْسُوهُمْ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًۭا مَّعْرُوفًۭا
And do not handover the immature your belongings, the ones which have been determined by the One for you to manage, and provide for them from it, and clothe them, and say to them words of honour.

Give not unto the foolish (what is in) your (keeping of their) wealth, which Allah hath given you to maintain; but feed and clothe them from it, and speak kindly unto them.

And test
ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
the orphans
حَتَّىٰٓ
till
إِذَا

بَلَغُوا۟
they attain age of
ٱلنِّكَاحَ
the legal contract,
فَإِنْ
then if
ءَانَسْتُم
you sense
مِّنْهُمْ
from them
رُشْدًۭا
maturity
فَٱدْفَعُوٓا۟
then payback
إِلَيْهِمْ
towards them
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their wealth;
ۖ
وَلَا
and do not
تَأْكُلُوهَآ
consume it
إِسْرَافًۭا
wastefully
وَبِدَارًا
and hastely
أَن
(thinking) that
يَكْبَرُوا۟
[…they will grow up…];
ۚ
وَمَن
and whoever
كَانَ
was
غَنِيًّۭا
sufficient
فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ
thus should abstain,
ۖ
وَمَن
and whoever
كَانَ
had been
فَقِيرًۭا
poor
فَلْيَأْكُلْ
thus may consume
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ
with definite articulation;
ۚ
فَإِذَا
then whenever
دَفَعْتُمْ
you handover
إِلَيْهِمْ
towards them
أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ
their property
فَأَشْهِدُوا۟
thus take certification (of handing over property)
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them;
ۚ
وَكَفَىٰ
and suffice
بِٱللَّهِ
with the One
حَسِيبًۭا
as a calculator.
٤
٦
وَٱبْتَلُوا۟ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغُوا۟ ٱلنِّكَاحَ فَإِنْ ءَانَسْتُم مِّنْهُمْ رُشْدًۭا فَٱدْفَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا تَأْكُلُوهَآ إِسْرَافًۭا وَبِدَارًا أَن يَكْبَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن كَانَ غَنِيًّۭا فَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْ ۖ وَمَن كَانَ فَقِيرًۭا فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِذَا دَفَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ فَأَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ حَسِيبًۭا
And test the orphans till when they attain age of the legal contract, then if you sense from them maturity then payback towards them their wealth; and do not consume it wastefully and hastely (thinking) that […they will grow up…]; and whoever was sufficient thus should abstain, and whoever had been poor thus may consume with definite articulation; then whenever you handover towards them their property thus take certification (of handing over property) upon them; and suffice with the One as a calculator.

Prove orphans till they reach the marriageable age; then, if ye find them of sound judgment, deliver over unto them their fortune; and devour it not by squandering and in haste lest they should grow up Whoso (of the guardians) is rich, let him abstain generously (from taking of the property of orphans); and whoso is poor let him take thereof in reason (for his guardianship). And when ye deliver up their fortune unto orphans, have (the transaction) witnessed in their presence. Allah sufficeth as a Reckoner.

Test the orphans when they reach the age of marriage. Then if you discern in them maturity, deliver to them their property. And do not consume it lavishly and hastily lest they should grow up. As for him who is well-off, let him be abstemious, and as for him who is poor, let him eat in an honourable manner. And when you deliver to them their property, take witnesses over them, and Allah suffices as reckoner.

Before returning orphan's property to them, make sure that they have reached maturity. Do not consume their property wastefully until such a time. The rich (guardian) should not take any of his ward's property. However, a poor (guardian) may use a reasonable portion. When you return their property, make sure you have witness. God is a perfect in taking accounts.

And test the orphans until they attain puberty; then if you find in them maturity of intellect, make over to them their property, and do not consume it extravagantly and hastily, lest they attain to full age; and whoever is rich, let him abstain altogether, and whoever is poor, let him eat reasonably; then when you make over to them their property, call witnesses in their presence; and Allah is enough as a Reckoner.

Keep a close check on orphans till they attain the age of marriage; then, if you find them to be mature of mind, hand over their property to them. Do not consume it by wasteful spending, before they come of age. If the guardian is affluent, let him abstain altogether, and if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When you hand over their property to them, call witnesses in their presence; God is sufficient as a Reckoner.

اور یتیموں کا امتحان لو اور جب وہ نکاح کے قابل ہوجائیں تو اگر ان میں رشید ہونے کا احساس کروتو ان کے اموال ان کے حوالے کردو اور زیادتی کے ساتھ یا اس خوف سے کہ کہیں وہ بڑے نہ ہوجائیں جلدی جلدی نہ کھاجاؤ ... اور تم میں جو غنی ہے وہ ان کے مال سے پرہیز کرے اور جو فقیر ہے وہ بھی صرف بقدر مناسب کھائے- پھر جب ان کے اموال ان کے حوالے کرو تو گواہ بنالو اور خدا تو حساب کے لئے خود ہی کافی ہے

اور یتیموں کی آزمائش کرتے رہو یہاں تک کہ وہ نکاح کے قابل عمر کو پہنچ جائیں پھر اگر تم اُن کے اندر اہلیت پاؤ تو اُن کے مال اُن کے حوالے کر دو ایسا کبھی نہ کرنا کہ حد انصاف سے تجاوز کر کے اِس خوف سے اُن کے مال جلدی جلدی کھا جاؤ کہ وہ بڑے ہو کر اپنے حق کا مطالبہ کریں گے یتیم کا جو سرپرست مال دار ہو وہ پرہیز گاری سے کام لے اور جو غریب ہو وہ معروف طریقہ سے کھائے پھر جب اُن کے مال اُن کے حوالے کرنے لگو تو لوگوں کو اس پر گواہ بنا لو، اور حساب لینے کے لیے اللہ کافی ہے

اور یتیموں کی جانچ پڑتال کرتے رہو۔ یہاں تک کہ جب وہ نکاح کی عمر تک پہنچ جائیں اور تم ان میں اہلیت و سمجھداری بھی پاؤ تو پھر ان کے مال ان کے حوالے کر دو۔ اور فضول خرچی سے کام لے کر اور اس جلد بازی میں کہ وہ کہیں بڑے نہ ہو جائیں ان کا مال مت کھاؤ۔ اور جو سرپرست مالدار ہو تو اسے تو بہرحال ان کے مال سے پرہیز ہی کرنا چاہیے۔ اور جو نادار ہو اسے معروف (مناسب) طریقہ سے کھانا چاہیے۔ پھر جب ان کے مال ان کے حوالے کرو۔ تو ان لوگوں کو گواہ بنا لو۔ اور یوں تو حساب کے لیے اللہ ہی کافی ہے۔

For the able,
نَصِيبٌۭ
a share

ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ

وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ
and the close ones,
وَلِلنِّسَآءِ
and for the weak ones
نَصِيبٌۭ
a share
مِّمَّا
from what
تَرَكَ
left behind
ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ
the parents
وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ
and the close ones
مِمَّا
of what
قَلَّ
is little
مِنْهُ
from it
أَوْ
or
كَثُرَ
many;
ۚ
نَصِيبًۭا
a share
مَّفْرُوضًۭا
that is imposed.
٤
٧
لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌۭ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌۭ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ وَٱلْأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ ۚ نَصِيبًۭا مَّفْرُوضًۭا
For the able, a share from what left behind the parents and the close ones, and for the weak ones a share from what left behind the parents and the close ones of what is little from it or many; a share that is imposed.

Unto the men (of a family) belongeth a share of that which parents and near kindred leave, and unto the women a share of that which parents and near kindred leave, whether it be little or much - a legal share.

And when
حَضَرَ
are present at
ٱلْقِسْمَةَ
the distribution
أُو۟لُوا۟
the foremost of
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
the ones in proximity,
وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
and the orphans,
وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينُ
and the homeless,
فَٱرْزُقُوهُم
then provide for them
مِّنْهُ
from it
وَقُولُوا۟
and say
لَهُمْ
to them
قَوْلًۭا
words of
مَّعْرُوفًۭا
acknowledgement.
٤
٨
وَإِذَا حَضَرَ ٱلْقِسْمَةَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينُ فَٱرْزُقُوهُم مِّنْهُ وَقُولُوا۟ لَهُمْ قَوْلًۭا مَّعْرُوفًۭا
And when are present at the distribution the foremost of the ones in proximity, and the orphans, and the homeless, then provide for them from it and say to them words of acknowledgement.

And when kinsfolk and orphans and the needy are present at the division (of the heritage), bestow on them therefrom and speak kindly unto them.

And let fear
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
لَوْ
may
تَرَكُوا۟
leave
مِنْ
from
خَلْفِهِمْ
behind them
ذُرِّيَّةًۭ
a progeny
ضِعَٰفًا
that is feeble,
خَافُوا۟
being afraid
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them,
فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟
thus let them be aware of
ٱللَّهَ
the One,
وَلْيَقُولُوا۟
and let them say
قَوْلًۭا
words of
سَدِيدًا
reaching out.
٤
٩
وَلْيَخْشَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَوْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّةًۭ ضِعَٰفًا خَافُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلْيَتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلْيَقُولُوا۟ قَوْلًۭا سَدِيدًا
And let fear the ones who may leave from behind them a progeny that is feeble, being afraid upon them, thus let them be aware of the One, and let them say words of reaching out.

⦿
And let those fear (in their behaviour toward orphans) who if they left behind them weak offspring would be afraid for them. So let them mind their duty to Allah, and speak justly.

Let those fear [the result of mistreating orphans] who, were they to leave behind weak offspring, would be concerned on their account. So let them be wary of Allah, and let them speak upright words.

Those who are concerned about the welfare of their own children after their death, should have fear of God (when dealing with the orphans) and guide them properly.

And let those fear who, should they leave behind them weakly offspring, would fear on their account, so let them be careful of (their duty to) Allah, and let them speak right words.

Those who are concerned about the fate of their own helpless children if they should die and leave them behind should show the same concern for orphans. Let them fear God and uphold justice.

لوگوں کو اس بات کا خیال کر کے ڈرنا چاہیے کہ اگر وہ خود اپنے پیچھے بے بس اولاد چھوڑتے تو مرتے وقت انہیں اپنے بچوں کے حق میں کیسے کچھ اندیشے لاحق ہوتے پس چاہیے کہ وہ خدا کا خوف کریں اور راستی کی بات کریں

Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
يَأْكُلُونَ
consume
أَمْوَٰلَ
properties of
ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ
the orphans
ظُلْمًا
unjustly,
إِنَّمَا
it is that what
يَأْكُلُونَ
they consume
فِى
in
بُطُونِهِمْ
their bellies
نَارًۭا
is as fire;
ۖ
وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ
and they will be joined up
سَعِيرًۭا
as maniacs.
٤
١٠
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ ظُلْمًا إِنَّمَا يَأْكُلُونَ فِى بُطُونِهِمْ نَارًۭا ۖ وَسَيَصْلَوْنَ سَعِيرًۭا
Surely the ones who consume properties of the orphans unjustly, it is that what they consume in their bellies is as fire; and they will be joined up as maniacs.

Lo! Those who devour the wealth of orphans wrongfully, they do but swallow fire into their bellies, and they will be exposed to burning flame.

ٱللَّهُ
the One

your offsprings;

a portion of
ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ
the two females;
ۚ
فَإِن
then if

فَوْقَ
more than
ٱثْنَتَيْنِ
two,
فَلَهُنَّ
then for them (females)
ثُلُثَا
a third of
مَا
what is
تَرَكَ
left behind;

as being beneficial;

فَرِيضَةًۭ
an enforcement
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
ۗ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
had been
عَلِيمًا
knowing,
حَكِيمًۭا
been of wisdom.

١١
يُوصِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِىٓ أَوْلَٰدِكُمْ ۖ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ ٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۚ فَإِن كُنَّ نِسَآءًۭ فَوْقَ ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَ ۖ وَإِن كَانَتْ وَٰحِدَةًۭ فَلَهَا ٱلنِّصْفُ ۚ وَلِأَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍۢ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ إِن كَانَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلَدٌۭ وَوَرِثَهُۥٓ أَبَوَاهُ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلثُّلُثُ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُۥٓ إِخْوَةٌۭ فَلِأُمِّهِ ٱلسُّدُسُ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصِى بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ ۗ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ لَا تَدْرُونَ أَيُّهُمْ أَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعًۭا ۚ فَرِيضَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا
Has enjoined the One in your offsprings; for the male like a portion of the two females; then if were females more than two, then for them (females) a third of what is left behind; and if was a singular female then for her the half; and for parents for each one from both of them sixth part from what is left behind if was for him (deceased) a child; then if does not exists for him (deceased) a child, and inherit it his parents then for his mother the one third; then if was for him a sibling then for his mother one sixth; from after execution of his will regarding it, or (execution) of debts; your parents and your children, not you have knowledge of which of them is closer for you as being beneficial; an enforcement from the One; surely the One had been knowing, been of wisdom.

Allah chargeth you concerning (the provision for) your children: to the male the equivalent of the portion of two females, and if there be women more than two, then theirs is two-thirds of the inheritance, and if there be one (only) then the half. And to each of his parents a sixth of the inheritance, if he have a son; and if he have no son and his parents are his heirs, then to his mother appertaineth the third; and if he have brethren, then to his mother appertaineth the sixth, after any legacy he may have bequeathed, or debt (hath been paid). Your parents and your children: Ye know not which of them is nearer unto you in usefulness. It is an injunction from Allah. Lo! Allah is Knower, Wise.

This is a commandment from your Lord: After the payment of debts or anything bequeathed, let the male inherit twice as much as the female. If there are more than two girls, they will have two-thirds of the legacy. If there is only one girl, she will inherit half of the legacy. Parents of the deceased will each inherit one-sixth of the legacy, if the deceased has a surviving child, however, if no children survive the deceased, and the heirs are the parents, the mother will receive one-third of the legacy. The mother will receive one-sixth of the legacy if the deceased has more than one surviving brother. These are the decreed shares according to the laws of God. Regardless of how you feel about your parents or children, you do not know which of them is more beneficial to you. God is All-knowing and All-wise.

اللہ تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں تمہیں ہدایت فرماتا ہے، ایک لڑکے کا حصہ دو لڑکیوں کے حصے کے برابر ہے، پس اگر لڑکیاں دو سے زائد ہوں تو ترکے کا دو تہائی ان کا حق ہے اور اگر صرف ایک لڑکی ہے تو نصف (ترکہ) اس کا ہے اور میت کی اولاد ہونے کی صورت میں والدین میں سے ہر ایک کو ترکے کا چھٹا حصہ ملے گا اور اگر میت کی اولاد نہ ہو بلکہ صرف ماں باپ اس کے وارث ہوں تواس کی ماں کو تیسرا حصہ ملے گا، پس اگر میت کے بھائی ہوں تو ماں کوچھٹا حصہ ملے گا، یہ تقسیم میت کی وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور اس کے قرض کی ادائیگی کے بعد ہو گی، تمہیں نہیں معلوم تمہارے والدین اور تمہاری اولاد میں فائدے کے حوالے سے کون تمہارے زیادہ قریب ہے، یہ حصے اللہ کے مقرر کردہ ہیں، یقینا اللہ بڑا جاننے والا، باحکمت ہے

تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں اللہ تمہیں ہدایت کرتا ہے کہ: مرد کا حصہ دو عورتوں کے برابر ہے، اگر (میت کی وارث) دو سے زائد لڑکیاں ہوں تو انہیں ترکے کا دو تہائی دیا جائے، اور اگر ایک ہی لڑکی وارث ہو تو آدھا ترکہ اس کا ہے اگر میت صاحب اولاد ہو تواس کے والدین میں سے ہر ایک کو ترکے کا چھٹا حصہ ملنا چاہیے اور اگر وہ صاحب اولاد نہ ہو اور والدین ہی اس کے وارث ہو ں تو ماں کو تیسرا حصہ دیا جائے اور اگر میت کے بھائی بہن بھی ہوں تو ماں چھٹے حصہ کی حق دار ہوگی (یہ سب حصے اُس وقت نکالے جائیں) جبکہ وصیت جو میت نے کی ہو پوری کر دی جائے اور قرض جو اُس پر ہو ادا کر دیا جائے تم نہیں جانتے کہ تمہارے ماں باپ اور تمہاری اولاد میں سے کون بلحاظ نفع تم سے قریب تر ہے یہ حصے اللہ نے مقرر کر دیے ہیں، اور اللہ یقیناً سب حقیقتوں سے واقف اور ساری مصلحتوں کا جاننے والا ہے

اللہ تمہیں حکم دیتا ہے تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں بیٹے کا حصہ دو بیٹیوں برابر ہے پھر اگر نری لڑکیاں ہوں اگرچہ دو سے اوپر تو ان کو ترکہ کی دو تہائی اور اگر ایک لڑکی ہو تو اس کا آدھا اور میت کے ماں باپ کو ہر ایک کو اس کے ترکہ سے چھٹا اگر میت کے اولاد ہو پھر اگر اس کی اولاد نہ ہو اور ماں باپ چھوڑے تو ماں کا تہا ئی پھر اگر اس کے کئی بہن بھا ئی ہو ں تو ماں کا چھٹا بعد اس و صیت کے جو کر گیا اور دین کے تمہارے باپ اور تمہارے بیٹے تم کیا جانو کہ ان میں کون تمہارے زیادہ کام آئے گا یہ حصہ باندھا ہوا ہے اللہ کی طرف سے بیشک اللہ علم والا حکمت والا ہے،

اللہ تمہاری اولاد کے بارے میں تمہیں ہدایت کرتا ہے کہ لڑکے کا حصہ برابر ہے دو لڑکیوں کے اب اگر لڑکیاں ہی وارث ہوں اور ہوں بھی دو سے اوپر تو ان کو دو تہائی ترکہ دیا جائے گا اور ایک لڑکی (وارث) ہو تو اسے آدھا ترکہ دیا جائے گا۔ اور اگر میت صاحب اولاد ہو تو اس کے والدین میں سے ہر ایک کے لئے ترکہ کا چھٹا حصہ ہوگا (اور باقی اولاد کا) اور اگر بے اولاد ہو۔ اور اس کے والدین ہی اس کے وارث ہوں تو اس کی ماں کو تیسرا حصہ ملے گا (باقی / باپ کو ملے گا) اور اگر اس (مرنے والے) کے بھائی (بہن) ہوں تو پھر اس کی ماں کو چھٹا حصہ ملے گا (باقی / بہن بھائیوں کو ملے گا) مگر یہ تقسیم اس وقت ہوگی، جب میت کی وصیت پوری کر دی جائے۔ جو وہ کر گیا ہو اور اس کا قرضہ ادا کر دیا جائے گا جو اس پر ہو۔ تم نہیں جانتے کہ تمہارے ماں باپ یا تمہاری اولاد میں سے نفع رسانی کے لحاظ سے کون تمہارے زیادہ قریب ہے۔ یہ حصے اللہ کی طرف سے مقرر ہیں، یقینا اللہ بڑا جاننے والا اور بڑا حکمت والا ہے۔

يُوصَىٰ
their will
بِهَآ
about it,
أَوْ
or
دَيْنٍ
of debt,
غَيْرَ
without
مُضَآرٍّۢ
prejudice;
ۚ
وَصِيَّةًۭ
an enjoinment
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
ۗ
وَٱللَّهُ
and the One is
عَلِيمٌ
knowledged,
حَلِيمٌۭ
patient.
٤
١٢
وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ أَزْوَٰجُكُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّهُنَّ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۭ فَلَكُمُ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصِينَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍۢ ۚ وَلَهُنَّ ٱلرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ إِن لَّمْ يَكُن لَّكُمْ وَلَدٌۭ ۚ فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۭ فَلَهُنَّ ٱلثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُم ۚ مِّنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ تُوصُونَ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍۢ ۗ وَإِن كَانَ رَجُلٌۭ يُورَثُ كَلَٰلَةً أَوِ ٱمْرَأَةٌۭ وَلَهُۥٓ أَخٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌۭ فَلِكُلِّ وَٰحِدٍۢ مِّنْهُمَا ٱلسُّدُسُ ۚ فَإِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِن ذَٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَآءُ فِى ٱلثُّلُثِ ۚ مِنۢ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍۢ يُوصَىٰ بِهَآ أَوْ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ مُضَآرٍّۢ ۚ وَصِيَّةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَلِيمٌۭ
And for you half of what left behind your (female) spouses if not exists for them (females) a child; then if was for them a child, then for you the one fourth of what they left; from after execution of their will regarding it, or (execution) of debt; and for them (female spouses) one fourth of what you leave behind if not exists for you a child; then if was for you a child then for them (females) an eighth of what you leave behind; from after execution of your will about it, or of debt; and if was a man inheriting — without children or parents — or a woman, and for him (or her) is brother or sister then for each one from them both the one sixth; then if they were more from that, then they are partners in the one third; from after execution of their will about it, or of debt, without prejudice; an enjoinment from the One; and the One is knowledged, patient.

And unto you belongeth a half of that which your wives leave, if they have no child; but if they have a child then unto you the fourth of that which they leave, after any legacy they may have bequeathed, or debt (they may have contracted, hath been paid). And unto them belongeth the fourth of that which ye leave if ye have no child, but if ye have a child then the eighth of that which ye leave, after any legacy ye may have bequeathed, or debt (ye may have contracted, hath been paid). And if a man or a woman have a distant heir (having left neither parent nor child), and he (or she) have a brother or a sister (only on the mother's side) then to each of them twain (the brother and the sister) the sixth, and if they be more than two, then they shall be sharers in the third, after any legacy that may have been bequeathed or debt (contracted) not injuring (the heirs by willing away more than a third of the heritage) hath been paid. A commandment from Allah. Allah is Knower, Indulgent.

If your wives die without any surviving children, you will inherit half of their legacy. If they have children, you will inherit one-fourth of their legacy after the debts and things bequeathed have been excluded from the legacy. After the payment of debts and things bequeathed have been excluded from the legacy, your wives will inherit one-fourth of your legacy if you have no surviving children. If you leave a child, they will inherit one eighth of your legacy. If the deceased, either male or female, has no surviving heirs such as parents or children but has a brother or a sister, the brother or sister will each inherit one-sixth of the legacy. If there are more than just a brother or a sister, they will share one-third of the legacy. This is after the payment of any debts and things bequeathed have been excluded from the legacy, so that no one will be caused to suffer any loss. It is a guide from God, the All-knowing and Forbearing.

اور تمہیںاپنی بیویوں کے ترکے میں سے اگر ان کی اولاد نہ ہو نصف حصہ ملے گا اور اگر ان کی اولاد ہو تو ان کے ترکے میں سے چوتھائی تمہارا ہو گا، یہ تقسیم میت کی وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی اور تمہاری اولاد نہ ہو تو انہیں تمہارے ترکے میں سے چوتھائی ملے گااور اگر تمہاری اولاد ہو تو انہیں تمہارے ترکے میںسے آٹھواں حصہ ملے گا، یہ تقسیم تمہاری وصیت پر عمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی اور اگر کوئی مرد یا عورت بے اولادہو اور والدین بھی زندہ نہ ہوں اور اس کا ایک بھائی یا ایک بہن ہو تو بھائی اور بہن میں سے ہر ایک کو چھٹا حصہ ملے گا، پس اگر بہن بھائی ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو سب ایک تہائی حصے میں شریک ہوں گے، یہ تقسیم وصیت پرعمل کرنے اور قرض ادا کرنے کے بعد ہو گی، بشرطیکہ ضرر رساں نہ ہو، یہ نصیحت اللہ کی طرف سے ہے اور اللہ بڑا دانا، بردبار ہے

اور تمہاری بیویوں نے جو کچھ چھوڑا ہو اس کا آدھا حصہ تمہیں ملے گا اگر وہ بے اولاد ہوں، ورنہ اولاد ہونے کی صورت میں ترکہ کا ایک چوتھائی حصہ تمہارا ہے جبکہ وصیت جو انہوں ں نے کی ہو پوری کر دی جائے، اور قرض جو اُنہوں نے چھوڑا ہو ادا کر دیا جائے اور وہ تمہارے ترکہ میں سے چوتھائی کی حق دار ہوں گی اگر تم بے اولاد ہو، ورنہ صاحب اولاد ہونے کی صورت میں اُن کا حصہ آٹھواں ہوگا، بعد اس کے کہ جو وصیت تم نے کی ہو وہ پوری کر دی جائے اور جو قرض تم نے چھوڑا ہو وہ ادا کر دیا جائے اور اگر وہ مرد یا عورت (جس کی میراث تقسیم طلب ہے) بے اولاد بھی ہو اور اس کے ماں باپ بھی زندہ نہ ہوں، مگر اس کا ایک بھائی یا ایک بہن موجود ہو تو بھائی اور بہن ہر ایک کو چھٹا حصہ ملے گا، اور بھائی بہن ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو کل ترکہ کے ایک تہائی میں وہ سب شریک ہوں گے، جبکہ وصیت جو کی گئی ہو پوری کر دی جائے، اور قرض جو میت نے چھوڑا ہو ادا کر دیا جائے، بشر طیکہ وہ ضرر رساں نہ ہو یہ حکم ہے اللہ کی طرف سے اور اللہ دانا و بینا اور نرم خو ہے

اور تمہاری بیبیاں جو چھوڑ جائیں اس میں سے تمہیں آدھا ہے اگر ان کی اولاد نہ ہو، پھر اگر ان کی اولاد ہو تو ان کے ترکہ میں سے تمہیں چوتھائی ہے جو وصیت وہ کر گئیں اور دَین نکال کر اور تمہارے ترکہ میں عورتوں کا چوتھائی ہے اگر تمہارے اولاد نہ ہو پھر اگر تمہارے اولاد ہو تو ان کا تمہارے ترکہ میں سے آٹھواں جو وصیت تم کر جاؤ اور دین نکال کر، اور اگر کسی ایسے مرد یا عورت کا ترکہ بٹنا ہو جس نے ماں باپ اولاد کچھ نہ چھوڑے اور ماں کی طرف سے اس کا بھائی یا بہن ہے تو ان میں سے ہر ایک کو چھٹا پھر اگر وہ بہن بھائی ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو سب تہائی میں شریک ہیں میت کی وصیت اور دین نکال کر جس میں اس نے نقصان نہ پہنچایا ہو یہ اللہ کا ارشاد ہے اور اللہ علم والا حلم والا ہے،

اور جو ترکہ تمہاری بیویاں چھوڑ جائیں اس میں سے آدھا تمہارے لئے ہوگا اگر ان کی اولاد نہ ہو اور اگر ان کے اولاد ہو تو پھر تمہیں ان کے ترکہ کا چوتھا حصہ ملے گا۔ یہ تقسیم اس وصیت کو پورا کرنے کے بعد ہوگی، جو انہوں نے کی ہو اور اس قرضہ کی ادائیگی کے بعد جو ان کے ذمہ ہو۔ اور وہ (بیویاں) تمہارے ترکہ میں سے چوتھے حصہ کی حقدار ہوں گی۔ اگر تمہاری اولاد نہ ہو۔ اور اگر تمہارے اولاد ہو تو پھر ان کا آٹھواں حصہ ہوگا اور (یہ تقسیم) اس وصیت کو پورا کرنے کے بعد ہوگی جو تم نے کی ہو اور اس قرض کو ادا کرنے کے بعد جو تم نے چھوڑا ہو۔ اور اگر میت (جس کی وراثت تقسیم کی جانے والی ہے) کلالہ ہو یعنی مرد ہو یا عورت بے اولاد ہو اور اس کے ماں باپ نہ ہوں۔ مگر بھائی بہن ہوں تو اگر اس کا صرف ایک بھائی یا ایک بہن موجود ہو تو بھائی یا بہن کو چھٹا حصہ ملے گا۔ اور اگر بھائی بہن ایک سے زیادہ ہوں تو پھر وہ کل ترکہ کی ایک تہائی میں برابر کے شریک ہوں گے۔ مگر (یہ تقسیم) اس وصیت کو پورا کرنے اور قرضہ کے ادا کرنے کے بعد ہوگی جو کی گئی (جبکہ وصیت کرنے والا وارثوں کو) ضرر پہنچانے کے درپے نہ ہو۔ یہ اللہ کی طرف سے لازمی ہدایت ہے، اور اللہ بڑے علم و حلم والا ہے۔

These are
حُدُودُ
limits of
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
ۚ
وَمَن
and whoever

and His messenger,
يُدْخِلْهُ
He will make them enter
جَنَّٰتٍۢ
gardens,
تَجْرِى
flowing
مِن
of
تَحْتِهَا
under them
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
rivers,
خَٰلِدِينَ
eternalized
فِيهَا
therein;
ۚ
وَذَٰلِكَ
and that is
ٱلْفَوْزُ
the victory
ٱلْعَظِيمُ
that is most magnificent.

١٣
تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
These are limits of the One; and whoever conforms to the One and His messenger, He will make them enter gardens, flowing of under them rivers, eternalized therein; and that is the victory that is most magnificent.

These are the limits (imposed by) Allah. Whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, where such will dwell for ever. That will be the great success.

He will enter him in
نَارًا
a fire,
خَٰلِدًۭا
eternalized
فِيهَا
therein,
وَلَهُۥ
and for him
عَذَابٌۭ
a punishment of
مُّهِينٌۭ
humiliation.
٤
١٤
وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَٰلِدًۭا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌۭ مُّهِينٌۭ
And whoever opposes the One and His messenger, transgresses His limits, He will enter him in a fire, eternalized therein, and for him a punishment of humiliation.

And whoso disobeyeth Allah and His messenger and transgresseth His limits, He will make him enter Fire, where he will dwell for ever; his will be a shameful doom.

وَٱلَّٰتِى
And the ones
يَأْتِينَ
who produce
ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ
the public obscenity (vulgarity / indecency)
مِن
from
نِّسَآئِكُمْ
your women,
فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟
thus have testimony
عَلَيْهِنَّ
upon them (the women)
أَرْبَعَةًۭ
of four (individuals)
مِّنكُمْ
from you;
ۖ
فَإِن
then if
شَهِدُوا۟
they testify
فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ
then confine them
فِى
in
ٱلْبُيُوتِ
the houses
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ
completes them
ٱلْمَوْتُ
the death,
أَوْ
or
يَجْعَلَ
makes
ٱللَّهُ
the One
لَهُنَّ
for them
سَبِيلًۭا
a way.
٤
١٥
وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةًۭ مِّنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًۭا
And the ones who produce the public obscenity (vulgarity / indecency) from your women, thus have testimony upon them (the women) of four (individuals) from you; then if they testify then confine them in the houses until completes them the death, or makes the One for them a way.

As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or (until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation).

وَٱلَّذَانِ
And the two males
يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا
who produce it (the public obscenity [vulgarity / indecency])
مِنكُمْ
from you
فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا
then punish them both;
ۖ
فَإِن
then if
تَابَا
they turn
وَأَصْلَحَا
and become correct
فَأَعْرِضُوا۟
then excuse
عَنْهُمَآ
from them both;
ۗ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
has been
تَوَّابًۭا
returning,
رَّحِيمًا
merciful.
٤
١٦
وَٱلَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا مِنكُمْ فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا ۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصْلَحَا فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًۭا رَّحِيمًا
And the two males who produce it (the public obscenity [vulgarity / indecency]) from you then punish them both; then if they turn and become correct then excuse from them both; surely the One has been returning, merciful.

And as for the two of you who are guilty thereof, punish them both. And if they repent and improve, then let them be. Lo! Allah is ever relenting, Merciful.

إِنَّمَا
It is such that
ٱلتَّوْبَةُ
the return
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One is
لِلَّذِينَ
for the ones who
يَعْمَلُونَ
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the offense
بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ
due to ignorance,
ثُمَّ
but
يَتُوبُونَ
return
مِن
from
قَرِيبٍۢ
it immediately,
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
thus those are,
يَتُوبُ
turns
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon whom;
ۗ
وَكَانَ
and has been
ٱللَّهُ
the One
عَلِيمًا
knowledgeful,
حَكِيمًۭا
wise.
٤
١٧
إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوْبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍۢ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا
It is such that the return upon the One is for the ones who did the offense due to ignorance, but return from it immediately, thus those are, turns the One, upon whom; and has been the One knowledgeful, wise.

Forgiveness is only incumbent on Allah toward those who do evil in ignorance (and) then turn quickly (in repentance) to Allah. These are they toward whom Allah relenteth. Allah is ever Knower, Wise.

[Acceptance of] repentance by Allah is only for those who commit evil out of ignorance and then repent promptly. It is such whose repentance Allah will accept, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.

God will only accept the repentance of those who commit evil in ignorance, if they repent immediately. God is All-knowing and All-wise.

وَلَيْسَتِ
And not is
ٱلتَّوْبَةُ
the forgiveness
لِلَّذِينَ
for those who
يَعْمَلُونَ
did
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
the crimes
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
حَضَرَ
arrived to
أَحَدَهُمُ
one of them
ٱلْمَوْتُ
the death,
قَالَ
said,
إِنِّى
[I am
تُبْتُ
returning
ٱلْـَٰٔنَ
now],
وَلَا
and not
ٱلَّذِينَ
(for) the ones who
يَمُوتُونَ
died
وَهُمْ
while they
كُفَّارٌ
were in denial.
ۚ
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those are,
أَعْتَدْنَا
We have prepared
لَهُمْ
for whom,
عَذَابًا
a punishment
أَلِيمًۭا
that is painful.
٤
١٨
وَلَيْسَتِ ٱلتَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّى تُبْتُ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ وَلَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا
And not is the forgiveness for those who did the crimes until when arrived to one of them the death, said, [I am returning now], and not (for) the ones who died while they were in denial. Those are, We have prepared for whom, a punishment that is painful.

The forgiveness is not for those who do ill-deeds until, when death attendeth upon one of them, he saith: Lo! I repent now; nor yet for those who die while they are disbelievers. For such We have prepared a painful doom.

But [acceptance of] repentance is not for those who go on committing misdeeds: when death approaches any of them, he says, [I repent now.] Nor is it for those who die while they are faithless. For such We have prepared a painful punishment.

There is no forgiveness for those who commit sin and do not repent until the last moment of their lives nor for those who die as unbelievers. For these people We have prepared a painful torment.

And repentance is not for those who go on doing evil deeds, until when death comes to one of them, he says: Surely now I repent; nor (for) those who die while they are unbelievers. These are they for whom We have prepared a painful chastisement.

Forgiveness is not for those who continue to do evil deeds until, when death comes upon one of them, he says: [Now I repent!] nor from those who die as deniers of the truth. We have prepared a painful punishment for them.

اور توبہ ان لوگوں کے لئے نہیں ہے جو پہلے برائیاں کرتے ہیں اور پھر جب موت سامنے آجاتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ اب ہم نے توبہ کرلی اور نہ ان کے لئے ہے جو حالاُ کفر میں مرجاتے ہیں کہ ان کے لئے ہم نے بڑا دردناک عذاب مہّیا کر رکھا ہے

مگر توبہ اُن لوگوں کے لیے نہیں ہے جو برے کام کیے چلے جاتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت وقت آ جاتا ہے اُس وقت وہ کہتا ہے کہ اب میں نے توبہ کی، اور اسی طرح توبہ اُن کے لیے بھی نہیں ہے جو مرتے دم تک کافر رہیں ا یسے لوگوں کے لیے تو ہم نے درد ناک سزا تیار کر رکھی ہے

ان لوگوں کی توبہ (قبول) نہیں ہے۔ جو (زندگی بھر) برائیاں کرتے رہتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت کا وقت آجاتا ہے، تو وہ کہتا ہے، اس وقت میں توبہ کرتا ہوں۔ اور نہ ہی ان کے لیے توبہ ہے۔ جو کفر کی حالت میں مرتے ہیں۔ یہ وہ ہیں جن کے لیے ہم نے دردناک عذاب مہیا کر رکھا ہے۔

it is allowed

تَرِثُوا۟
you inherit
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
the females
كَرْهًۭا
coercively;
ۖ
وَلَا
and do not
تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ
create obstacles in their way
لِتَذْهَبُوا۟
of going away
بِبَعْضِ
with part of
مَآ
what
ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ
has been given to them,
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَأْتِينَ
they produce
بِفَٰحِشَةٍۢ
with vulgarity
مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ
that is clear;
ۚ
وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ
and reside with them
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ
with known articulation,
ۚ
فَإِن
thus if
كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ
you feel aversion for them
فَعَسَىٰٓ
then perhaps
أَن
that
تَكْرَهُوا۟
they (as well) feel aversed of
شَيْـًۭٔا
a thing,
وَيَجْعَلَ
and has placed
ٱللَّهُ
the One
فِيهِ
in it
خَيْرًۭا
betterment
كَثِيرًۭا
a many.
٤
١٩
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَرِثُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرْهًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا۟ بِبَعْضِ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍۢ مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ ۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًۭا كَثِيرًۭا
O you of the ones who have conviction! Not it is allowed to you that you inherit the females coercively; and do not create obstacles in their way of going away with part of what has been given to them, except that they produce with vulgarity that is clear; and reside with them with known articulation, thus if you feel aversion for them then perhaps that they (as well) feel aversed of a thing, and has placed the One in it betterment a many.

O ye who believe! It is not lawful for you forcibly to inherit the women (of your deceased kinsmen), nor (that) ye should put constraint upon them that ye may take away a part of that which ye have given them, unless they be guilty of flagrant lewdness. But consort with them in kindness, for if ye hate them it may happen that ye hate a thing wherein Allah hath placed much good.

O you who have faith! It is not lawful for you to inherit women forcibly, and do not press them to take away part of what you have given them, unless they commit a gross indecency. Consort with them in an honourable manner; and should you dislike them, maybe you dislike something while Allah invests it with an abundant good.

Believers, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will as part of the legacy. Do not create difficulties for your wives in order to force them to give-up part of what you had given to them to set themselves free from the bond of marriage, unless they have clearly committed adultery. Always treat them reasonably. If you dislike them, you could be disliking that which God has filled with abundant good.

زَوْجٍۢ

وَءَاتَيْتُمْ
and you have given
إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ
one of them
قِنطَارًۭا
any support
فَلَا
then do not
تَأْخُذُوا۟
take
مِنْهُ
from it
شَيْـًٔا
a thing.
ۚ
أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ
Are you to take it
بُهْتَٰنًۭا
as a slander,
وَإِثْمًۭا
and as a crime
مُّبِينًۭا
that was clear?
٤
٢٠
وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍۢ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍۢ وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًۭا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ بُهْتَٰنًۭا وَإِثْمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا
And if you decide to change a spouse in place of a spouse and you have given one of them any support then do not take from it a thing. Are you to take it as a slander, and as a crime that was clear?

And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money (however great), take nothing from it. Would ye take it by the way of calumny and open wrong?

وَأَخَذْنَ
and they took
مِنكُم
from you
مِّيثَٰقًا
a ratification
غَلِيظًۭا
that is sacred?

وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا
And how can you take it, while certainly opened up some of you towards some, and they took from you a ratification that is sacred?

How can ye take it (back) after one of you hath gone in unto the other, and they have taken a strong pledge from you?

قَدْ
has thus
سَلَفَ
passed;
ۚ
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed it
كَانَ
has been
فَٰحِشَةًۭ
an obscenity,
وَمَقْتًۭا
and an abhoring act,
وَسَآءَ
and an evil
سَبِيلًا
tradition.
٤
٢٢
وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ مَا نَكَحَ ءَابَآؤُكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةًۭ وَمَقْتًۭا وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا
And do not be intimate with whom were intimate your forefathers from the females except what has thus passed; indeed it has been an obscenity, and an abhoring act, and an evil tradition.

⦿
And marry not those women whom your fathers married, except what hath already happened (of that nature) in the past. Lo! it was ever lewdness and abomination, and an evil way.

Do not marry any of the women whom your fathers had married, excluding what is already past. That is indeed an indecency, an outrage and an evil course.

Off limits
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you are

and your sisters,
وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ
and your paternal aunts,
وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ
and your maternal aunts,
وَبَنَاتُ
and daughters of
ٱلْأَخِ
the brothers,
وَبَنَاتُ
and daughters of
ٱلْأُخْتِ
the sisters,
وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ
and your mothers
ٱلَّٰتِىٓ
the ones who
أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ
breastfed you,
وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم
and your sisters
مِّنَ
from
ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ
breastfeeding,
وَأُمَّهَٰتُ
and the mothers of
نِسَآئِكُمْ
your women,
وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ
and step ones
ٱلَّٰتِى
who are
فِى
in
حُجُورِكُم
your care,
مِّن
(belonging) from
نِّسَآئِكُمُ
your women,
ٱلَّٰتِى
the ones
دَخَلْتُم
you have had intercourse
بِهِنَّ
with,
فَإِن
thus if
لَّمْ
not
تَكُونُوا۟
you have become
دَخَلْتُم
consumated
بِهِنَّ
with them
فَلَا
then no
جُنَاحَ
crime
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you,
وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ
and those in relationship with
أَبْنَآئِكُمُ
your male sons,
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who are
مِنْ
from
أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ
your own loins,
وَأَن
and (is off limits) that
تَجْمَعُوا۟
you join together
بَيْنَ
between
ٱلْأُخْتَيْنِ
the sisters,
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
قَدْ
has
سَلَفَ
passed;
ۗ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
has been
غَفُورًۭا
forgiving,
رَّحِيمًۭا
merciful.
٤
٢٣
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأُخْتِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمْ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى فِى حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ أَبْنَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ وَأَن تَجْمَعُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلْأُخْتَيْنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا
Off limits upon you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your paternal aunts, and your maternal aunts, and daughters of the brothers, and daughters of the sisters, and your mothers the ones who breastfed you, and your sisters from breastfeeding, and the mothers of your women, and step ones who are in your care, (belonging) from your women, the ones you have had intercourse with, thus if not you have become consumated with them then no crime upon you, and those in relationship with your male sons, the ones who are from your own loins, and (is off limits) that you join together between the sisters, except what has passed; surely the One has been forgiving, merciful.

Forbidden unto you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father's sisters, and your mother's sisters, and your brother's daughters and your sister's daughters, and your foster-mothers, and your foster-sisters, and your mothers-in-law, and your step-daughters who are under your protection (born) of your women unto whom ye have gone in - but if ye have not gone in unto them, then it is no sin for you (to marry their daughters) - and the wives of your sons who (spring) from your own loins. And (it is forbidden unto you) that ye should have two sisters together, except what hath already happened (of that nature) in the past. Lo! Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.

Forbidden to you are your mothers, your daughters and your sisters, your paternal aunts and your maternal aunts, your brother]s daughters and your sister]s daughters, your [foster-]mothers who have suckled you and your sisters through fosterage, your wives] mothers, and your stepdaughters who are under your care [born] of the wives whom you have gone into—but if you have not gone into them there is no sin upon you—and the wives of your sons who are from your own loins, and that you should marry two sisters at one time—excluding what is already past; indeed Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful—

You are forbidden to marry your mothers, daughters, sisters, paternal aunts, maternal aunts, nieces, your foster-mothers, your foster-sisters, your mothers-in-law, your step-daughters whom you have brought up and with whose mothers you have had carnal relations. It would not be a sin to marry her if you did not have carnal relations with her mother. You are forbidden to marry the wives of your own sons and to marry two sisters at the same time without any adverse affect to the such relations of the past. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful.

Forbidden to you are your mothers and your daughters and your sisters and your paternal aunts and your maternal aunts and brothers' daughters and sisters' daughters and your mothers that have suckled you and your foster-sisters and mothers of your wives and your step-daughters who are in your guardianship, (born) of your wives to whom you have gone in, but if you have not gone in to them, there is no blame on you (in marrying them), and the wives of your sons who are of your own loins and that you should have two sisters together, except what has already passed; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
