تِلْكَ
These are
حُدُودُ
limits of
ٱللَّهِ
the One;
ۚ
وَمَن
and whoever
يُطِعِ
conforms to
ٱللَّهَ
the One
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His messenger,
يُدْخِلْهُ
He will make them enter
جَنَّٰتٍۢ
gardens,
تَجْرِى
flowing
مِن
of
تَحْتِهَا
under them
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ
rivers,
خَٰلِدِينَ
eternalized
فِيهَا
therein;
ۚ
وَذَٰلِكَ
and that is
ٱلْفَوْزُ
the victory
ٱلْعَظِيمُ
that is most magnificent.
٤
١٣
تِلْكَ حُدُودُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ These are limits of the One; and whoever conforms to the One and His messenger, He will make them enter gardens, flowing of under them rivers, eternalized therein; and that is the victory that is most magnificent.

These are the limits (imposed by) Allah. Whoso obeyeth Allah and His messenger, He will make him enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, where such will dwell for ever. That will be the great success. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

These are Allah]s bounds, and whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle, He shall admit him to gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever]. That is the great success. - Qarai, Ali Quli

These are the laws of God. Whoever obeys God and His Messenger will be admitted to the gardens wherein streams flow and wherein they will live forever. This is the greatest triumph. - Sarwar, Muhammad

These are Allah's limits, and whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle, He will cause him to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them; and this is the great achievement. - Shakir, Habib

یہ اللہ کی مقرر کی ہوئی حدیں ہیں جو اللہ اور اُس کے رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا اُسے اللہ ایسے باغوں میں داخل کرے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں بہتی ہوں گی اور ان باغوں میں وہ ہمیشہ رہے گا اور یہی بڑی کامیابی ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

یہ اللہ کی حدیں ہیں اور جو حکم مانے اللہ اور اللہ کے رسول کا اللہ اسے باغوں میں لے جائے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں رواں ہمیشہ ان میں رہیں گے، اور یہی ہے بڑی کامیابی، - Ahmed Raza

یہ اللہ کی مقرر کردہ حدیں ہیں جو خدا اور رسول کی اطاعت کرے گا اللہ اسے ان بہشتوں میں داخل کرے گا۔ جن کے نیچے سے نہریں جاری ہوں گی۔ جن میں وہ ہمیشہ ہمیشہ رہیں گے اور یہ بہت بڑی کامیابی ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَمَن
And whoever
يَعْصِ
opposes
ٱللَّهَ
the One
وَرَسُولَهُۥ
and His messenger,
وَيَتَعَدَّ
transgresses
حُدُودَهُۥ
His limits,
يُدْخِلْهُ
He will enter him in
نَارًا
a fire,
خَٰلِدًۭا
eternalized
فِيهَا
therein,
وَلَهُۥ
and for him
عَذَابٌۭ
a punishment of
مُّهِينٌۭ
humiliation.
٤
١٤
وَمَن يَعْصِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَٰلِدًۭا فِيهَا وَلَهُۥ عَذَابٌۭ مُّهِينٌۭ And whoever opposes the One and His messenger, transgresses His limits, He will enter him in a fire, eternalized therein, and for him a punishment of humiliation.

And whoso disobeyeth Allah and His messenger and transgresseth His limits, He will make him enter Fire, where he will dwell for ever; his will be a shameful doom. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle and transgresses the bounds set by Allah, He shall make him enter a Fire, to remain in it [forever], and there will be a humiliating punishment for him. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Whoever disobeys God and His Messenger and breaks His rules will be admitted to the fire wherein they will live forever, suffering a humiliating torment. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle and goes beyond His limits, He will cause him to enter fire to abide in it, and he shall have an abasing chastisement. - Shakir, Habib

But anyone who disobeys God and His Messenger and transgresses His limits shall be cast into a Fire, wherein he will abide forever. And he shall have a humiliating punishment. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جو خدا و رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا اور ا سکے حدود سے تجاوز کرجائے گا خدا اسے جہّنم میں داخل کردے گا اور وہ وہیں ہمیشہ رہے گا اور اس کے لئے رسوا کن عذاب ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور جو اللہ اور اُس کے رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا اور اس کی مقرر کی ہوئی حدوں سے تجاوز کر جائے گا اُسے اللہ آگ میں ڈالے گا جس میں وہ ہمیشہ رہے گا اور اس کے لیے رسوا کن سزا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی نافرمانی کرے اور اس کی کل حدوں سے بڑھ جائے اللہ اسے آگ میں داخل کرے گا جس میں ہمیشہ رہے گا اور اس کے لئے خواری کا عذاب ہے - Ahmed Raza

اور جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا اور اس کی مقرر کردہ حدوں سے تجاوز کرے گا۔ تو اللہ اسے آتش دوزخ میں داخل کرے گا۔ جس میں وہ ہمیشہ رہے گا۔ اور اس کے لیے ذلیل کرنے والا عذاب ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَٱلَّٰتِى
And the ones
يَأْتِينَ
who produce
ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ
the public obscenity (vulgarity / indecency)
مِن
from
نِّسَآئِكُمْ
your women,
فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟
thus have testimony
عَلَيْهِنَّ
upon them (the women)
أَرْبَعَةًۭ
of four (individuals)
مِّنكُمْ
from you;
ۖ
فَإِن
then if
شَهِدُوا۟
they testify
فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ
then confine them
فِى
in
ٱلْبُيُوتِ
the houses
حَتَّىٰ
until
يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ
completes them
ٱلْمَوْتُ
the death,
أَوْ
or
يَجْعَلَ
makes
ٱللَّهُ
the One
لَهُنَّ
for them
سَبِيلًۭا
a way.
٤
١٥
وَٱلَّٰتِى يَأْتِينَ ٱلْفَٰحِشَةَ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ فَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَرْبَعَةًۭ مِّنكُمْ ۖ فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْبُيُوتِ حَتَّىٰ يَتَوَفَّىٰهُنَّ ٱلْمَوْتُ أَوْ يَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًۭا And the ones who produce the public obscenity (vulgarity / indecency) from your women, thus have testimony upon them (the women) of four (individuals) from you; then if they testify then confine them in the houses until completes them the death, or makes the One for them a way.

As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or (until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Should any of your women commit an indecent act, produce against them four witnesses from yourselves, and if they testify, detain them in [their] houses until death finishes them, or Allah decrees a course for them. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Those of your women who commit fornication, let four (Muslim) witness testify to their act. If there is sufficient testimony, confine them to their homes until they die, or until God provides a way for their freedom. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And as for those who are guilty of an indecency from among your women, call to witnesses against them four (witnesses) from among you; then if they bear witness confine them to the houses until death takes them away or Allah opens some way for them. - Shakir, Habib

If any of your women commit fornication, call in four male witnesses from among yourselves against them; if they testify to their guilt, confine them to the house until death releases them or until God gives them another way out. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور تمہاری عورتوں میں سے جو عورتیں بدکاری کریں ان پر اپنوں میں سے چار گواہوں کی گواہی لو اور جب گواہی دے دیں تو انہیں گھروں میں بند کردو- یہاں تک کہ موت آجائے یا خدا ان کے لئے کوئی راستہ مقرر کردے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تمہاری عورتوں میں سے جو بد کاری کی مرتکب ہوں اُن پر اپنے میں سے چار آدمیوں کی گواہی لو، اور اگر چار آدمی گواہی دے دیں تو ان کو گھروں میں بند رکھو یہاں تک کہ انہیں موت آ جائے یا اللہ اُن کے لیے کوئی راستہ نکال دے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور تمہاری عورتوں میں جو بدکاری کریں ان پر خاص اپنے میں کے چار مردوں کی گواہی لو پھر اگر وہ گواہی دے دیں تو ان عورتوں کو گھر میں بند رکھو یہاں تک کہ انہیں موت اٹھالے یا اللہ ان کی کچھ راہ نکالے - Ahmed Raza

وَٱلَّذَانِ
And the two males
يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا
who produce it (the public obscenity [vulgarity / indecency])
مِنكُمْ
from you
فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا
then punish them both;
ۖ
فَإِن
then if
تَابَا
they turn
وَأَصْلَحَا
and become correct
فَأَعْرِضُوا۟
then excuse
عَنْهُمَآ
from them both;
ۗ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
has been
تَوَّابًۭا
returning,
رَّحِيمًا
merciful.
٤
١٦
وَٱلَّذَانِ يَأْتِيَٰنِهَا مِنكُمْ فَـَٔاذُوهُمَا ۖ فَإِن تَابَا وَأَصْلَحَا فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمَآ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ تَوَّابًۭا رَّحِيمًا And the two males who produce it (the public obscenity [vulgarity / indecency]) from you then punish them both; then if they turn and become correct then excuse from them both; surely the One has been returning, merciful.
⦿
And as for the two of you who are guilty thereof, punish them both. And if they repent and improve, then let them be. Lo! Allah is ever relenting, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Should two among you commit it, chastise them both; but if they repent and reform, let them alone. Indeed Allah is all-clement, all-merciful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If any two people commit fornication, punish them. If they repent and reform, let them go. God is All-forgiving and All-merciful. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And as for the two who are guilty of indecency from among you, give them both a punishment; then if they repent and amend, turn aside from them; surely Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful. - Shakir, Habib

If two men commit a like abomination, punish them both. If they repent and mend their ways, leave them alone. God is forgiving and merciful. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور تم میں سے جو آدمی بدکاری کریں انہیں اذیت دو پھر اگر توبہ کرلیں اور اپنے حال کی اصلاح کرلیں تو ان سے اعراض کرو کہ خدا بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور مہربان ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور تم میں سے جو اس فعل کا ارتکاب کریں اُن دونوں کو تکلیف دو، پھر اگر وہ توبہ کریں اور اپنی اصلاح کر لیں تو انہیں چھوڑ دو کہ اللہ بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور رحم فرمانے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور تم میں جو مرد عورت ایسا کریں ان کو ایذا دو پھر اگر وہ توبہ کرلیں اور نیک ہوجائیں تو ان کا پیچھا چھوڑ دو، بیشک اللہ بڑا توبہ قبول کرنے والا مہربان ہے - Ahmed Raza

اور تم میں سے جو دو شخص (مرد و عورت) بدکاری کا ارتکاب کریں تو ان کو اذیت پہنچاؤ۔ پھر اگر وہ توبہ کر لیں اور اپنی اصلاح کرلیں۔ تو انہیں چھوڑ دو بے شک اللہ بہت توبہ قبول کرنے والا اور بہت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

إِنَّمَا
It is such that
ٱلتَّوْبَةُ
the return
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One is
لِلَّذِينَ
for the ones who
يَعْمَلُونَ
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the offense
بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ
due to ignorance,
ثُمَّ
but
يَتُوبُونَ
return
مِن
from
قَرِيبٍۢ
it immediately,
فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
thus those are,
يَتُوبُ
turns
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon whom;
ۗ
وَكَانَ
and has been
ٱللَّهُ
the One
عَلِيمًا
knowledgeful,
حَكِيمًۭا
wise.
٤
١٧
إِنَّمَا ٱلتَّوْبَةُ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسُّوٓءَ بِجَهَٰلَةٍۢ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِن قَرِيبٍۢ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًۭا It is such that the return upon the One is for the ones who did the offense due to ignorance, but return from it immediately, thus those are, turns the One, upon whom; and has been the One knowledgeful, wise.

Forgiveness is only incumbent on Allah toward those who do evil in ignorance (and) then turn quickly (in repentance) to Allah. These are they toward whom Allah relenteth. Allah is ever Knower, Wise. - Pickthall, Marmaduke
⦿
[Acceptance of] repentance by Allah is only for those who commit evil out of ignorance and then repent promptly. It is such whose repentance Allah will accept, and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
God will only accept the repentance of those who commit evil in ignorance, if they repent immediately. God is All-knowing and All-wise. - Sarwar, Muhammad
⦿
Repentance with Allah is only for those who do evil in ignorance, then turn (to Allah) soon, so these it is to whom Allah turns (mercifully), and Allah is ever Knowing, Wise. - Shakir, Habib
⦿
But God undertakes to accept repentance only from those who do evil out of ignorance and those who repent soon after. God turns towards such people with mercy; He is all knowing and all wise. - Wahiduddin Khan

توبہ خد اکے ذمہ صرف ان لوگوں کے لئے ہے جو جہالت کی بنائ پر برائی کرتے ہیں اور پھر فورا توبہ کرلیتے ہیں کہ خدا ان کی توبہ کو قبول کرلیتا ہے وہ علیم و دانا بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی - Jawadi, Zeeshan

ہاں یہ جان لو کہ اللہ پر توبہ کی قبولیت کا حق اُنہی لوگوں کے لیے ہے جو نادانی کی وجہ سے کوئی برا فعل کر گزرتے ہیں اور اس کے بعد جلدی ہی توبہ کر لیتے ہیں ایسے لوگوں پر اللہ اپنی نظر عنایت سے پھر متوجہ ہو جاتا ہے اور اللہ ساری باتوں کی خبر رکھنے والا اور حکیم و دانا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

وہ توبہ جس کا قبول کرنا اللہ نے اپنے فضل سے لازم کرلیا ہے وہ انہیں کی ہے جو نادانی سے برائی کر بیٹھیں پھر تھوڑی دیر میں توبہ کرلیں ایسوں پر اللہ اپنی رحمت سے رجوع کرتا ہے، اور اللہ علم و حکمت والا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

توبہ قبول کرنے کا حق اللہ کے ذمہ صرف انہی لوگوں کا ہے جو جہالت (نادانی) کی وجہ سے کوئی برائی کرتے ہیں پھر جلدی توبہ کر لیتے ہیں یہ ہیں وہ لوگ جن کی توبہ خدا قبول کرتا ہے۔ اور اللہ بڑا جاننے والا اور بڑی حکمت والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And not is
ٱلتَّوْبَةُ
the forgiveness
لِلَّذِينَ
for those who
يَعْمَلُونَ
did
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ
the crimes
حَتَّىٰٓ
until
إِذَا
when
حَضَرَ
arrived to
أَحَدَهُمُ
one of them
ٱلْمَوْتُ
the death,
قَالَ
said,
إِنِّى
[I am
تُبْتُ
returning
ٱلْـَٰٔنَ
now],
وَلَا
and not
ٱلَّذِينَ
(for) the ones who
يَمُوتُونَ
died
وَهُمْ
while they
كُفَّارٌ
were in denial.
ۚ
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
Those are,
أَعْتَدْنَا
We have prepared
لَهُمْ
for whom,
عَذَابًا
a punishment
أَلِيمًۭا
that is painful.
٤
١٨
وَلَيْسَتِ ٱلتَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّى تُبْتُ ٱلْـَٰٔنَ وَلَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا And not is the forgiveness for those who did the crimes until when arrived to one of them the death, said, [I am returning now], and not (for) the ones who died while they were in denial. Those are, We have prepared for whom, a punishment that is painful.

The forgiveness is not for those who do ill-deeds until, when death attendeth upon one of them, he saith: Lo! I repent now; nor yet for those who die while they are disbelievers. For such We have prepared a painful doom. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But [acceptance of] repentance is not for those who go on committing misdeeds: when death approaches any of them, he says, [I repent now.] Nor is it for those who die while they are faithless. For such We have prepared a painful punishment. - Qarai, Ali Quli

There is no forgiveness for those who commit sin and do not repent until the last moment of their lives nor for those who die as unbelievers. For these people We have prepared a painful torment. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And repentance is not for those who go on doing evil deeds, until when death comes to one of them, he says: Surely now I repent; nor (for) those who die while they are unbelievers. These are they for whom We have prepared a painful chastisement. - Shakir, Habib

Forgiveness is not for those who continue to do evil deeds until, when death comes upon one of them, he says: [Now I repent!] nor from those who die as deniers of the truth. We have prepared a painful punishment for them. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور توبہ ان لوگوں کے لئے نہیں ہے جو پہلے برائیاں کرتے ہیں اور پھر جب موت سامنے آجاتی ہے تو کہتے ہیں کہ اب ہم نے توبہ کرلی اور نہ ان کے لئے ہے جو حالاُ کفر میں مرجاتے ہیں کہ ان کے لئے ہم نے بڑا دردناک عذاب مہّیا کر رکھا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

مگر توبہ اُن لوگوں کے لیے نہیں ہے جو برے کام کیے چلے جاتے ہیں یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت وقت آ جاتا ہے اُس وقت وہ کہتا ہے کہ اب میں نے توبہ کی، اور اسی طرح توبہ اُن کے لیے بھی نہیں ہے جو مرتے دم تک کافر رہیں ا یسے لوگوں کے لیے تو ہم نے درد ناک سزا تیار کر رکھی ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور وہ توبہ ان کی نہیں جو گناہوں میں لگے رہتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں کسی کو موت آئے تو کہے اب م یں نے توبہ کی اور نہ ان کی جو کافر مریں ان کے لئے ہم نے دردناک عذاب تیار رکھا ہے - Ahmed Raza

ان لوگوں کی توبہ (قبول) نہیں ہے۔ جو (زندگی بھر) برائیاں کرتے رہتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ جب ان میں سے کسی کی موت کا وقت آجاتا ہے، تو وہ کہتا ہے، اس وقت میں توبہ کرتا ہوں۔ اور نہ ہی ان کے لیے توبہ ہے۔ جو کفر کی حالت میں مرتے ہیں۔ یہ وہ ہیں جن کے لیے ہم نے دردناک عذاب مہیا کر رکھا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you of
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
have conviction!
لَا
Not
يَحِلُّ
it is allowed
لَكُمْ
to you
أَن
that
تَرِثُوا۟
you inherit
ٱلنِّسَآءَ
the females
كَرْهًۭا
coercively;
ۖ
وَلَا
and do not
تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ
create obstacles in their way
لِتَذْهَبُوا۟
of going away
بِبَعْضِ
with part of
مَآ
what
ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ
has been given to them,
إِلَّآ
except
أَن
that
يَأْتِينَ
they produce
بِفَٰحِشَةٍۢ
with vulgarity
مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ
that is clear;
ۚ
وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ
and reside with them
بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ
with known articulation,
ۚ
فَإِن
thus if
كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ
you feel aversion for them
فَعَسَىٰٓ
then perhaps
أَن
that
تَكْرَهُوا۟
they (as well) feel aversed of
شَيْـًۭٔا
a thing,
وَيَجْعَلَ
and has placed
ٱللَّهُ
the One
فِيهِ
in it
خَيْرًۭا
betterment
كَثِيرًۭا
a many.
٤
١٩
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَن تَرِثُوا۟ ٱلنِّسَآءَ كَرْهًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا۟ بِبَعْضِ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ إِلَّآ أَن يَأْتِينَ بِفَٰحِشَةٍۢ مُّبَيِّنَةٍۢ ۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ۚ فَإِن كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَيَجْعَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًۭا كَثِيرًۭا O you of the ones who have conviction! Not it is allowed to you that you inherit the females coercively; and do not create obstacles in their way of going away with part of what has been given to them, except that they produce with vulgarity that is clear; and reside with them with known articulation, thus if you feel aversion for them then perhaps that they (as well) feel aversed of a thing, and has placed the One in it betterment a many.

O ye who believe! It is not lawful for you forcibly to inherit the women (of your deceased kinsmen), nor (that) ye should put constraint upon them that ye may take away a part of that which ye have given them, unless they be guilty of flagrant lewdness. But consort with them in kindness, for if ye hate them it may happen that ye hate a thing wherein Allah hath placed much good. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who have faith! It is not lawful for you to inherit women forcibly, and do not press them to take away part of what you have given them, unless they commit a gross indecency. Consort with them in an honourable manner; and should you dislike them, maybe you dislike something while Allah invests it with an abundant good. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will as part of the legacy. Do not create difficulties for your wives in order to force them to give-up part of what you had given to them to set themselves free from the bond of marriage, unless they have clearly committed adultery. Always treat them reasonably. If you dislike them, you could be disliking that which God has filled with abundant good. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O you who believe! it is not lawful for you that you should take women as heritage against (their) will, and do not straiten them in order that you may take part of what you have given them, unless they are guilty of manifest indecency, and treat them kindly; then if you hate them, it may be that you dislike a thing while Allah has placed abundant good in it. - Shakir, Habib

Believers, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will, nor should you detain them wrongfully, so that you may take away a part of what you have given them, unless they are guilty of something clearly outrageous. Live with them in accordance with what is fair and kind; if you dislike them, it may be that you dislike something which God might make a source of abundant good. - Wahiduddin Khan

اے ایمان والو تمہارے لئے جائز نہیں ہے کہ جبرا عورتوں کے وارث بن جاؤ اور خبردار انہیں منع بھی نہ کرو کہ جو کچھ ان کو دے دیا ہے اس کا کچھ حصہّ لے لو مگر یہ کہ واضح طور پر بدکاری کریں اور ان کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرو اب اگر تم انہیں ناپسند بھی کرتے ہو تو ہوسکتا ہے کہ تم کسی چیز کو ناپسند کرتے ہو اور خدا اسی میں خیر کثیر قرار دے دے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، تمہارے لیے یہ حلال نہیں ہے کہ زبردستی عورتوں کے وارث بن بیٹھو اور نہ یہ حلال ہے کہ انہیں تنگ کر کے اُس مہر کا کچھ حصہ اڑا لینے کی کوشش کرو جو تم انہیں دے چکے ہو ہاں اگر وہ کسی صریح بد چلنی کی مرتکب ہو ں (تو ضرور تمہیں تنگ کرنے کا حق ہے) ان کے ساتھ بھلے طریقہ سے زندگی بسر کرو اگر وہ تمہیں ناپسند ہوں تو ہو سکتا ہے کہ ایک چیز تمہیں پسند نہ ہو مگر اللہ نے اُسی میں بہت کچھ بھلائی رکھ دی ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے ایمان والو! تمہیں حلال نہیں کہ عورتوں کے وارث بن جاؤ زبردستی اور عورتوں کو روکو نہیں اس نیت سے کہ جو مہر ان کو دیا تھا اس میں سے کچھ لے لو مگر اس صورت میں کہ صریح بے حیا ئی کا کام کریں اور ان سے اچھا برتاؤ کرو پھر اگر وہ تمہیں پسند نہ آئیں تو قریب ہے کہ کوئی چیز تمہیں ناپسند ہو اور اللہ اس میں بہت بھلائی رکھے - Ahmed Raza

اے ایمان والو! تمہارے لئے حلال نہیں ہے۔ کہ تم زبردستی عورتوں کے وارث بن جاؤ۔ اور نہ یہ جائز ہے۔ کہ ان پر سختی کرو اور روکے رکھو تاکہ جو کچھ تم نے (جہیز وغیرہ) انہیں دیا ہے اس میں سے کچھ حصہ لے اڑو مگر یہ کہ وہ صریح بدکاری کا ارتکاب کریں (کہ اس صورت میں سختی جائز ہے) اور عورتوں کے ساتھ عمدہ طریقہ سے زندگی گزارو۔ اور اگر تم انہیں ناپسند کرتے ہو تو ہو سکتا ہے کہ ایک چیز تمہیں پسند نہ ہو۔ مگر اللہ نے اس میں بہت کچھ بھلائی رکھ دی ہو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And if
أَرَدتُّمُ
you decide to
ٱسْتِبْدَالَ
change
زَوْجٍۢ
a spouse
مَّكَانَ
in place of
زَوْجٍۢ
a spouse
وَءَاتَيْتُمْ
and you have given
إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ
one of them
قِنطَارًۭا
any support
فَلَا
then do not
تَأْخُذُوا۟
take
مِنْهُ
from it
شَيْـًٔا
a thing.
ۚ
أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ
Are you to take it
بُهْتَٰنًۭا
as a slander,
وَإِثْمًۭا
and as a crime
مُّبِينًۭا
that was clear?
٤
٢٠
وَإِنْ أَرَدتُّمُ ٱسْتِبْدَالَ زَوْجٍۢ مَّكَانَ زَوْجٍۢ وَءَاتَيْتُمْ إِحْدَىٰهُنَّ قِنطَارًۭا فَلَا تَأْخُذُوا۟ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أَتَأْخُذُونَهُۥ بُهْتَٰنًۭا وَإِثْمًۭا مُّبِينًۭا And if you decide to change a spouse in place of a spouse and you have given one of them any support then do not take from it a thing. Are you to take it as a slander, and as a crime that was clear?

And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money (however great), take nothing from it. Would ye take it by the way of calumny and open wrong? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

If you desire to take a wife in place of another, and you have given one of them a quintal [of gold], do not take anything away from it. Would you take it by way of calumny and flagrant sin?! - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
If you want to divorce a woman so that you can marry another, do not take back the dowry which you had paid even if what you paid was a large amount of gold. To do this is a slanderous act and a manifest sin. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And if you wish to have (one) wife in place of another and you have given one of them a heap of gold, then take not from it anything; would you take it by slandering (her) and (doing her) manifest wrong? - Shakir, Habib
⦿
If you desire to replace one wife with another, do not take any part of her dower back: even if you have given her a treasure. Would you take it by slandering her and with manifest sinfulness? - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اگر تم ایک زوجہ کی جگہ پر دوسری زوجہ کو لانا چاہو اور ایک کو مال کثیر بھی دے چکے ہو تو خبردار اس میں سے کچھ واپس نہ لینا- کیا تم اس مال کو بہتان اور کھلے گناہ کے طور پر لینا چاہتے ہو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اگر تم ایک بیوی کی جگہ دوسری بیوی لے آنے کا ارادہ ہی کر لو تو خواہ تم نے اُسے ڈھیر سا مال ہی کیوں نہ دیا ہو، اس میں سے کچھ واپس نہ لینا کیا تم اُسے بہتان لگا کر اور صریح ظلم کر کے واپس لو گے؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اگر تم ایک بی بی کے بدلے دوسری بدلنا چاہو اور اسے ڈھیروں مال دے چکے ہو تو اس میں سے کچھ واپس نہ لو کیا اسے واپس لو گے جھوٹ باندھ کر اور کھلے گناہ سے - Ahmed Raza

اور اگر تم ایک بیوی کو بدل کر اس کی جگہ دوسری لانا چاہو اور تم ان میں سے ایک کو (جسے فارغ کرنا چاہتے ہو) بہت سا مال دے چکے ہو۔ تو اس میں سے کچھ بھی واپس نہ لو کیا تم جھوٹا الزام لگا کر اور صریح گناہ کرکے (واپس) لینا چاہتے ہو۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And how can
تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ
you take it,
وَقَدْ
while certainly
أَفْضَىٰ
opened up
بَعْضُكُمْ
some of you
إِلَىٰ
towards
بَعْضٍۢ
some,
وَأَخَذْنَ
and they took
مِنكُم
from you
مِّيثَٰقًا
a ratification
غَلِيظًۭا
that is sacred?
٤
٢١
وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا And how can you take it, while certainly opened up some of you towards some, and they took from you a ratification that is sacred?

How can ye take it (back) after one of you hath gone in unto the other, and they have taken a strong pledge from you? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

How could you take it back, when you have known each other, and they have taken from you a solemn covenant? - Qarai, Ali Quli

How can you take it back when you have had intimate relations and made a solemn agreement with each other? - Sarwar, Muhammad

And how can you take it when one of you has already gone in to the other and they have made with you a firm covenant? - Shakir, Habib

How can you take it when you have been intimate with one another, and she has taken a solemn pledge from you? - Wahiduddin Khan

اور آخر کس طرح تم مال کو واپس لو گے جب کہ ایک دوسرے سے متصل ہوچکا ہے اور ان عورتوں نے تم سے بہت سخت قسم کا عہد لیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور آخر تم اُسے کس طرح لے لو گے جب کہ تم ایک دوسرے سے لطف اندو ز ہو چکے ہو اور وہ تم سے پختہ عہد لے چکی ہیں؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And do not
تَنكِحُوا۟
be intimate with

ءَابَآؤُكُم
your forefathers
مِّنَ

ٱلنِّسَآءِ
the females
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
قَدْ
has thus
سَلَفَ
passed;
ۚ
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed it
كَانَ
has been
فَٰحِشَةًۭ
an obscenity,
وَمَقْتًۭا
and an abhoring act,
وَسَآءَ
and an evil
سَبِيلًا
tradition.
٤
٢٢
وَلَا تَنكِحُوا۟ مَا نَكَحَ ءَابَآؤُكُم مِّنَ ٱلنِّسَآءِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةًۭ وَمَقْتًۭا وَسَآءَ سَبِيلًا And do not be intimate with whom were intimate your forefathers from the females except what has thus passed; indeed it has been an obscenity, and an abhoring act, and an evil tradition.
⦿
And marry not those women whom your fathers married, except what hath already happened (of that nature) in the past. Lo! it was ever lewdness and abomination, and an evil way. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Do not marry any of the women whom your fathers had married, excluding what is already past. That is indeed an indecency, an outrage and an evil course. - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Do not marry, from now on, the ex-wives of your fathers for that custom was sinful, loathsome, and abominable. - Sarwar, Muhammad

حُرِّمَتْ
Off limits
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you are
أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ
your mothers,
وَبَنَاتُكُمْ
and your daughters,
وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ
and your sisters,
وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ
and your paternal aunts,
وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ
and your maternal aunts,
وَبَنَاتُ
and daughters of
ٱلْأَخِ
the brothers,
وَبَنَاتُ
and daughters of
ٱلْأُخْتِ
the sisters,
وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ
and your mothers
ٱلَّٰتِىٓ
the ones who
أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ
breastfed you,
وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم
and your sisters
مِّنَ
from
ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ
breastfeeding,
وَأُمَّهَٰتُ
and the mothers of
نِسَآئِكُمْ
your women,
وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ
and step ones
ٱلَّٰتِى
who are
فِى
in
حُجُورِكُم
your care,
مِّن
(belonging) from
نِّسَآئِكُمُ
your women,
ٱلَّٰتِى
the ones
دَخَلْتُم
you have had intercourse
بِهِنَّ
with,
فَإِن
thus if
لَّمْ
not
تَكُونُوا۟
you have become
دَخَلْتُم
consumated
بِهِنَّ
with them
فَلَا
then no
جُنَاحَ
crime
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you,
وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ
and those in relationship with
أَبْنَآئِكُمُ
your male sons,
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who are
مِنْ
from
أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ
your own loins,
وَأَن
and (is off limits) that
تَجْمَعُوا۟
you join together
بَيْنَ
between
ٱلْأُخْتَيْنِ
the sisters,
إِلَّا
except
مَا
what
قَدْ
has
سَلَفَ
passed;
ۗ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One
كَانَ
has been
غَفُورًۭا
forgiving,
رَّحِيمًۭا
merciful.

٢٣
حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَّهَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ وَعَمَّٰتُكُمْ وَخَٰلَٰتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأَخِ وَبَنَاتُ ٱلْأُخْتِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِىٓ أَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَأَخَوَٰتُكُم مِّنَ ٱلرَّضَٰعَةِ وَأُمَّهَٰتُ نِسَآئِكُمْ وَرَبَٰٓئِبُكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى فِى حُجُورِكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّٰتِى دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَإِن لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ دَخَلْتُم بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَحَلَٰٓئِلُ أَبْنَآئِكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلَٰبِكُمْ وَأَن تَجْمَعُوا۟ بَيْنَ ٱلْأُخْتَيْنِ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا Off limits upon you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your paternal aunts, and your maternal aunts, and daughters of the brothers, and daughters of the sisters, and your mothers the ones who breastfed you, and your sisters from breastfeeding, and the mothers of your women, and step ones who are in your care, (belonging) from your women, the ones you have had intercourse with, thus if not you have become consumated with them then no crime upon you, and those in relationship with your male sons, the ones who are from your own loins, and (is off limits) that you join together between the sisters, except what has passed; surely the One has been forgiving, merciful.

Forbidden unto you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your father's sisters, and your mother's sisters, and your brother's daughters and your sister's daughters, and your foster-mothers, and your foster-sisters, and your mothers-in-law, and your step-daughters who are under your protection (born) of your women unto whom ye have gone in - but if ye have not gone in unto them, then it is no sin for you (to marry their daughters) - and the wives of your sons who (spring) from your own loins. And (it is forbidden unto you) that ye should have two sisters together, except what hath already happened (of that nature) in the past. Lo! Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

You are forbidden to marry your mothers, daughters, sisters, paternal aunts, maternal aunts, nieces, your foster-mothers, your foster-sisters, your mothers-in-law, your step-daughters whom you have brought up and with whose mothers you have had carnal relations. It would not be a sin to marry her if you did not have carnal relations with her mother. You are forbidden to marry the wives of your own sons and to marry two sisters at the same time without any adverse affect to the such relations of the past. تمہارے اوپر تمہاری مائیں, بیٹیاں, بہنیں, پھوپھیاں, خالائیں, بھتیجیاں, بھانجیاں, وہ مائیں جنہوں نے تم کو دودھ پلایا ہے, تمہاری رضاعی(دودھ شریک) بہنیں, تمہاری بیویوں کی مائیں, تمہاری پروردہ عورتیں جو تمہاری آغوش میں ہیں اور ان عورتوں کی اولاد, جن سے تم نے دخول کیا ہے ہاں اگر دخول نہیں کیا ہے تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور تمہارے فرزندوں کی بیویاں جو فرزند تمہارے صلب سے ہیں اور دو بہنوں کا ایک ساتھ جمع کرنا سب حرام کردیا گیا ہے علاوہ اس کے جو اس سے پہلے ہوچکا ہے کہ خدا بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

تم پر حرام کی گئیں تمہاری مائیں، بیٹیاں، بہنیں، پھوپھیاں، خالائیں، بھتیجیاں، بھانجیاں، اور تمہاری وہ مائیں جنہوں نے تم کو دودھ پلایا ہو، اور تمہاری دودھ شریک بہنیں، اور تمہاری بیویوں کی مائیں، اور تمہاری بیویوں کی لڑکیاں جنہوں نے تمہاری گودوں میں پرورش پائی ہے اُن بیویوں کی لڑکیاں جن سے تمہارا تعلق زن و شو ہو چکا ہو ورنہ اگر (صرف نکاح ہوا ہو اور) تعلق زن و شو نہ ہوا ہو تو (ا نہیں چھوڑ کر ان کی لڑکیوں سے نکاح کر لینے میں) تم پر کوئی مواخذہ نہیں ہے اور تمہارے اُن بیٹوں کی بیویاں جو تمہاری صلب سے ہوں اور یہ بھی تم پر حرام کیا گیا ہے کہ ایک نکاح میں دو بہنوں کو جمع کرو، مگر جو پہلے ہو گیا سو ہو گیا، اللہ بخشنے والا اور رحم کرنے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تم پر حرام کر دی گئی ہیں تمہاری مائیں، تمہاری بیٹیاں، تمہاری بہنیں، تمہاری پھوپھیاں، تمہاری خالائیں، بھتیجیاں، بھانجیاں اور تمہاری وہ مائیں جنہوں نے تمہیں دودھ پلایا ہے۔ اور تمہاری رضاعی (دودھ شریک) بہنیں اور تمہاری بیویوں کی مائیں (خوشدامنیں) اور تمہاری ان بیویوں کی جن سے تم نے مباشرت کی ہے وہ لڑکیاں جو تمہاری گودوں میں پرورش پا رہی ہیں اور اگر صرف نکاح ہوا ہے مگر مباشرت نہیں ہوئی ہے۔ تو پھر (ان کی لڑکیوں سے نکاح کرنے میں) کوئی مضائقہ نہیں ہے۔ اور تمہارے صلبی بیٹوں کی بیویاں (بہوؤیں) اور یہ بھی حرام قرار دیا گیا کہ دو بہنوں کو ایک نکاح میں اکھٹا کرو۔ مگر جو پہلے ہو چکا ہے۔ بے شک اللہ بڑا بخشنے والا اور بڑا رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
