يَٰدَاوُۥدُ
[O Dawood!
إِنَّا
Certainly
جَعَلْنَٰكَ
We have placed you as
خَلِيفَةًۭ
a viceroy (My representative)
فِى
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the land.
فَٱحْكُم
So judge
بَيْنَ
between
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people
بِٱلْحَقِّ
with the fact,
وَلَا
and don't
تَتَّبِعِ
follow
ٱلْهَوَىٰ
the whims,
فَيُضِلَّكَ
then it will mislead you
عَن
from
سَبِيلِ
way of
ٱللَّهِ
the One.
ۚ
إِنَّ
Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
يَضِلُّونَ
go astray
عَن
from
سَبِيلِ
way of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
لَهُمْ
for them
عَذَابٌۭ
a punishment
شَدِيدٌۢ
that is intense
بِمَا
due to
نَسُوا۟
forgetting
يَوْمَ
day of
ٱلْحِسَابِ
the final calculation.]

يَٰدَاوُۥدُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰكَ خَلِيفَةًۭ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا نَسُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْحِسَابِ [O Dawood! Certainly We have placed you as a viceroy (My representative) in the land. So judge between the people with the fact, and don't follow the whims, then it will mislead you from way of the One. Surely the ones who go astray from way of the One, for them a punishment that is intense due to forgetting day of the final calculation.]

(And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! We have set thee as a viceroy in the earth; therefor judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that it beguile thee from the way of Allah. Lo! those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, forasmuch as they forgot the Day of Reckoning. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[O David! Indeed, We have made you a vicegerent on the earth. So judge between people with justice, and do not follow your desires, or they will lead you astray from the way of Allah. Indeed there is a severe punishment for those who stray from the way of Allah, because of their forgetting the Day of Reckoning.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

We told him. [David, We have appointed you as Our deputy on earth so judge among the people with truth. Do not follow (worldly) desires lest you go astray from the way of God. Those who go astray from the way of God will suffer severe torment for forgetting the Day of Reckoning. - Sarwar, Muhammad

o Dawood! surely We have made you a ruler in the land; so judge between men with justice and do not follow desire, lest it should lead you astray from the path of Allah; (as for) those who go astray from the path of Allah, they shall surely have a severe punishment because they forgot the day of reckoning. - Shakir, Habib

اے داؤد علیھ السّلامہم نے تم کو زمین میں اپنا جانشین بنایا ہے لہٰذا تم لوگوں کے درمیان حق کے ساتھ فیصلہ کرو اور خواہشات کا اتباع نہ کرو کہ وہ راسِ خدا سے منحرف کردیں بیشک جو لوگ راہ هخدا سے بھٹک جاتے ہیں ان کے لئے شدید عذاب ہے کہ انہوں نے روزِ حساب کو یکسر نظرانداز کردیا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(ہم نے اس سے کہا) ——اے داؤدؑ، ہم نے تجھے زمین میں خلیفہ بنایا ہے، لہٰذا تو لوگوں کے درمیان حق کے ساتھ حکومت کر اور خواہش نفس کی پیروی نہ کر کہ وہ تجھے اللہ کی راہ سے بھٹکا دے گی جو لوگ اللہ کی راہ سے بھٹکتے ہیں یقیناً اُن کے لیے سخت سزا ہے کہ وہ یوم الحساب کو بھول گئے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے داؤد بیشک ہم نے تجھے زمین میں نائب کیا تو لوگوں میں سچا حکم کر اور خواہش کے پیچھے نہ جانا کہ تجھے اللہ کی راہ سے بہکادے گی، بیشک وہ جو اللہ کی راہ سے بہکتے ہیں ان کے لیے سخت عذاب ہے اس پر کہ وہ حساب کے دن کو بھول بیٹھے - Ahmed Raza

اے داؤد(ع)! ہم نے تم کو زمین میں خلیفہ مقرر کیا ہے پس حق و انصاف کے ساتھ لوگوں میں فیصلہ کیا کرو اور خواہشِ نفس کی پیروی نہ کرو کہ وہ تمہیں اللہ کی راہ سے بھٹکا دے گی اور جو اللہ کی راہ سے بھٹک جاتے ہیں ان کیلئے سخت عذاب ہے اس لئے انہوں نے یوم الحساب (قیامت) کو بھلا دیا ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
