أَجَلَهُۥ

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟

فَٱحْذَرُوهُ

There is no sin for you in that which ye proclaim or hide in your minds concerning your troth with women. Allah knoweth that ye will remember them. But plight not your troth with women except by uttering a recognised form of words. And do not consummate the marriage until (the term) prescribed is run. Know that Allah knoweth what is in your minds, so beware of Him; and know that Allah is Forgiving, Clement. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There is no sin upon you in what you may hint in proposing to [recently widowed] women, or what you may secretly cherish within your hearts. Allah knows that you will be thinking of them, but do not make troth with them secretly, unless you say honourable words, and do not resolve on a marriage tie until the prescribed term is complete. Know that Allah knows what is in your hearts, so beware of Him; and know that Allah is all-forgiving, all-forbearing. - Qarai, Ali Quli

It is not a sin if you make an indirect marriage proposal or have such an intention in your hearts. God knows that you will cherish their memories in your hearts. Do not have secret dates unless you behave lawfully. Do not decide for a marriage before the appointed time is over. Know that God knows what is in your hearts. Have fear of Him and know that He is All-forgiving and All-merciful. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And there is no blame on you respecting that which you speak indirectly in the asking of (such) women in marriage or keep (the proposal) concealed within your minds; Allah knows that you will mention them, but do not give them a promise in secret unless you speak in a lawful manner, and do not confirm the marriage tie until the writing is fulfilled, and know that Allah knows what is in your minds, therefore beware of Him, and know that Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing. - Shakir, Habib

It shall be no offence for you to hint at a proposal of marriage [to divorced or widowed women] or to cherish them in your hearts. God knows that you will bear them in mind. But do not enter into any secret arrangement with them, beyond conveying some indication to them of your inclination. Do not proceed with tying the marriage-knot before the end of their waiting period. Know that God has knowledge of all your thoughts. Therefore, take heed and bear in mind that God is forgiving and forbearing. - Wahiduddin Khan

تمہارے لئے نکاح کے پیغام کی پیشکش یا دل ہی دل میں پوشیدہ ارادہ میں کوئی حرج نہیں ہے. خدا کو معلوم ہے کہ تم بعد میں ان سے تذکرہ کرو گے لیکن فی الحال خفیہ وعدہ بھی نہ لو صرف کوئی نیک بات کہہ دو تو کوئی حرج نہیں ہے اور جب تک مقررہ مدّت پوری نہ ہوجائے عقد نکاح کا ارادہ نہ کرنا یہ یاد رکھو کہ خدا تمہارے دل کی باتیں خوب جانتا ہے لہذا اس سے ڈرتے رہو اور یہ جان لو کہ وہ غفور بھی ہے اور حلیم واِردبار بھی - Jawadi, Zeeshan

زمانہ عدت میں خواہ تم اُن بیوہ عورتوں کے ساتھ منگنی کا ارادہ اشارے کنایے میں ظاہر کر دو، خواہ دل میں چھپائے رکھو، دونوں صورتوں میں کوئی مضائقہ نہیں اللہ جانتا ہے کہ اُن کا خیال تو تمہارے دل میں آئے گا ہی مگر دیکھو! خفیہ عہد و پیمان نہ کرنا اگر کوئی بات کرنی ہے، تو معرف طریقے سے کرو اور عقد نکاح باندھنے کا فیصلہ اُس وقت تک نہ کرو، جب تک کہ عدت پوری نہ ہو جائے خوب سمجھ لو کہ اللہ تمہارے دلوں کا حال تک جانتا ہے لہٰذا اس سے ڈرو اور یہ بھی جان لو کہ اللہ بردبار ہے، چھوٹی چھوٹی باتوں سے درگزر فرماتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور تم پر گناہ نہیں اس بات میں جو پردہ رکھ کر تم عورتوں کے نکاح کا پیام د و یا اپنے دل میں چھپا رکھو اللہ جانتا ہے کہ اب تم ان کی یاد کرو گے ہاں ان سے خفیہ وعدہ نہ کر رکھو مگر یہ کہ اتنی بات کہو جو شرع میں معروف ہے، اور نکاح کی گرہ پکی نہ کرو جب تک لکھا ہوا حکم اپنی میعاد کو نہ پہنچ لے اور جان لو کہ اللہ تمہارے دل کی جانتا ہے تو اس سے ڈرو اور جان لو کہ اللہ بخشنے والا حلم والا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اگر تم (عدت کے دوران) عورتوں کی اشارہ و کنایہ میں خواستگاری کرو (پیغام نکاح دو) یا اسے اپنے دلوں میں چھپائے رکھو تو اس میں تم پر کچھ گناہ نہیں ہے۔ اللہ کو معلوم ہے کہ تم جلد ان کو یاد کروگے (تو بے شک کرو) مگر ان سے کوئی خفیہ قول و قرار نہ کرو۔ سوا اس کے کہ مناسب طریقہ سے کوئی بات کرو۔ (اشارہ و کنایہ سے) اور جب تک مقررہ مدت پوری نہ ہو جائے۔ اس وقت تک عقد نکاح کا ارادہ بھی نہ کرو۔ اور خوب جان لو کہ خدا تمہارے دلوں کے اندر کی بات کو بھی خوب جانتا ہے۔ لہٰذا اس سے ڈرتے رہو اور خوب جان لو کہ خدا بخشنے والا اور حلیم و بردبار ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
