أَمْ
[Or, do
تَقُولُونَ
you say
إِنَّ
that
إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ
Ibrahim
وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ
and Isma'eel
وَإِسْحَٰقَ
and Ishaaq
وَيَعْقُوبَ
and Yaqoob
وَٱلْأَسْبَاطَ
and the descendants
كَانُوا۟
were
هُودًا
of sect of intimidators
أَوْ
or
نَصَٰرَىٰ
of sect of helpers?]
ۗ
قُلْ
Say,
ءَأَنتُمْ
[Are you
أَعْلَمُ
of more knowledge
أَمِ
or is
ٱللَّهُ
the One?]
ۗ
وَمَنْ
And who is
أَظْلَمُ
more wrong
مِمَّن
than someone who
كَتَمَ
concealed
شَهَٰدَةً
a testimony
عِندَهُۥ
from himself
مِنَ
belonging to
ٱللَّهِ
the One?
ۗ
وَمَا
And not is
ٱللَّهُ
the One
بِغَٰفِلٍ
with unawareness
عَمَّا
over what
تَعْمَلُونَ
you do.]

١٤٠
أَمْ تَقُولُونَ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطَ كَانُوا۟ هُودًا أَوْ نَصَٰرَىٰ ۗ قُلْ ءَأَنتُمْ أَعْلَمُ أَمِ ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن كَتَمَ شَهَٰدَةً عِندَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ [Or, do you say that Ibrahim and Isma'eel and Ishaaq and Yaqoob and the descendants were of sect of intimidators or of sect of helpers?] Say, [Are you of more knowledge or is the One?] And who is more wrong than someone who concealed a testimony from himself belonging to the One? And not is the One with unawareness over what you do.]

Or say ye that Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know best, or doth Allah? And who is more unjust than he who hideth a testimony which he hath received from Allah? Allah is not unaware of what ye do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[Ask them,] [Do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes were Jews or Christians?] Say, [Is it you who know better, or Allah?] And who is a greater wrongdoer than someone who conceals a testimony that is with him from Allah? Everyone will be responsible for his own deeds. Do you (People of the Book) claim that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and their descendants were Jews or Christians?] Ask them, [Who possesses greater knowledge, you or God? Who is more unjust than one who refuses to testify to the truth that God has given to him?] God is not unaware of what you do. - Sarwar, Muhammad

کیا تمہارا کہنا یہ ہے کہ ابراہیم علیھ السّلامً اسماعیل علیھ السّلامً اسحاق ً یعقوب علیھ السّلام ا ور اولادیعقوب علیھ السّلام یہودی یا نصرانی تھے تو اے رسول کہہ دیجئے کہ کیا تم خدا سے بہتر جانتے ہو .اور اس سے بڑا ظالم کون ہوگا جس کے پاس خدائی شہادت موجود ہو اور وہ پھر پردہ پوشی کرے اور اللہ تمہارے اعمال سے غافل نہیں ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یا پھر کیا تما را کہنا یہ ہے کہ ابراہیمؑ، اسماعیلؑ، اسحاقؑ، یعقوبؑ اور اولاد یعقوبؑ سب کے سب یہودی تھے یا نصرانی تھے؟ کہو: ——تم زیادہ جانتے ہو یا اللہ؟ اُس شخص سے بڑا ظالم اور کون ہوگا جس کے ذمے اللہ کی طرف سے ایک گواہی ہو اور وہ اُسے چھپائے؟ تمہاری حرکات سے اللہ غافل تو نہیں ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

بلکہ تم یوں کہتے ہو کہ ابراہیم ؑ و اسمٰعیل ؑ و اسحاقؑ و یعقوب ؑ اور ان کے بیٹے یہودی یا نصرانی تھے، تم فرماؤ کیا تمہیں علم زیادہ ہے یا اللہ کو اور اس سے بڑھ کر ظالم کون جس کے پاس اللہ کی طرف کی گواہی ہو اور وہ اسے چھپائے اور خدا تمہارے کوتکوں (برے اعمال) سے بے خبر نہیں- - Ahmed Raza
