Alif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Scripture which We have revealed unto thee (Muhammad) that thereby thou mayst bring forth mankind from darkness unto light, by the permission of their Lord, unto the path of the Mighty, the Owner of Praise,

And We never sent a messenger save with the language of his folk, that he might make (the message) clear for them. Then Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

We verily sent Moses with Our revelations, saying: Bring thy people forth from darkness unto light. And remind them of the days of Allah. Lo! therein are revelations for each steadfast, thankful (heart).

And whensaidMoosato his nation,[Continuously remembergift ofthe Oneupon you,whenyou were savedfromcommanders ofFir'ounwho occupied you withworst ofthe torture,and slaughteredyour able onesand humilliatedyour weak ones;and inthat for youwas a testfromyour Rabbwho is great.]
And (remind them) how Moses said unto his people: Remember Allah's favour unto you when He delivered you from Pharaoh's folk who were afflicting you with dreadful torment, and were slaying your sons and sparing your women; that was a tremendous trial from your Lord.

When Moses said to his people, [Remember Allah]s blessing upon you when He delivered you from Pharaoh]s clan who inflicted a terrible torment on you, and slaughtered your sons and spared your women, and in that there was a great test from your Lord.

Moses told his people, [Remember the favors that God granted you when He saved you from the people of the Pharaoh who had punished you in the worst manner by murdering your sons and keeping your women alive. It was a great trial for you from your Lord.

And when Musa said to his people: Call to mind Allah's favor to you when He delivered you from Firon's people, who subjected you to severe torment, and slew your sons and spared your women; and in this there was a great trial from your Lord.

Moses said to his people, [Remember God's goodness to you when He delivered you from Pharaoh's people who were treating you cruelly, putting your sons to death and sparing only your daughters. Surely that was a great trial from your Lord.

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب موسٰی نے اپنی قوم سے کہا کہ تم لوگ اللہ کی اس نعمت کو یاد کرو کہ اس نے تمہیں فرعون والوں سے نجات دلائی جب کہ وہ بدترین عذاب میں مبتلا کررہے تھے کہ تمہارے لڑکوں کو ذبح کررہے تھے اور تمہاری لڑکیوں کو (کنیزی کے لئے)زندہ رکھتے تھے اور اس میں تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے بڑا سخت امتحان تھا

یاد کرو جب موسیٰؑ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا ——اللہ کے اُس احسان کو یاد رکھو جو اس نے تم پر کیا ہے اس نے تم کو فرعون والوں سے چھڑایا جو تم کو سخت تکلیفیں دیتے تھے، تمہارے لڑکوں کو قتل کر ڈالتے تھے اور تمہاری عورتوں کو زندہ بچا رکھتے تھے اس میں تمہارے رب کی طرف سے تمہاری بڑی آزمائش تھی

اور جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا یاد کرو اپنے اوپر اللہ کا احسان جب اس نے تمہیں فرعون والوں سے نجات دی جو تم کو بری مار دیتے تھے اور تمہارے بیٹوں کو ذبح کرتے اور تمہاری بیٹیاں زندہ رکھتے، اور اس میں تمہارے رب کا بڑا فضل ہوا،

اور یاد کرو جب موسیٰ نے اپنی قوم سے کہا اللہ کے اس احسان کو یاد کرو جو اس نے تم پر کیا یعنی اس نے تمہیں فرعون والوں سے نجات دی جو تمہیں سخت عذاب پہنچاتے تھے اور وہ تمہارے لڑکوں کو ذبح کر ڈالتے تھے اور لڑکیوں کو زندہ چھوڑ دیتے تھے اور اس میں تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف سے تمہاری بڑی آزمائش تھی۔

And when said Moosa to his nation, [Continuously remember gift of the One upon you, when you were saved from commanders of Fir'oun who occupied you with worst of the torture, and slaughtered your able ones and humilliated your weak ones; and in that for you was a test from your Rabb who is great.] [ 14 : 6 ]

And when your Lord proclaimed, “If you are grateful, I will surely enhance you [in blessing], but if you are ungrateful, My punishment is indeed severe.” ]

[Remember when your Lord said to you, 'If you give thanks, I shall give you greater (favors), but if you deny the Truth, know that My retribution is severe ].

And when your Lord made it known: If you are grateful, I would certainly give to you more, and if you are ungrateful, My chastisement is truly severe.

Hath not the history of those before you reached you: the folk of Noah, and (the tribes of) A'ad and Thamud, and those after them? None save Allah knoweth them. Their messengers came unto them with clear proofs, but they thrust their hands into their mouths, and said: Lo! we disbelieve in that wherewith ye have been sent, and lo! we are in grave doubt concerning that to which ye call us.

کیا تمہیں اُن قوموں کے حالات نہیں پہنچے جو تم سے پہلے گزر چکی ہیں؟ قوم نوحؑ، عاد، ثمود اور اُن کے بعد آنے والی بہت سی قومیں جن کا شمار اللہ ہی کو معلوم ہے؟ اُن کے رسول جب اُن کے پاس صاف صاف باتیں اور کھلی کھلی نشانیاں لیے ہوئے آئے تو اُنہوں نے اپنے منہ میں ہاتھ دبا لیے اور کہا کہ ——جس پیغام کے ساتھ تم بھیجے گئے ہو ہم اس کو نہیں مانتے اور جس چیز کی تم ہمیں دعوت دیتے ہو اُس کی طرف سے ہم سخت خلجان آمیز شک میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں——

And those who disbelieved said unto their messengers: Verily we will drive you out from our land, unless ye return to our religion. Then their Lord inspired them, (saying): Verily we shall destroy the wrong-doers,

And they sought help (from their Lord) and every froward potentate was bought to naught;

They all come forth unto their Lord. Then those who were despised say unto those who were scornful: We were unto you a following, can ye then avert from us aught of Allah's doom? They say: Had Allah guided us, we should have guided you. Whether we rage or patiently endure is (now) all one for us; we have no place of refuge.

اور یہ لوگ جب اکٹھے اللہ کے سامنے بے نقاب ہوں گے تو اُس وقت اِن میں سے جو دنیا میں کمزور تھے و ہ اُن لوگوں سے جو بڑے بنے ہوئے تھے، کہیں گے ——دنیا میں ہم تمہارے تابع تھے، اب کیا تم اللہ کے عذاب سے ہم کو بچانے کے لیے بھی کچھ کرسکتے ہو؟——وہ جواب دیں گے ——اگر اللہ نے ہمیں نجات کی کوئی راہ دکھائی ہوتی تو ہم ضرور تمہیں بھی دکھا دیتے اب تو یکساں ہے، خواہ ہم جزع فزع کریں یا صبر، بہرحال ہمارے بچنے کی کوئی صورت نہیں——

And Satan saith, when the matter hath been decided: Lo! Allah promised you a promise of truth; and I promised you, then failed you. And I had no power over you save that I called unto you and ye obeyed me. So blame not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can ye help me, Lo! I disbelieved in that which ye before ascribed to me. Lo! for wrong-doers is a painful doom.

I had no authority over you, except that I called you and you responded to me. So do not blame me, but blame yourselves. I cannot respond to your distress calls, neither can you respond to my distress calls. Indeed I disavow your taking me for [Allah]s] partner aforetime. There is indeed a painful punishment for the wrongdoers.]

اور جب فیصلہ چکا دیا جائے گا تو شیطان کہے گا ——حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اللہ نے جو وعدے تم سے کیے تھے و ہ سب سچے تھے اور میں نے جتنے وعدے کیے ان میں سے کوئی بھی پورا نہ کیا میرا تم پر کوئی زور تو تھا نہیں، میں نے اِس کے سوا کچھ نہیں کیا کہ اپنے راستے کی طرف تمہیں دعوت دی اور تم نے میری دعوت پر لبیک کہا اب مجھے ملامت نہ کرو، اپنے آپ ہی کو ملامت کرو یہاں نہ میں تمہاری فریاد رسی کر سکتا ہوں اور نہ تم میر ی اس سے پہلے جو تم نے مجھے خدائی میں شریک بنا رکھا تھا میں اس سے بری الذمہ ہوں، ایسے ظالموں کے لیے درد ناک سزا یقینی ہے——

اور جب (ہر قسم کا) فیصلہ ہو جائے گا تو اس وقت شیطان کہے گا کہ بے شک اللہ نے تم سے جو وعدہ کیا تھا وہ سچا تھا اور میں نے بھی تم سے وعدہ کیا تھا مگر میں نے تم سے وعدہ خلافی کی اور مجھے تم پر کوئی تسلط (زور) تو تھا نہیں سوائے اس کے کہ میں نے تمہیں (کفر اور گناہ کی) دعوت دی اور تم نے میری دعوت قبول کر لی پس تم مجھے ملامت نہ کرو (بلکہ) خود اپنے آپ کو ملامت کرو (آج) نہ میں تمہاری فریاد رسی کر سکتا ہوں۔ اور نہ تم میری فریاد رسی کر سکتے ہو اس سے پہلے (دنیا میں) جو تم نے مجھے (خدا کا) شریک بنایا تھا میں اس سے بیزار ہوں بے شک ظالموں کے لئے دردناک عذاب ہے۔

Our Lord! Lo! I have settled some of my posterity in an uncultivable valley near unto Thy holy House, our Lord! that they may establish proper worship; so incline some hearts of men that they may yearn toward them, and provide Thou them with fruits in order that they may be thankful.

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc. 2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
