The hypocrites fear lest a surah should be revealed concerning them, proclaiming what is in their hearts. Say: Scoff (your fill)! Lo! Allah is disclosing what ye fear. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And if thou ask them (O Muhammad) they will say: We did but talk and jest. Say: Was it at Allah and His revelations and His messenger that ye did scoff? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

If you question them [regarding their conduct], they will surely say, [We were just gossiping and amusing ourselves.] Say, [Were you deriding Allah, His signs, and His apostles? - Qarai, Ali Quli

If you question them about their manners, they say, [We were only arguing for the sake of amusement.] Ask them, [Were you mocking God, His revelations, and His Messenger?] - Sarwar, Muhammad

ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍۢ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ ۚ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

The hypocrites, both men and women, proceed one from another. They enjoin the wrong, and they forbid the right, and they withhold their hands (from spending for the cause of Allah). They forget Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَعَدَ
Promises,
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ
the hypocrite men
وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ
and the hypocrite women
وَٱلْكُفَّارَ
and the deniers,
نَارَ
fire of
جَهَنَّمَ
hell
خَٰلِدِينَ
for them to live
فِيهَا
therein;
ۚ
هِىَ
it is
حَسْبُهُمْ
their reckoning,
ۚ
وَلَعَنَهُمُ
and damned they are by
ٱللَّهُ
the One,
ۖ
وَلَهُمْ
and for them
عَذَابٌۭ
a punishment that is
مُّقِيمٌۭ
stable.
٩
٦٨
وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ هِىَ حَسْبُهُمْ ۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ مُّقِيمٌۭ Promises, the One, the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women and the deniers, fire of hell for them to live therein; it is their reckoning, and damned they are by the One, and for them a punishment that is stable.

Allah promiseth the hypocrites, both men and women, and the disbelievers fire of hell for their abode. It will suffice them. Allah curseth them, and theirs is lasting torment. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah has promised the hypocrites, men and women, and the faithless, the Fire of hell, to remain in it [forever]. That suffices them. Allah has cursed them, and there is a lasting punishment for them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

For the hypocrites and the unbelievers, God has prepared hell wherein they will live forever. Hell is their proper punishment. God has condemned them and they will suffer a permanent torment - Sarwar, Muhammad

Allah has promised the hypocritical men and the hypocritical women and the unbelievers the fire of hell to abide therein; it is enough for them; and Allah has cursed them and they shall have lasting punishment. - Shakir, Habib

وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ

هُمُ

ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ

كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةًۭ وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٰلًۭا وَأَوْلَٰدًۭا فَٱسْتَمْتَعُوا۟ بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ فَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَٰقِكُمْ كَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓا۟ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Even as those before you who were mightier than you in strength, and more affluent than you in wealth and children. They enjoyed their lot awhile, so ye enjoy your lot awhile even as those before you did enjoy their lot awhile. And ye prate even as they prated. Such are they whose works have perished in the world and the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[Hypocrites! Your case is] similar to those who were before you, who were more powerful than you and more abounding in wealth and children: they enjoyed their share [of worldly existence]; you too enjoy your share, just like those who were before you enjoyed their share, and you have gossiped [impiously] as they gossiped. They are the ones whose works have failed in this world and the Hereafter; and it is they who are the losers. - Qarai, Ali Quli

like that of those who lived before you, whose power, wealth, and children were much greater than yours. They enjoyed their share of the worldly gains and you, also, like them, have enjoyed yours. You have been sneaking among the people to cause trouble, just as they had been doing before you. Such people's deeds are devoid of all virtue both in this life and in the life hereafter. تم لوگوں کے رنگ ڈھنگ وہی ہیں جو تمہارے پیش روؤں کے تھے وہ تم سے زیادہ زور آور اور تم سے بڑھ کر مال اور اولاد والے تھے پھر انہوں نے دنیا میں اپنے حصہ کے مزے لوٹ لیے اور تم نے بھی اپنے حصے کے مزے اسی طرح لوٹے جیسے انہوں نے لوٹے تھے، اور ویسی ہی بحثوں میں تم بھی پڑے جیسی بحثوں میں وہ پڑے تھے، سو ان کا انجام یہ ہوا کہ دنیا اور آخرت میں ان کا سب کیا دھرا ضائع ہو گیا اور وہی خسارے میں ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

جیسے وہ جو تم سے پہلے تھے تم سے زور میں بڑھ کر تھے اور ان کے مال اور اولاد سے زیادہ، تو وہ اپنا حصہ برت گئے تو تم نے اپنا حصہ برتا جیسے اگلے اپنا حصہ برت گئے اور تم بیہودگی میں پڑے جیسے وہ پڑے تھے ان کے عمل اکارت گئے دنیا اور آخرت میں اور وہی لوگ گھاٹے میں ہیں - Ahmed Raza

(اے منافقو! تمہاری حالت) ان لوگوں جیسی ہے جو تم سے پہلے گزر چکے۔ جو تم سے زیادہ طاقتور تھے اور مال و اولاد بھی تم سے زیادہ رکھتے تھے پس انہوں نے اپنے (دنیوی) حصہ سے فائدہ اٹھایا اور تم نے بھی اپنے (دنیوی) حصہ سے اسی طرح فائدہ اٹھایا جس طرح تم سے پہلے گزرے ہوؤں نے فائدہ اٹھایا تھا۔ اور تم بھی ویسے ہی لغو بحثوں میں پڑے جیسے وہ پڑے تھے۔ یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے اعمال دنیا و آخرت میں اکارت ہوئے اور یہی لوگ ہیں جو گھاٹا اٹھانے والے ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍۢ وَعَادٍۢ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتِ ۚ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Hath not the fame of those before them reached them - the folk of Noah, A'ad, Thamud, the folk of Abraham, the dwellers of Midian and the disasters (which befell them)? Their messengers (from Allah) came unto them with proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). So Allah surely wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Has there not come to them the account of those who were before them—the people of Noah, [Ad, and Tham£d, and the people of Abraham, the inhabitants of Midian, and the towns that were overturned? Their apostles brought them manifest proofs. So it was not Allah who wronged them, but it was they who used to wrong themselves. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Have they not heard the stories of the people of Noah, the tribe of Ad, Thamud, the people of Abraham, the dwellers of the city of Midian, and those of the Subverted Cities? God's Messengers came to each of them with miracles. God did not do any injustice to them, but they wronged themselves. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Has not the news of those before them come to them; of the people of Nuh and Ad and Samood, and the people of Ibrahim and the dwellers of Madyan and the overthrown cities; their apostles came to them with clear arguments; so it was not Allah Who should do them injustice, but they were unjust to themselves. - Shakir, Habib

کیا ان لوگوں کے پاس ان سے پہلے والے افراد قوم نوح علیھ السّلام ,عاد علیھ السّلام ,ثمود علیھ السّلام ,قوم ابراہیم علیھ السّلام,اصحاب مدین اور الٹ دی جانے والی بستیوں کی خبرنہیں آئی جن کے پاس ان کے رسول واضح نشانیاں لے کر آئے اور انہوں نے انکار کردیا -خدا کسی پر ظلم کرنے والا نہیں ہے لوگ خود اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

کیا اِن لوگوں کو اپنے پیش روؤں کی تاریخ نہیں پہنچی؟ نوحؑ کی قوم، عاد، ثمود، ابراہیمؑ کی قوم، مدین کے لوگ اور وہ بستیاں جنہیں الٹ دیا گیا اُن کے رسول ان کے پاس کھلی کھلی نشانیاں لے کر آئے، پھر یہ اللہ کا کام نہ تھا کہ ان پر ظلم کرتا مگر وہ آپ ہی اپنے اوپر ظلم کرنے والے تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allah and His messenger. Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah has promised the faithful, men and women, gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever], and good dwellings in the Gardens of Eden. Yet Allah]s pleasure is greater [than all these]; that is the great success. - Qarai, Ali Quli
