And if thou fearest treachery from any folk, then throw back to them (their treaty) fairly. Lo! Allah loveth not the treacherous. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And if you fear treachery from a people, break off [the treaty] with them in a like manner. Indeed Allah does not like the treacherous. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If you are afraid of the treachery of some of your allies, you may disregard your treaty with them. God does not love the treacherous ones. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And if you fear treachery on the part of a people, then throw back to them on terms of equality; surely Allah does not love the treacherous. - Shakir, Habib

Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered, that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside them whom ye know not. Allah knoweth them. Whatsoever ye spend in the way of Allah it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Prepare against them whatever you can of [military] power and war-horses, awing thereby the enemy of Allah, and your enemy, and others besides them, whom you do not know, but Allah knows them. Mobilize your (defensive) force as much as you can to frighten the enemies of God and your own enemies. This also will frighten those who are behind them whom you do not know but God knows well. اور تم لوگ، جہاں تک تمہارا بس چلے، زیادہ سے زیادہ طاقت اور تیار بندھے رہنے والے گھوڑے اُن کے مقابلہ کے لیے مہیا رکھو تاکہ اس کے ذریعہ سے اللہ کے اور اپنے دشمنوں کو اور ان دُوسرے اعداء کو خوف زدہ کرو جنہیں تم نہیں جانتے مگر اللہ جانتا ہے اللہ کی راہ میں جو کچھ تم خرچ کرو گے اس کا پورا پورا بدل تمہاری طرف پلٹایا جائے گا اور تمہارے ساتھ ہرگز ظلم نہ ہوگا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ان کے لیے تیار رکھو جو قوت تمہیں بن پڑے اور جتنے گھوڑے باندھ سکو کہ ان سے ان کے دلوں میں دھاک بٹھاؤ جو اللہ کے دشمن ہیں اور ان کے سوا کچھ اوروں کے دلوں میں جنہیں تم نہیں جانتے اللہ انہیں جانتا ہے اور اللہ کی راہ میں جو کچھ خرچ کرو گے تمہیں پورا دیا جائے گا اور کسی طرح گھاٹے میں نہ رہو گے، - Ahmed Raza

And if they would deceive thee, then lo! Allah is Sufficient for thee. He it is Who supporteth thee with His help and with the believers, - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But if they desire to deceive you, Allah is indeed sufficient for you. It is He who strengthened you with His help and with the means of the faithful, - Qarai, Ali Quli

If they want to deceive you, God is All-sufficient for you. It is God who supported you with His own help and with that of the believers, - Sarwar, Muhammad

And if they intend to deceive you-- then surely Allah is sufficient for you; He it is Who strengthened you with His help and with the believers - Shakir, Habib

And (as for the believers) hath attuned their hearts. If thou hadst spent all that is in the earth thou couldst not have attuned their hearts, but Allah hath attuned them. Lo! He is Mighty, Wise. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

and united their hearts. Had you spent all that is in the earth, you could not have united their hearts, but Allah united them together. Indeed He is all-mighty, all-wise. - Qarai, Ali Quli

among whose hearts He has placed affection and unity. If you were to spend the wealth of the whole earth, you would not have been able to unite their hearts but God has been able to unite them. God is Majestic and All-wise. - Sarwar, Muhammad

اور ان کے دلوں میں محبّت پیدا کردی ہے کہ اگر آپ ساری دنیا خرچ کردیتے تو بھی ان کے دلوں میں باہمی الفت نہیں پیدا کرسکتے تھے لیکن خدا نے یہ الفت و محبّت پیدا کردی ہے کہ وہ ہر شے پر غالب اور صاحب هحکمت ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور مومنوں کے دل ایک دُوسرے کے ساتھ جوڑ دیے تم روئے زمین کی ساری دولت بھی خرچ کر ڈالتے تو اِن لوگوں کے دل نہ جوڑ سکتے تھے مگر وہ اللہ ہے جس نے ان لوگوں کے دل جوڑے، یقیناً وہ بڑا زبردست اور دانا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

O Prophet! Exhort the believers to fight. If there be of you twenty steadfast they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a hundred (steadfast) they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (the disbelievers) are a folk without intelligence. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O Prophet! Urge on the faithful to fight: If there be twenty patient men among you, they shall overcome two hundred; and if there be a hundred of you, they shall overcome a thousand of the faithless, for they are a lot who do not understand. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Now hath Allah lightened your burden, for He knoweth that there is weakness in you. So if there be of you a steadfast hundred they shall overcome two hundred, and if there be of you a thousand (steadfast) they shall overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. اچھا، اب اللہ نے تمہارا بوجھ ہلکا کیا اور اسے معلوم ہوا کہ ابھی تم میں کمزوری ہے، پس اگر تم میں سے سو آدمی صابر ہوں تو وہ دو سو پر اور ہزار آدمی ایسے ہوں تو دو ہزار پر اللہ کے حکم سے غالب آئیں گے، اور اللہ ان لوگوں کے ساتھ ہے جو صبر کرنے والے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اب اللہ نے تم پر سے تخفیف فرمائی اور اسے علم کہ تم کمزو ر ہو تو اگر تم میں سو صبر والے ہوں د و سو پر غالب آئیں گے اور اگر تم میں کے ہزار ہوں تو دو ہزار پر غالب ہوں گے اللہ کے حکم سے اور اللہ صبر والوں کے ساتھ ہے، - Ahmed Raza

It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land. Ye desire the lure of this world and Allah desireth (for you) the Hereafter, and Allah is Mighty, Wise. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

A prophet may not take captives until he has thoroughly decimated [the enemy] in the land. You desire the transitory gains of this world, while Allah desires [for you] [the reward of] the Hereafter, and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise. - Qarai, Ali Quli

The Prophet is not supposed to take any captives to strengthen his position on the earth. You want worldly gains but God wants the life hereafter for you. God is Majestic and All-wise. - Sarwar, Muhammad

It is not fit for a prophet that he should take captives unless he has fought and triumphed in the land; you desire the frail goods of this world, while Allah desires (for you) the hereafter; and Allah is Mighty, Wise. - Shakir, Habib

کسی نبی کے لیے یہ زیبا نہیں ہے کہ اس کے پاس قیدی ہوں جب تک کہ وہ زمین میں دشمنوں کو اچھی طرح کچل نہ دے تم لوگ دنیا کے فائدے چاہتے ہو، حالانکہ اللہ کے پیشِ نظر آخرت ہے، اور اللہ غالب اور حکیم ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

کسی نبی کو لائئق نہیں کہ کافروں کو زندہ قید کرلے جب تک زمین میں ان کا خون خوب نہ بہائے تم لوگ دنیا کا مال چا ہتے ہو او ر اللہ آخرت چاہتا ہے اور اللہ غالب حکمت والا ہے - Ahmed Raza
