But the chieftains of his people, who were disbelieving, said: If ye follow Shu'eyb, then truly ye shall be the losers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The elite of his people who were faithless said, [If you follow Shu'ayb, you will indeed be losers.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

A group of the unbelievers among his people told the others, [If you follow Shu'ayb, you will certainly lose a great deal.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

And the chiefs of those who disbelieved from among his people said: If you follow Shu'aib, you shall then most surely be losers - Shakir, Habib

تو ان کی قوم کے کفاّر نے کہا کہ اگر تم لوگ شعیب علیھ السّلامکا اتباع کرلو گے تو تمہارا شمار خسارہ والوں میں ہوجائے گا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّى وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ ءَاسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۢ كَٰفِرِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

So he turned from them and said: O my people! I delivered my Lord's messages unto you and gave you good advice; then how can I sorrow for a people that rejected (truth)? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So he abandoned them [to their fate] and said, [O my people! Certainly, I communicated to you the messages of my Lord, and I was your well-wisher. So how should I grieve for a faithless lot?] - Qarai, Ali Quli

He turned away from them saying, [My people, I preached the Message of my Lord to you and gave you good advice. How could I be sorry for the unbelievers?] - Sarwar, Muhammad

So he turned away from them and said: O my people! certainly I delivered to you the messages of my Lord and I gave you good advice; how shall I then be sorry for an unbelieving people? - Shakir, Habib

اور شعیبؑ یہ کہہ کر ان کی بستیوں سے نکل گیا کہ ——اے برادران قوم، میں نے اپنے رب کے پیغامات تمہیں پہنچا دیے اور تمہاری خیر خواہی کا حق ادا کر دیا اب میں اُس قوم پر کیسے افسوس کروں جو قبول حق سے انکار کرتی ہے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ ٱلسَّيِّئَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوا۟ وَّقَالُوا۟ قَدْ مَسَّ ءَابَآءَنَا ٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَٱلسَّرَّآءُ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةًۭ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Then changed We the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said: Tribulation and distress did touch our fathers. Then We seized them unawares, when they perceived not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then We changed the ill [conditions] to good until they multiplied [in numbers] and said, [Adversity and ease befell our fathers [too].] Then We seized them suddenly while they were unaware. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We then replaced their misfortune with well-being until they were relieved and began saying, [Our fathers had also experienced good and bad days.] Suddenly, We struck them (with torment) while they were all unaware (of what was happening). - Sarwar, Muhammad

وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَٰتٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبُوا۟ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

کیا ایک قوم کے بعد دوسرے زمین کے وارث ہونے والوں کو یہ ہدایت نہیں ملتی کہ اگر ہم چاہتے تو ان کے گناہوں کی بنا پر انہیں بھی مبتلائے مصیبت کردیتے اور ان کے دلوں پر مہرلگادیتے اور پھر انہیں کچھ سنائی نہ دیتا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور کیا اُن لوگوں کو جو سابق اہل زمین کے بعد زمین کے وارث ہوتے ہیں، اِس امر واقعی نے کچھ سبق نہیں دیا کہ اگر ہم چاہیں تو ان کے قصوروں پر انہیں پکڑ سکتے ہیں؟ (مگر وہ سبق آموز حقائق سے تغافل برتتے ہیں) اور ہم ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگا دیتے ہیں، پھر وہ کچھ نہیں سنتے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Such were the townships. We relate some tidings of them unto thee (Muhammad). Their messengers verily came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they could not believe because they had before denied. Thus doth Allah print upon the hearts of disbelievers (that they hear not). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

These are the towns some of whose accounts We recount to you. Their apostles certainly brought them manifest proofs, but they were not the ones to believe in what they had denied earlier. Thus does Allah put a seal on the hearts of the faithless. - Qarai, Ali Quli
