So when they took pride in that which they had been forbidden, We said unto them: Be ye apes despised and loathed! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When they defied [the command pertaining to] what they were forbidden from, We said to them, [Be you spurned apes.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When they crossed the limit of the prohibition, We made them turn into detested apes. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden, We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated. - Shakir, Habib

پھر جب دوبارہ ممانعت کے باوجود سرکشی کی تو ہم نے حکم دے دیا کہ اب ذلّت کے ساتھ بندر بن جاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر جب وہ پوری سرکشی کے ساتھ وہی کام کیے چلے گئے جس سے انہیں روکا گیا تھا، تو ہم نے کہا کہ بندر ہو جاؤ ذلیل اور خوار - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر جب انہوں نے ممانعت کے حکم سے سرکشی کی ہم نے ان سے فرمایا ہوجاؤ بند ر دھتکارے ہوئے - Ahmed Raza

(جب یہ عذاب بھی ان کو سرکشی سے باز نہ رکھ سکا) اور وہ برابر سرکشی کرتے چلے گئے ان چیزوں کے بارے میں جن سے ان کو روکا گیا تھا تو ہم نے کہا بندر ہو جاؤ ذلیل اور راندے ہوئے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَن يَسُومُهُمْ سُوٓءَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ ٱلْعِقَابِ ۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And (remember) when thy Lord proclaimed that He would raise against them till the Day of Resurrection those who would lay on them a cruel torment. Lo! verily thy Lord is swift in prosecution and lo! verily He is Forgiving, Merciful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And when your Lord proclaimed that He would surely send against them, until the Day of Resurrection, those who would inflict on them a terrible punishment. Indeed your Lord is swift in retribution, and indeed, He is all-forgiving, all-merciful. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), consider, when your Lord declared to the (Israelites) His decision to raise a people above them who would make them suffer the worst kinds of torments until the Day of Judgment. Certainly your Lord's retribution is swift. He is All-forgiving and All-merciful. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when your Lord announced that He would certainly send against them to the day of resurrection those who would subject them to severe torment; most surely your Lord is quick to requite (evil) and most surely He is Forgiving, Merciful. - Shakir, Habib

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب تمھارے پروردگار نے علی الاعلان کہہ دیا کہ قیامت تک ان پر ایسے افراد مسلّط کئے جائیں گے جو انھیں بدترین سختیوں میں مبتلا کریں گے کہ تمھارا پروردگار جلدی عذاب کرنے والا بھی ہے اور بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا مہربان بھی ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور یاد کرو جبکہ تمہارے رب نے اعلان کر دیا کہ ——وہ قیامت تک برابر ایسے لوگ بنی اسرائیل پر مسلط کرتا رہے گا جو ان کو بدترین عذاب دیں گے،—— یقیناً تمہارا رب سزا دینے میں تیز دست ہے اور یقیناً وہ در گزر اور رحم سے بھی کام لینے والا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب تمہارے رب نے حکم سنادیا کہ ضرور قیامت کے دن تک ان پر ایسے کو بھیجتا رہوں گا جو انہیں بری مار چکھائے بیشک تمہارا رب ضرور جلد عذاب والا ہے اور بیشک وہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے - Ahmed Raza

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُمَمًۭا ۖ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَبَلَوْنَٰهُم بِٱلْحَسَنَٰتِ وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We have sundered them in the earth as (separate) nations. Some of them are righteous, and some far from that. And We have tried them with good things and evil things that haply they might return. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We dispersed them into communities around the earth: some of them were righteous, and some of them otherwise, and We tested them with good and bad [times] so that they may come back. - Qarai, Ali Quli

ہم نے ان کو زمین میں ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر کے بہت سی قوموں میں تقسیم کر دیا کچھ لوگ ان میں نیک تھے اور کچھ ا س سے مختلف اور ہم ان کو اچھے اور برے حالات سے آزمائش میں مبتلا کرتے رہے کہ شاید یہ پلٹ آئیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور انہیں ہم نے زمین میں متفرق کردیا گروہ گروہ، ان میں کچھ نیک ہیں اور کچھ اور طرح کے اور ہم نے انہیں بھلائیوں اور برائیوں سے آزمایا کہ کہیں وہ رجوع لائیں - Ahmed Raza

اور ہم نے ان کو زمین میں مختلف فرقوں کی صورت میں ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کر دیا۔ ان میں سے ناپائیدار ہوگا کچھ لوگ تو نیک ہیں اور کچھ اس کے خلاف اور طرح کے (بدکار) ہیں۔ اور ہم ان کو اچھے اور برے حالات میں مبتلا کرکے آزماتے ہیں تاکہ وہ باز آجائیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌۭ وَرِثُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَٰذَا ٱلْأَدْنَىٰ وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِن يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌۭ مِّثْلُهُۥ يَأْخُذُوهُ ۚ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِم مِّيثَٰقُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أَن لَّا يَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ ۗ وَٱلدَّارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And a generation hath succeeded them who inherited the scriptures. They grasp the goods of this low life (as the price of evil-doing) and say: It will be forgiven us. And if there came to them (again) the offer of the like, they would accept it (and would sin again). Hath not the covenant of the Scripture been taken on their behalf that they should not speak aught concerning Allah save the truth? And they have studied that which is therein. And the abode of the Hereafter is better, for those who ward off (evil). Have ye then no sense? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then they were succeeded by an evil posterity, which inherited the Book: they grab the transitory gains of this lower world, and say, [It will be forgiven us.] And if similar transitory gains were to come their way, they would grab them too. Was not the covenant of the Book taken with them that they shall not attribute anything to Allah except the truth? They have studied what is in it, and [know that] the abode of the Hereafter is better for those who are Godwary. Do you not exercise your reason? - Qarai, Ali Quli

Their descendants who inherited the Book gained (by bribery only) worthless things from the worldly life saying, [We shall be forgiven (for what we have done). They would have even doubled such gains if they could have received more. Did they not make a covenant (with God) in the Book not to speak any thing other than the Truth about God and to study its contents well? The life hereafter is much better for the pious ones. Will you not then think? - Sarwar, Muhammad

Then there came after them an evil posterity who inherited the Book, taking only the frail good of this low life and saying: It will be forgiven us. And if the like good came to them, they would take it (too). Was not a promise taken from them in the Book that they would not speak anything about Allah but the truth, and they have read what is in it; and the abode of the hereafter is better for those who guard (against evil). Do you not then understand? - Shakir, Habib

They were succeeded by generations who inherited the Scripture and took to the fleeting gains of this world, saying, [We shall certainly be forgiven.] If there came to them similar fleeting gains again, they would take them. Was a pledge not taken from them, written in the Scripture, that they would not say anything but the truth about God? And they have studied whatever is in it. Surely the Home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Him. Will you not understand? - Wahiduddin Khan

اس کے بعد ان میں ایک نسل پیدا ہوئی جو کتاب کی وراث تو بنی لیکن دنیا کا ہر مال لیتی رہی اور یہ کہتی رہی کہ عنقریب ہمیں بخش دیا جائے گا اور پھر ویسا ہی مال مل گیا تو پھر لے لیا تو کیا ان سے کتاب کا عہد نہیں لیا گیا کہ خبردار خدا کے بارے میں حق کے علاوہ کچھ نہ کہیں اور انہوں نے کتاب کو پڑھا بھی ہے اور دار آخرت ہی صاحبان هتقویٰ کے لئے بہترین ہے کیا تمھاری سمجھ میں نہیں آتا ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر اگلی نسلوں کے بعد ایسے نا خلف لوگ ان کے جانشین ہوئے جو کتاب الٰہی کے وارث ہو کر اِسی دنیائے دنی کے فائدے سمیٹتے ہیں اور کہہ دیتے ہیں کہ توقع ہے ہمیں معاف کر دیا جائے گا، اور اگر وہی متاع دنیا پھر سامنے آتی ہے تو پھر لپک کر اسے لے لیتے ہیں کیا ان سے کتاب کا عہد نہیں لیا جا چکا ہے کہ اللہ کے نام پر وہی بات کہیں جو حق ہو؟ اور یہ خود پڑھ چکے ہیں جو کتاب میں لکھا ہے آخرت کی قیام گاہ تو خدا ترس لوگوں کے لیے ہی بہتر ہے، کیا تم اتنی سی بات نہیں سمجھتے؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر ان کی جگہ ان کے بعد وہ ناخلف آئے کہ کتاب کے وارث ہوئے اس دنیا کا مال لیتے ہیں اور کہتے اب ہماری بخشش ہوگی اور اگر ویسا ہی مال ان کے پاس اور آئے تو لے لیں کیا ان پر کتاب میں عہد نہ لیا گیا کہ اللہ کی طرف نسبت نہ کریں مگر حق اور انہوں نے اسے پڑھا اور بیشک پچھلا گھر بہتر ہے پرہیزگاروں کو تو کیا تمہیں عقل نہیں، - Ahmed Raza

پھر ان کے بعد ایسے ناخلف لوگ ان کے جانشین ہوئے اور کتابِ الٰہی کے وارث بنے جو (دین فروشی کرکے) دنیائے دوں کے مال و متاع اور ساز و سامان جمع کرتے اور سمیٹتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ امید ہے کہ ہم بخش دیے جائیں گے اور اگر اتنا ہی اور عارضی ساز و سامان ان کے ہاتھ لگ جائے تو اسے بھی بے دریغ لے لیتے ہیں۔ کیا ان سے کتاب (توراۃ) والا یہ عہد و پیمان نہیں لیا گیا تھا کہ وہ اللہ کی نسبت حق کے سوا اور کوئی بات نہیں کہیں گے؟ اور یہ خود کتاب میں پڑھ چکے ہیں جو اس میں لکھا ہے اور آخرت والا گھر پرہیزگاروں کے لیے بہتر ہے کیا تم عقل سے کام نہیں لیتے؟ - Najafi, Muhammad

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُصْلِحِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And as for those who make (men) keep the Scripture, and establish worship - lo! We squander not the wages of reformers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

As for those who hold fast to the Book and maintain the prayer—indeed, We do not waste the reward of those who bring about reform. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who devote themselves to the teachings of the Book and are steadfast in prayer (should know that) the reward of those who reform themselves will not be lost. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And (as for) those who hold fast by the Book and keep up prayer, surely We do not waste the reward of the right doers. - Shakir, Habib

وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا ٱلْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُۥ ظُلَّةٌۭ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ وَاقِعٌۢ بِهِمْ خُذُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٍۢ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And when We shook the Mount above them as it were a covering, and they supposed that it was going to fall upon them (and We said): Hold fast that which We have given you, and remember that which is therein, that ye may ward off (evil). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When We plucked the mountain [and held it] above them as if it were a canopy (and they thought it was about to fall on them): [Hold on with power to what We have given you and remember that which is in it, so that you may be Godwary.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When We raised the mount above them as a shadow and made it speak to them, they thought that it would fall on them. We told them to devote themselves decisively to what was given to them and follow its guidance so that they would have fear of God. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when We shook the mountain over them as if it were a covering overhead, and they thought that it was going to fall down upon them: Take hold of what We have given you with firmness, and be mindful of what is in it, so that you may guard (against evil). - Shakir, Habib

اور اس وقت کو یاد دلِاؤ جب ہم نے پہاڑ کو ایک سائبان کی طرح ان کے سروں پر معلّق کردیا اور انہوں نے گمان کرلیا کہ یہ اب گرنے والا ہے تو ہم نے کہا کہ توریت کو مضبوطی کے ساتھ پکڑو اور جو کچھ اس میں ہے اسے یاد کرو شاید اس طرح متقی اور پرہیزگار بن جاؤ - Jawadi, Zeeshan

انہیں وہ وقت بھی کچھ یاد ہے جبکہ ہم نے پہاڑ کو ہلا کر ان پر اس طرح چھا دیا تھا کہ گویا وہ چھتری ہے اور یہ گمان کر رہے تھے کہ وہ ان پر آ پڑے گا اور اُس وقت ہم نے ان سے کہا تھا کہ جو کتاب ہم تمہیں دے رہے ہیں اسے مضبوطی کے ساتھ تھامو اور جو کچھ اس میں لکھا ہے اسے یاد رکھو، توقع ہے کہ تم غلط روی سے بچے رہو گے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ ۛ شَهِدْنَآ ۛ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And (remember) when thy Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their reins, their seed, and made them testify of themselves, (saying): Am I not your Lord? They said: Yea, verily. We testify. (That was) lest ye should say at the Day of Resurrection: Lo! of this we were unaware; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When your Lord took from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their descendants and made them bear witness over themselves, [He said to them,] [Am I not your Lord?] They said, [Yes indeed! We bear witness.] [This,] lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, [Indeed we were unaware of this,] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When your Lord asked all the offspring of Adam (before their birth), [Am I not your Lord?] All of them testified and bore witness to their testimony that on the Day of Judgment they would not say, [We were not aware of this (fact),] - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when your Lord brought forth from the children of Adam, from their backs, their descendants, and made them bear witness against their own souls: Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes! we bear witness. Lest you should say on the day of resurrection: Surely we were heedless of this. - Shakir, Habib

When your Lord brought forth offspring from the loins of the Children of Adam and made them bear witness about themselves, He said, [Am I not your Lord?] They replied, [We bear witness that You are.] This He did, lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, [We had no knowledge of that.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور جب تمھارے پروردگار نے فرزند ان آدم علیھ السّلامکی پشتوں سے انکی ذرّیت کو لے کر انھیںخود ان کے اوپر گواہ بناکر سوال کیا کہ کیا میں تمھارا خدا نہیں ہوں تو سب نے کہا بیشک ہم اس کے گواہ ہیں -یہ عہد اس لئے لیا کہ روز هقیامت یہ نہ کہہ سکو کہ ہم اس عہد سے غافل تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اے نبی، لوگوں کو یاد دلاؤ وہ وقت جبکہ تمہارے رب نے بنی آدم کی پشتوں سے ان کی نسل کو نکالا تھا اور انہیں خود ان کے اوپر گواہ بناتے ہوئے پوچھا تھا ——کیا میں تمہارا رب نہیں ہوں؟—— انہوں نے کہا ——ضرور آپ ہی ہمارے رب ہیں، ہم اس پر گواہی دیتے ہیں—— یہ ہم نے اس لیے کیا کہ کہیں تم قیامت کے روز یہ نہ کہہ دو کہ ——ہم تو اس بات سے بے خبر تھے،—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اے محبوب! یاد کرو جب تمہارے رب نے اولاد آدم کی پشت سے ان کی نسل نکالی اور انہیں خود ان پر گواہ کیا، کیا میں تمہارا رب نہیں سب بولے کیوں نہیں ہم گواہ ہوئے کہ کہیں قیامت کے دن کہو کہ ہمیں اس کی خبر نہ تھی - Ahmed Raza

Or lest ye should say: (It is) only (that) our fathers ascribed partners to Allah of old and we were (their) seed after them. Wilt Thou destroy us on account of that which those who follow falsehood did? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

or lest you should say, [Our fathers ascribed partners [to Allah] before [us] and we were descendants after them. Will You then destroy us because of what the falsifiers have done?] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Or you should say: Only our fathers associated others (with Allah) before, and we were an offspring after them: Wilt Thou then destroy us for what the vain doers did? - Shakir, Habib

Or lest you say, [Our forefathers associated others with God before our time, and we are only the descendants who came after them. So are You going to destroy us for what those inventors of falsehood did?] - Wahiduddin Khan

وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَٱنسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْغَاوِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Recite unto them the tale of him to whom We gave Our revelations, but he sloughed them off, so Satan overtook him and he became of those who lead astray. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Relate to them an account of him to whom We gave Our signs, but he cast them off. Thereupon Satan pursued him, and he became one of the perverse. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), tell them the story of the person whom We inspired with Our guidance, but who detached himself from it and who was then pursued by Satan until he turned into a rebel. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Recite to them the tale of the man to whom We gave Our signs, but who then cast them to one side and Satan overtook him. And he became one of those who went astray, - Wahiduddin Khan

اور انھیں اس شخص کی خبر سنائیے جس کو ہم نے اپنی آیتیں عطا کیں پھر وہ ان سے بالکل الگ ہوگیا اور شیطان نے اس کا پیچھا پکڑلیا تو وہ گمراہوں میں ہوگیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اے محمدؐ، اِن کے سامنے اُس شخص کا حال بیان کرو جس کو ہم نے اپنی آیات کا علم عطا کیا تھا مگر وہ ان کی پابندی سے نکل بھاگا آخرکار شیطان اس کے پیچھے پڑ گیا یہاں تک کہ وہ بھٹکنے والوں میں شامل ہو کر رہا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اے محبوب! انہیں اس کا احوال سناؤ جسے ہم نے اپنی آیتیں دیں تو وہ ان سے صاف نکل گیا تو شیطان اس کے پیچھے لگا تو گمراہوں میں ہوگیا، - Ahmed Raza

And had We willed We could have raised him by their means, but he clung to the earth and followed his own lust. Therefor his likeness is as the likeness of a dog: if thou attackest him he panteth with his tongue out, and if thou leavest him he panteth with his tongue out. Such is the likeness of the people who deny Our revelations. Narrate unto them the history (of the men of old), that haply they may take thought. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Had We wished, We would have surely raised him by their means, but he clung to the earth and followed his [base] desires. So his parable is that of a dog: if you make for it, it lolls out its tongue, and if you let it alone, it lolls out its tongue. Such is the parable of the people who deny Our signs. Had We wanted, We could have raised him to an exalted position but he clung to his earthly life and followed his own (evil) desires. Such person's bad habits are like those of a lazy dog (in a warm climate) who always has its tongue hanging out whether you chase it away or leave it alone. Such are the people who have called Our revelations mere lies. (Muhammad), tell them such stories so that perhaps they will think. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And if We had pleased, We would certainly have exalted him thereby; but he clung to the earth and followed his low desire, so his parable is as the parable of the dog; if you attack him he lolls out his tongue; and if you leave him alone he lolls out his tongue; this is the parable of the people who reject Our communications; therefore relate the narrative that they may reflect. - Shakir, Habib

if it had been Our will, We could have used these signs to exalt him, but instead he clung to the earth and followed his own desires, he was like a dog that pants whether you chase it away or leave it alone. اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو اسے ان ہی آیتوں کے سبب بلند کردیتے لیکن وہ خود زمین کی طرف جھک گیا اور اس نے خواہشات کی پیروی اختیار کرلی تو اب اس کی مثال کِتّے جیسی ہے کہ اس پر حملہ کرو توبھی زبان نکالے رہے اور چھوڑ دو تو بھی زبان نکالے رہے -یہ اس قوم کی مثال ہے جس نے ہماری آیات کی تکذیب کی تو اب آپ ان قصّوں کو بیان کریں کہ شاید یہ غور وفکر کرنے لگیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اگر ہم چاہتے تو اسے اُن آیتوں کے ذریعہ سے بلندی عطا کرتے، مگر وہ تو زمین ہی کی طرف جھک کر رہ گیا اور اپنی خواہش نفس ہی کے پیچھے پڑا رہا، لہٰذا اس کی حالت کتے کی سی ہو گئی کہ تم اس پر حملہ کرو تب بھی زبان لٹکائے رہے اور اسے چھوڑ دو تب بھی زبان لٹکائے رہے یہی مثال ہے اُن لوگوں کی جو ہماری آیات کو جھٹلاتے ہیں تم یہ حکایات اِن کو سناتے رہو، شاید کہ یہ کچھ غور و فکر کریں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ہم چاہتے تو آیتوں کے سبب اسے اٹھالیتے مگر وہ تو زمین پکڑ گیا اور اپنی خواہش کا تابع ہوا تو اس کا حال کتے کی طرح ہے تو اس پر حملہ کرے تو زبان نکالے اور چھوڑ دے تو زبان نکالے یہ حال ہے ان کا جنہوں نے ہماری آیتیں جھٹلائیں تو تم نصیحت سناؤ کہ کہیں وہ دھیان کریں، - Ahmed Raza

اور اگر ہم چاہتے تو ان نشانیوں کی وجہ سے اس کا مرتبہ بلند کرتے۔ مگر وہ تو زمین (پستی) کی طرف جھک گیا۔ اور اپنی خواہشِ نفس کا پیرو ہوگیا۔ تو اب اس کی مثال کتے کی سی ہوگئی کہ اگر تم اس پر حملہ کرو تب بھی ہانپتا ہے اور یونہی چھوڑ دو تب بھی ایسا کرتا ہے۔ (زبان لٹکائے ہانپتا ہے) یہ مثال ان لوگوں کی ہے جنہوں نے ہماری نشانیوں کو جھٹلایا (اے رسول) تم یہ قصص و حکایات سناتے رہو شاید وہ غور و فکر کریں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
