وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةًۭ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

They say: Why hath no portent been sent down upon him from his Lord? Say: Lo! Allah is Able to send down a portent. But most of them know not. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

They say, [Why has not a sign been sent down to him from his Lord?] Say, [Allah is indeed able to send down a sign,] but most of them do not know. - Qarai, Ali Quli

They say, [Why have not some miracles been given to him, (Muhammad), from his Lord.] Tell them, (Muhammad), [God certainly has the Power to show such miracles but many of them are ignorant.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ اِس نبی پر اس کے رب کی طرف سے کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں اتری؟ کہو، اللہ نشانی اتارنے کی پوری قدرت رکھتا ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ نادانی میں مبتلا ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور بولے ان پر کوئی نشانی کیوں نہ اتری ان کے رب کی طرف سے تم فرماؤ کہ اللہ قادر ہے کہ کوئی نشانی اتارے لیکن ان میں بہت نرے (بالکل) جاہل ہیں - Ahmed Raza

اور وہ کفار کہتے ہیں کہ ان پر ان کے پروردگار کی طرف سے کوئی معجزہ کیوں نازل نہیں ہوتا؟ کہہ دیجیے کہ بے شک اللہ تو کوئی بھی معجزہ نازل کرنے پر قادر ہے لیکن ان میں سے اکثر جانتے نہیں ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

There is not an animal in the earth, nor a flying creature flying on two wings, but they are peoples like unto you. We have neglected nothing in the Book (of Our decrees). Then unto their Lord they will be gathered. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

There is no animal on land, nor a bird that flies with its wings, but they are communities like yourselves. We have not omitted anything from the Book. Then they will be mustered toward their Lord. - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَٱلَّذِينَ
And the ones who
كَذَّبُوا۟
continously lie
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
regarding Our signs,
صُمٌّۭ
delibrately
وَبُكْمٌۭ
and ignorantly, are
فِى
in
ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ
the darknesses;
ۗ
مَن
whoever for
يَشَإِ
wills
ٱللَّهُ
the One
يُضْلِلْهُ
is misguided,
وَمَن
and whoever for
يَشَأْ
wills
يَجْعَلْهُ
He puts
عَلَىٰ
upon
صِرَٰطٍۢ
a path of
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ
stability.
٦
٣٩
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا صُمٌّۭ وَبُكْمٌۭ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ ۗ مَن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ And the ones who continously lie regarding Our signs, delibrately and ignorantly, are in the darknesses; whoever for wills the One is misguided, and whoever for wills He puts upon a path of stability.
⦿
Those who deny Our revelations are deaf and dumb in darkness. Whom Allah will sendeth astray, and whom He will He placeth on a straight path. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Those who deny Our signs are deaf and dumb, in a manifold darkness. Allah leads astray whomever He wishes, and whomever He wishes He puts him on a straight path. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Those who disbelieve Our revelations are, in fact, deaf and dumb. They wander in darkness. God leads astray or guides to the right path whomever He wants. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And they who reject Our communications are deaf and dumb, in utter darkness; whom Allah pleases He causes to err and whom He pleases He puts on the right way. - Shakir, Habib

Say: Can ye see yourselves, if the punishment of Allah come upon you or the Hour come upon you, (calling upon other than Allah)? Do ye then call (for help) to any other than Allah? (Answer that) if ye are truthful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [Tell me, should Allah]s punishment overtake you, or should the Hour overtake you, will you supplicate anyone other than Allah, should you be truthful? - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), say to them, [Should God afflict you with torment, or should the Day of Judgment arrive, if what you claim is true, could you then seek help from any one other than God? - Sarwar, Muhammad

Say: Tell me if the chastisement of Allah should overtake you or the hour should come upon you, will you call (on others) besides Allah, if you are truthful? - Shakir, Habib

ان سے کہو، ذرا غور کر کے بتاؤ، اگر کبھی تم پر اللہ کی طرف سے کوئی بڑی مصیبت آ جاتی ہے یا آخری گھڑی آ پہنچتی ہے تو کیا اس وقت تم اللہ کے سوا کسی اور کو پکارتے ہو؟ بولو اگر تم سچے ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Nay, but unto Him ye call, and He removeth that because of which ye call unto Him, if He will, and ye forget whatever partners ye ascribed unto Him. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

No, Him you will supplicate, and He will remove that for which you supplicated Him, if He wishes, and you will forget what you ascribe [to Him] as [His] partners.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

We have sent already unto peoples that were before thee, and We visited them with tribulation and adversity, in order that they might grow humble. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We have certainly sent [apostles] to nations before you, then We seized them with stress and distress so that they might entreat [Us]. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We had sent (Our guidance) to the nations who lived before you and afflicted them with distress and adversity so that they might submit themselves (to God). - Sarwar, Muhammad

And certainly We sent (apostles) to nations before you then We seized them with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. - Shakir, Habib

اور بیشک ہم نے تم سے پہلی اُمتوں کی طرف رسول بھیجے تو انہیں سختی اور تکلیف سے پکڑا کہ وہ کسی طرح گڑگڑائیں - Ahmed Raza

بلکہ اے رسول(ص) بے شک ہم نے آپ سے پہلے بہت سی امتوں کی طرف پیغمبر بھیجے اور ان کی نافرمانی پر پہلے تو ہم نے ان کو تنگدستی اور تکلیف میں مبتلا کیا۔ تاکہ تضرع و زاری کریں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

If only, when Our disaster came on them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hardened and the devil made all that they used to do seem fair unto them! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Why did they not entreat when Our punishment overtook them! But their hearts had hardened, and Satan had made what they had been doing seem decorous to them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Then, when they forgot that whereof they had been reminded, We opened unto them the gates of all things till, even as they were rejoicing in that which they were given, We seized them unawares, and lo! they were dumbfounded. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

پھر جب انہوں نے اس نصیحت کو، جو انہیں کی گئی تھی، بھلا دیا تو ہم نے ہر طرح کی خوشحالیوں کے دروازے ان کے لیے کھول دیے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ اُن بخششوں میں جو انہیں عطا کی گئی تھیں خوب مگن ہوگئے تو اچانک ہم نے انہیں پکڑ لیا اور اب حال یہ تھا کہ وہ ہر خیر سے مایوس تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر جب انہوں نے بھلا دیا جو نصیحتیں ان کو کی گئیں تھیں ہم نے ان پر ہر چیز کے دروازے کھول دیے یہاں تک کہ جب خوش ہوئے اس پر جو انہیں ملا تو ہم نے اچانک انہیں پکڑلیا اب وہ آس ٹوٹے رہ گئے، - Ahmed Raza

اور جب انہوں نے اس نصیحت کو بھلا دیا جو انہیں کی گئی تھی تو ہم نے (ابتلا و امتحان کے طور پر) ان کے لئے ہر چیز کے دروازے کھول دیئے۔ یہاں تک کہ وہ عطا کردہ چیزوں (نعمتوں) سے خوب خوش ہوگئے اور اترانے لگے تو ہم نے اچانک انہیں پکڑ لیا۔ تو وہ ایک دم مایوس ہوگئے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

Say: Have ye imagined, if Allah should take away your hearing and your sight and seal your hearts, Who is the Allah Who could restore it to you save Allah? See how We display the revelations unto them! Yet still they turn away. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [Tell me, should Allah take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal on your hearts, which god other than Allah can bring it [back] to you?] Look, how We paraphrase the signs variously; nevertheless they turn away. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اے محمدؐ! ان سے کہو، کبھی تم نے یہ بھی سوچا کہ اگر اللہ تمہاری بینائی اور سماعت تم سے چھین لے اور تمہارے دلوں پر مہر کر دے تو اللہ کے سوا اور کون سا خدا ہے جو یہ قوتیں تمہیں واپس دلاسکتا ہو؟ دیکھو، کس طرح ہم بار بار اپنی نشانیاں ان کے سامنے پیش کرتے ہیں اور پھر یہ کس طرح ان سے نظر چرا جاتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تم فرماؤ بھلا بتاؤ تو اگر اللہ تمہارے کان آنکھ لے لے اور تمہارے دلوں پر مہر کردے تو اللہ سوا کون خدا ہے کہ تمہیں یہ چیزیں لادے دیکھو ہم کس کس رنگ سے آیتیں بیان کرتے ہیں پھر وہ منہ پھیر لیتے ہیں، - Ahmed Raza

اے رسول کہیے غور کرکے بتاؤ کہ اگر اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے کان اور تمہاری آنکھیں لے لے (یعنی قوت شنوائی اور بینائی چھین لے) اور تمہارے دلوں پر مہر لگا دے تو اللہ کے سوا اور کون خدا ہے جو تمہیں یہ چیزیں لا دے؟ دیکھئے ہم کس طرح الٹ پلٹ کر اپنی توحید کی نشانیاں واضح کرتے ہیں پھر بھی وہ روگردانی کرتے ہیں۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
