To hunt and to eat the fish of the sea is made lawful for you, a provision for you and for seafarers; but to hunt on land is forbidden you so long as ye are on the pilgrimage. Be mindful of your duty to Allah, unto Whom ye will be gathered. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah hath appointed the Ka'bah, the Sacred House, a standard for mankind, and the Sacred Month and the offerings and the garlands. merciful.
Know that the One is severe of the chase, and that the One is forgiving, merciful.

Not upon the messenger is except the broadcast; and the One knows what you reveal and what you hide.

amazes you
كَثْرَةُ
plenty
ٱلْخَبِيثِ
the putrid;
ۚ
فَٱتَّقُوا۟
then be aware of
ٱللَّهَ
the One,
يَٰٓأُو۟لِى
o you of
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ
the intellectual people,
لَعَلَّكُمْ
that perhaps you
تُفْلِحُونَ
be successful.]

قُل لَّا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْخَبِيثُ وَٱلطَّيِّبُ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ ٱلْخَبِيثِ ۚ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَٰٓأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ Say, [Not are equal the putrid and the pure, even if amazes you plenty the putrid; then be aware of the One, o you of the intellectual people, that perhaps you be successful.]

Say: The evil and the good are not alike even though the plenty of the evil attract thee. So be mindful of your duty to Allah, O men of understanding, that ye may succeed. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Say, [The good and the bad are not equal, though the abundance of the bad should amaze you.] So be wary of Allah, O you who possess intellect, so that you may be felicitous! - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), say to them, [The pure and filthy are not the same even though the abundance of filth may attract you. Men of reason, have fear of God so that you may have eternal happiness.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

اے پیغمبرؐ! اِن سے کہہ دو کہ پاک اور ناپاک بہر حال یکساں نہیں ہیں خواہ ناپاک کی بہتا ت تمہیں کتنا ہی فریفتہ کرنے والی ہو، پس اے لوگو جو عقل رکھتے ہو! اللہ کی نافرمانی سے بچتے رہو، امید ہے کہ تمہیں فلاح نصیب ہوگی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

O ye who believe! Ask not of things which, if they were made unto you, would trouble you; but if ye ask of them when the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made known unto you. Allah pardoneth this, for Allah is Forgiving, Clement. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah hath not appointed anything in the nature of a Bahirah or a Sa'ibah or a Wasilah or a Hami, but those who disbelieve invent a lie against Allah. Most of them have no sense. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Allah has not prescribed any such thing as Bahirah, Sa]ibah, Waseelah, or Haam; but those who are faithless fabricate lies against Allah, and most of them do not exercise their reason. - Qarai, Ali Quli

ٱلرَّسُولِ
the messenger],
قَالُوا۟
they said,
حَسْبُنَا
[We pursue
مَا
what
وَجَدْنَا
we found
عَلَيْهِ
upon it
ءَابَآءَنَآ
our elders.]
ۚ
أَوَلَوْ
Even if
كَانَ
had been
ءَابَآؤُهُمْ
their forefathers
لَا
not
يَعْلَمُونَ
of knowing
شَيْـًۭٔا
a thing,
وَلَا
and not
يَهْتَدُونَ
they were guided?
٥
١٠٤
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ ءَابَآءَنَآ ۚ أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ And whenever was said to them, [Come up here towards what had descended the One, and towards the messenger], they said, [We pursue what we found upon it our elders.] Even if had been their forefathers not of knowing a thing, and not they were guided?

And when it is said unto them: Come unto that which Allah hath revealed and unto the messenger, they say: Enough for us is that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though their fathers had no knowledge whatsoever, and no guidance? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When they are told, [Come to what Allah has sent down and [come] to the Apostle,] they say, [Sufficient for us is what we have found our fathers following.] What, even if their fathers did not know anything and were not guided?! - Qarai, Ali Quli

When they are told to refer to the guidance of God and to the Messenger, they say, [The tradition of our fathers is sufficient for our guidance,] even though, in fact, their fathers had neither knowledge nor proper guidance. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when it is said to them, Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Apostle, they say: That on which we found our fathers is sufficient for us. What! even though their fathers knew nothing and did not follow the right way. - Shakir, Habib

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ آؤ اُس قانون کی طرف جو اللہ نے نازل کیا ہے اور آؤ پیغمبرؐ کی طرف تو وہ جواب دیتے ہیں کہ ہمارے لیے تو بس وہی طریقہ کافی ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا ہے کیا یہ باپ دادا ہی کی تقلید کیے چلے جائیں گے خواہ وہ کچھ نہ جانتے ہوں اور صحیح راستہ کی انہیں خبر ہی نہ ہو؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ان سے کہا جائے آؤ اس طرف جو اللہ نے اُتارا اور رسول کی طرف کہیں ہمیں وہ بہت ہے جس پر ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو پایا، کیا اگرچہ ان کے باپ دادا نہ کچھ جانیں نہ راہ پر ہوں - Ahmed Raza

can harm you
مَّن

ضَلَّ
has astrayed
إِذَا
when
ٱهْتَدَيْتُمْ
you are guided;
ۚ
إِلَى
towards
ٱللَّهِ
the One
مَرْجِعُكُمْ
you will return
جَمِيعًۭا
collectively
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم
then He will inform you all
بِمَا
with what
كُنتُمْ
you were
تَعْمَلُونَ
doing.

١٠٥
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ لَا يَضُرُّكُم مَّن ضَلَّ إِذَا ٱهْتَدَيْتُمْ ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًۭا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ O you of the ones of trust! Upon yourself is your ownself (you are responsible for yourself); not can harm you who has astrayed when you are guided; towards the One you will return collectively then He will inform you all with what you were doing.

O ye who believe! Ye have charge of your own souls. He who erreth cannot injure you if ye are rightly guided. Unto Allah ye will all return; and then He will inform you of what ye used to do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O you who have faith! Take care of your own souls. He who strays cannot hurt you if you are guided. To Allah will be the return of you all, whereat He will inform you concerning what you used to do. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, save your own souls, for if you have the right guidance, no one who strays can harm you. You will all return to God who will tell you about what you have done. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O you who believe! take care of your souls; he who errs cannot hurt you when you are on the right way; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will inform you of what you did. - Shakir, Habib

O ye who believe! Let there be witnesses between you when death draweth nigh unto one of you, at the time of bequest - two witnesses, just men from among you, or two others from another tribe, in case ye are campaigning in the land and the calamity of death befall you. Ye shall empanel them both after the prayer, and, if ye doubt, they shall be made to swear by Allah (saying): We will not take a bribe, even though it were (on behalf of) a near kinsman nor will we hide the testimony of Allah, for then indeed we should be of the sinful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The witness between you, when death approaches any of you, while making a bequest, shall be two fair men from among yourselves—or two from among others, if you are journeying in the land and the affliction of death visits you. You shall detain the two of them after the prayer, and, if you have any doubt, they shall vow by Allah, [We will not sell it for any gain, even if it were a relative, nor will we conceal the testimony of Allah, for then we would indeed be among the sinners.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Believers, when death approaches any one of you, let two just men from your own people (Muslims) or any two other men (People of the Book) if death befalls you on a journey, bear witness to the bequest. If you have any doubts as to their honesty, detain them and let them take an oath after the prayer, each one of them saying, [I swear by God that my testimony is true. I am not selling the Truth for a paltry price even though the beneficiary would be one of my relatives. ایمان والو جب تم میں سے کسی کی موت سامنے آجائے تو گواہی کا خیال رکھنا کہ وصیت کے وقت دو عادل گواہ تم میں سے ہوں یا پھر تمہارے غیر میں سے ہوں اگر تم سفر کی حالت میں ہو اور وہیں موت کی مصیبت نازل ہوجائے ان دونوں کو نماز کے بعد روک کر رکھو پھر اگر تمہیں شک ہو تو یہ خدا کی قسم کھائیں کہ ہم اس گواہی سے کسی طرح کا فائدہ نہیں چاہتے ہیں چاہے قرابتدار ہی کا معاملہ کیوں نہ ہو اور نہ خدائی شہادت کو چھپاتے ہیں کہ اس طرح ہم یقینا گناہگاروں میں شمار ہوجائیں گے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، جب تم میں سے کسی کی موت کا وقت آ جائے اور وہ وصیت کر رہا ہو تو اس کے لیے شہادت کا نصاب یہ ہے کہ تمہاری جماعت میں سے دو صاحب عدل آدمی گواہ بنائے جائیں، یا اگر تم سفر کی حالت میں ہو اور وہاں موت کی مصیبت پیش آ جائے تو غیر مسلموں ہی میں سے دو گواہ لے لیے جائں پھر اگر کوئی شک پڑ جائے تو نماز کے بعد دونوں گواہوں کو (مسجد میں) روک لیا جائے اور وہ خدا کی قسم کھا کر کہیں کہ ——ہم کسی ذاتی فائدے کے عوض شہادت بیچنے والے نہیں ہیں، اور خواہ کوئی ہمارا رشتہ دار ہی کیوں نہ ہو (ہم اس کی رعایت کرنے والے نہیں) اور نہ خدا واسطے کی گواہی کو ہم چھپانے والے ہیں، اگر ہم نے یسا کیا تو گناہ گاروں میں شمار ہوں گے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے ایمان والوں تمہاری آپس کی گواہی جب تم میں کسی کو موت آئے وصیت کرتے وقت تم میں کے دو معتبر شخص ہیں یا غیروں میں کے دو جب تم ملک میں سفر کو جاؤ پھر تمہیں موت کا حادثہ پہنچے، ان دونوں کو نماز کے بعد روکو وہ اللہ کی قسم کھائیں اگر تمہیں کچھ شک پڑے ہم حلف کے بدلے کچھ مال نہ خریدیں گے اگرچہ قریب کا رشتہ دار ہو اور اللہ کی گواہی نہ چھپائیں گے ایسا کریں تو ہم ضرور گنہگاروں میں ہیں، - Ahmed Raza

اے ایمان والو! جب تم میں سے کسی کی موت کا وقت آجائے جبکہ وہ وصیت کر رہا ہو تو تمہارے درمیان گواہی کا ضابطہ یہ ہے کہ تم مسلمانوں میں سے دو عادل گواہ ہونے چاہئیں۔ ہاں البتہ اگر تم سفر میں ہو اور تم پر موت کی مصیبت آپڑے (اور مسلمان گواہ نہ مل سکیں) تو پھر دو گواہ غیروں میں سے ہی لے لئے جائیں۔ اور اگر تمہیں شک پڑ جائے تو ان دونوں کو نماز کے بعد روک رکھو اور وہ دونوں ان الفاظ کے ساتھ اللہ کی قَسم کھائیں کہ ہم اس قَسم کے عوض کوئی قیمت (فائدہ) حاصل نہیں کر رہے ہیں۔ اگرچہ ہمارا رشتہ دار ہی کیوں نہ ہو اور ہم اللہ واسطے کی گواہی نہیں چھپائیں گے ورنہ یقینا ہم گنہگاروں میں سے ہوں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
