وَلَقَدْ

٣٤

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبْلُ بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِى شَكٍّۢ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رَسُولًۭا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌۭ مُّرْتَابٌ

⦿

And verily Joseph brought you of old clear proofs, yet ye ceased not to be in doubt concerning what he brought you till, when he died, ye said: Allah will not send any messenger after him. Thus Allah deceiveth him who is a prodigal, a doubter.

Certainly Joseph brought you manifest proofs earlier, but you continued to remain in doubt concerning what he had brought you. When he died, you said, [[Allah will never send any apostle after him.]] That is how Allah leads astray those who are unrestrained and skeptical.

Joseph came to you before with illustrious evidence but you still have doubts about what he brought. When he passed away, you said, [God will never send any Messenger after him.] Thus does God causes to go astray the skeptical transgressing people,

And certainly Yusuf came to you before with clear arguments, but you ever remained in doubt as to what he brought; until when he died, you said: Allah will never raise an apostle after him. Thus does Allah cause him to err who is extravagant, a doubter

Joseph came to you before with clear signs, but you never ceased to doubt the message he brought you. When he died, you said, [God will not send another messenger.]] In this way God leaves the transgressors and doubters to go astray --

اور اس سے پہلے یوسف علیھ السّلام بھی تمہارے پاس آئے تھے تو بھی تم ان کے پیغام کے بارے میں شک ہی میں مبتلا رہے یہاں تک کہ جب وہ دنیا سے چلے گئے تو تم نے یہ کہنا شروع کردیا کہ خدا اس کے بعد کوئی رسول نہیں بھیجے گا - اسی طرح خدا زیادتی کرنے والے اور شکی مزاج انسانوں کو ان کی گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے

اس سے پہلے یوسفؑ تمہارے پاس بینات لے کر آئے تھے مگر تم اُن کی لائی ہوئی تعلیم کی طرف سے شک ہی میں پڑے رہے پھر جب اُن کا انتقال ہو گیا تو تم نے کہا اب اُن کے بعد اللہ کوئی رسول ہرگز نہ بھیجے گا—— اِسی طرح اللہ اُن سب لوگوں کو گمراہی میں ڈال دیتا ہے جو حد سے گزرنے والے اور شکی ہوتے ہیں

اور بیشک اس سے پہلے تمہارے پاس یوسف روشن نشانیاں لے کر آئے تو تم ان کے لائے ہوئے سے شک ہی میں رہے، یہاں تک کہ جب انہوں نے انتقال فرمایا تم بولے ہرگز اب اللہ کوئی رسول نہ بھیجے گا اللہ یونہی گمراہ کرتا ہے اسے جو حد سے بڑھنے والا شک لانے والا ہے

اور (اے میری قوم) اس سے پہلے تمہارے پاس یوسف(ع) کھلی ہوئی دلیلیں (معجزات) لے کر آئے مگر تم برابر شک ہی میں پڑے رہے یہاں تک کہ جب وہ وفات پا گئے تو تم نے کہا (اب) اللہ ان کے بعد ہرگز کوئی رسول نہیں بھیجے گا۔ اسی طرح اللہ اس شخص کو گمراہی میں چھوڑتا ہے جو حد سے بڑھنے والا (اور) شک کرنے والا ہوتا ہے۔

ءَامَنُوا۟

كَذَٰلِكَ

يَطْبَعُ

ٱللَّهُ

مُتَكَبِّرٍۢ

جَبَّارٍۢ

٣٥

ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ ۖ كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍۢ جَبَّارٍۢ

⦿

Those who wrangle concerning the revelations of Allah without any warrant that hath come unto them, it is greatly hateful in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who believe. Thus doth Allah print on every arrogant, disdainful heart.

Those who dispute the signs of Allah without any authority that may have come to them—[that is] greatly outrageous to Allah and to those who have faith. That is how Allah seals the heart of every arrogant tyrant.]

those who dispute the revelations of God without having received clear authority. This act greatly angers God and the believers. Thus does God seal the hearts of every arrogant oppressor.]

Those who dispute concerning the communications of Allah without any authority that He has given them; greatly hated is it by Allah and by-those who believe. Thus does Allah set a seal over the heart of every proud, haughty one.

جو لوگ کہ آیات الہٰی میں بحث کرتے ہیں بغیر اس کے کہ ان کے پاس خدا کی طرف سے کوئی دلیل آئے وہ اللہ اور صاحبان هایمان کے نزدیک سخت نفرت کے حقدار ہیں اور اللہ اسی طرح ہر مغرور اور سرکش انسان کے دل پر لَہر لگادیتا ہے

اور اللہ کی آیات میں جھگڑے کرتے ہیں بغیر اس کے کہ ان کے پاس کوئی سند یا دلیل آئی ہو یہ رویہ اللہ اور ایمان لانے والوں کے نزدیک سخت مبغوض ہے اِسی طرح اللہ ہر متکر و جبار کے دل پر ٹھپہ لگا دیتا ہے

⦿

وہ جو اللہ کی آیتوں میں جھگڑا کرتے ہیں بغیر کسی سند کے، کہ انہیں ملی ہو، کس قدر سخت بیزاری کی بات ہے اللہ کے نزدیک اور ایمان لانے والوں کے نزدیک، اللہ یوں ہی مہر کردیتا ہے متکبر سرکش کے سارے دل پر

جو لوگ آیاتِ الٰہی میں جھگڑے کرتے ہیں بغیر کسی دلیل کے جو ان کے پاس آئی ہو۔ یہ روش اللہ اور اہلِ ایمان کے نزدیک سخت مبغوض (اور ناپسندیدہ) ہے اللہ اسی طرح ہر منکر و سرکش کے دل پر مہر لگا دیتا ہے۔

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَٰهَٰمَٰنُ ٱبْنِ لِى صَرْحًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ أَبْلُغُ ٱلْأَسْبَٰبَ

And Pharaoh said: O Haman! Build for me a tower that haply I may reach the roads,

Pharaoh said, [O Haman! Build me a tower so that I may reach the routes

Pharaoh said, [Haman, build a tower of baked bricks for me so that I shall have access.

And Firon said: O Haman! build for me a tower that I may attain the means of access,

اور فرعون نے کہا کہ ہامان میرے لئے ایک قلعہ تیار کر کہ میں اس کے اسباب تک پہنچ جاؤں

فرعون نے کہا ——اے ہامان، میرے لیے ایک بلند عمارت بنا تاکہ میں راستوں تک پہنچ سکوں

اور فرعون بولا اے ہامان! میرے لیے اونچا محل بنا شاید میں پہنچ جاؤں راستوں تک،

٣٧

أَسْبَٰبَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِبًۭا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ ۚ وَمَا كَيْدُ فِرْعَوْنَ إِلَّا فِى تَبَابٍۢ

⦿

The roads of the heavens, and may look upon the god of Moses, though verily I think him a liar. Thus was the evil that he did made fairseeming unto Pharaoh, and he was debarred from the (right) way. The plot of Pharaoh ended but in ruin.

—the routes of the heavens—and take a look at the God of Moses, and indeed I consider him a liar.] The evil of his conduct was thus presented as decorous to Pharaoh, and he was kept from the way [of Allah]. Pharaoh]s stratagems only led him into ruin.

to the heavens and be able to climb up to the Lord of Moses. I think that Moses is lying.] Thus, Pharaoh's evil deeds seemed attractive to him and prevented him from the right path. The Pharaoh's plots only led him to his own destructor.

The means of access to the heavens, then reach the god of Musa, and I surely think him to be a liar. And thus the evil of his deed was made fairseeming to Firon, and he was turned away from the way; and the struggle of Firon was not (to end) in aught but destruction.

to the heavens, so that I may look upon the God of Moses: I am convinced that he is a liar!] That is how Pharaoh's evil actions were made to look fair in the eyes of Pharoah, and he was turned away from the path [of truth]. Pharaoh's scheming led to nothing but ruin.

جوکہ آسمان کے راستے ہیں اور اس طرح موسٰی علیھ السّلامکے خدا کو دیکھ لوں اور میرا تو خیال یہ ہے کہ موسٰی علیھ السّلام جھوٹے ہیں اور کوئی خدا نہیں ہے ...... اور اسی طرح فرعون کے لئے اس کی بدعملی کو آراستہ کردیا گیا اور اسے راستہ سے روک دیا گیا اور فرعون کی چالوں کا انجام سوائے ہلاکت اور تباہی کے کچھ نہیں ہے

آسمانوں کے راستوں تک، اور موسیٰؑ کے خدا کو جھانک کر دیکھوں مجھے تو یہ موسیٰؑ جھوٹا ہی معلوم ہوتا ہے—— اس طرح فرعون کے لیے اس کی بد عملی خوشنما بنا دی گئی اور وہ راہ راست سے روک دیا گیا فرعون کی ساری چال بازی (اُس کی اپنی) تباہی کے راستہ ہی میں صرف ہوئی

کا ہے کے راستے آسمان کے تو موسیٰ کے خدا کو جھانک کر دیکھوں اور بیشک میرے گمان میں تو وہ جھوٹا ہے اور یونہی فرعون کی نگاہ میں اس کا برا کام بھلا کر دکھا گیا اور وہ راستے میں روکا گیا، اور فرعون کا داؤ ہلاک ہونے ہی کو تھا،

یعنی آسمانوں کے راستوں تک (اور پھر وہاں سے) موسیٰ(ع) کے خدا کو جھانک کر دیکھوں اور میں تو اسے جھوٹا سمجھتا ہوں اور اسی طرح فرعون کیلئے اس کا بدعمل خوشنما بنا دیا گیا اور وہ (سیدھے) راستہ سے روک دیا گیا اور فرعون کی ہر تدبیر (چالبازی) غارت ہی گئی (اور اس کی تباہی پر منتج ہوئی)۔

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ

And he who believed said: O my people! Follow me. I will show you the way of right conduct.

يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَتَٰعٌۭ وَإِنَّ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ هِىَ دَارُ ٱلْقَرَارِ

O my people! Lo! this life of the world is but a passing comfort, and lo! the Hereafter, that is the enduring home.

O my people! This life of the world is only a [passing] enjoyment, and indeed the Hereafter is the abiding home.

My people, this worldly life is only the means (to an end), but the life hereafter will be the everlasting abode.

مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةًۭ فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ

Whoso doeth an ill-deed, he will be repaid the like thereof, while whoso doeth right, whether male or female, and is a believer, (all) such will enter the Garden, where they will be nourished without stint.

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.
