Lo! (on that day) those who disbelieve are informed by proclamation: Verily Allah's abhorrence is more terrible than your abhorrence one of another, when ye were called unto the faith but did refuse. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

It will be proclaimed to the faithless: [Surely, Allah]s outrage [towards you] is greater than your outrage towards yourselves, as you were invited to faith, but you disbelieved.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

The disbelievers will be told, [God's hatred towards you is much greater than your hatred of your own selves. You were called to the faith but you disbelieved]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ ۖ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚ فَٱلْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلْعَلِىِّ ٱلْكَبِيرِ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

(It is said unto them): This is (your plight) because, when Allah only was invoked, ye disbelieved, but when some partner was ascribed to Him ye were believing. But the command belongeth only to Allah, the Sublime, the Majestic. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[They will be told,] [This [plight of yours] is because, when Allah was invoked alone, you would disbelieve, but if partners were ascribed to Him you would believe. So the judgment belongs to Allah, the All-exalted, the All-great.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

They will be answered, [Your suffering is only because you disbelieved when One God was mentioned. When other things were considered equal to Him, you believed in them. Judgment belongs to God, the Most High, the Most Great. - Sarwar, Muhammad

(جواب ملے گا) ——یہ حالت جس میں تم مبتلا ہو، اِس وجہ سے ہے کہ جب اکیلے اللہ کی طرف بلایا جاتا تھا تو تم ماننے سے انکار کر دیتے تھے اور جب اُس کے ساتھ دوسروں کو ملایا جاتا تو تم مان لیتے تھے اب فیصلہ اللہ بزرگ و برتر کے ہاتھ ہے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

sustenance;

وَمَا
and not
يَتَذَكَّرُ
remembers
إِلَّا
except
مَن
who is
يُنِيبُ
His assistant.

١٣
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقًۭا ۚ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ He is the Entity who shows to you His signs and sends down for you from the sky sustenance; and not remembers except who is His assistant.

He it is Who showeth you His portents, and sendeth down for you provision from the sky. None payeth heed save him who turneth (unto Him) repentant. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Thus call upon
ٱللَّهَ

مُخْلِصِينَ
being loyal

to Him for

the governance system
وَلَوْ
even if
كَرِهَ
it repulses
ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
the ones who are in denial.
Thus call upon the One being loyal to Him for the governance system even if it repulses the ones who are in denial.
⦿
Therefor (O believers) pray unto Allah, making religion pure for Him (only), however much the disbelievers be averse - - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So supplicate Allah, putting exclusive faith in Him, though the faithless should be averse. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Worship God and be devoted to His religion even though the disbelievers dislike this. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Therefore call upon Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, though the unbelievers are averse: - Shakir, Habib

لِيُنذِرَ
to give warning of
يَوْمَ
day of
ٱلتَّلَاقِ
the convergence.

١٥
رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ يُلْقِى ٱلرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ Raised are the ranks of Possessor of the throne, joins the spirit from His command upon whom He desires from His slaves to give warning of day of the convergence.

The Exalter of Ranks, the Lord of the Throne. He causeth the Spirit of His command upon whom He will of His slaves, that He may warn of the Day of Meeting, - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Raiser of ranks, Lord of the Throne, He casts the Spirit of His command upon whomever of His servants that He wishes, that he may warn [people] of the Day of Encounter. - Qarai, Ali Quli

God is the promoter of His servants and the owner of the Throne. He sends His spirit by His command to whichever of His servants He wants to warn them of the Day of Judgment. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Possessor of the highest rank, Lord of power: He makes the inspiration to light by His command upon whom He pleases of His servants, that he may warn (men) of the day of meeting. - Shakir, Habib

A day
هُم
they
بَٰرِزُونَ
will be coming out;
ۖ
لَا
not
يَخْفَىٰ
hides
عَلَى
upon
ٱللَّهِ
the One
مِنْهُمْ
from them
شَىْءٌۭ
any thing;
ۚ
لِّمَنِ
for Whom is
ٱلْمُلْكُ
the ownership of
ٱلْيَوْمَ
the day,
ۖ
لِلَّهِ
for the One,
ٱلْوَٰحِدِ
the Singular
ٱلْقَهَّارِ
Subjugator.
٤٠
١٦
يَوْمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَ ۖ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَىْءٌۭ ۚ لِّمَنِ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۖ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ A day they will be coming out; not hides upon the One from them any thing; for Whom is the ownership of the day, for the One, the Singular Subjugator.

The day when they come forth, nothing of them being hidden from Allah. Whose is the Sovereignty this day? It is Allah's, the One, the Almighty. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

The day when they will emerge [from their graves], nothing about them will be hidden from Allah. [To whom does the sovereignty belong today?] [To Allah, the One, the All-paramount!] - Qarai, Ali Quli

satisfactory payment will be made to

لَا
no
ظُلْمَ
injustice will be done on
ٱلْيَوْمَ
that day;
ۚ
إِنَّ
surely
ٱللَّهَ
the One is
سَرِيعُ
swift of
ٱلْحِسَابِ
the final calculation.

١٧
ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ ۚ لَا ظُلْمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ The day satisfactory payment will be made to every psyche with what it earned; no injustice will be done on that day; surely the One is swift of the final calculation.

This day is each soul requited that which it hath earned; no wrong (is done) this day. Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Warn them (O Muhammad) of the Day of the approaching (doom), when the hearts will be choking the throats, (when) there will be no friend for the wrong-doers, nor any intercessor who will be heard. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Warn them of the Approaching Day, when the hearts will be at the throats, choking with suppressed agony, [and] the wrongdoers will have no sympathizer, nor any intercessor who might be heard. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(Muhammad), warn them of the approaching day when because of hardship and frustration their hearts will almost reach up to their throats. The unjust will have no friends nor any intercessor who will be heard. - Sarwar, Muhammad

اے نبیؐ، ڈرا دو اِن لوگوں کو اُس دن سے جو قریب آ لگا ہے جب کلیجے منہ کو آ رہے ہوں گے اور لوگ چپ چاپ غم کے گھونٹ پیے کھڑے ہونگے ظالموں کا نہ کوئی مشفق دوست ہو گا اور نہ کوئی شفیع جس کی بات مانی جائے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور انہیں ڈراؤ اس نزدیک آنے والی آفت کے دن سے جب دل گلوں کے پاس آجائیں گے غم میں بھرے، اور ظالموں کا نہ کوئی دوست نہ کوئی سفارشی جس کا کہا مانا جائے - Ahmed Raza
