وَرَفَعْنَا
And We raised
فَوْقَهُمُ
above them
ٱلطُّورَ
the endeavour
بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ
through their covenant
وَقُلْنَا
and We said
لَهُمُ
to them,
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
[Enter
ٱلْبَابَ
the doors
سُجَّدًۭا
as executioners of command.]
وَقُلْنَا
and We said
لَهُمْ
to them,
لَا
[Do not
تَعْدُوا۟
transgress
فِى
in
ٱلسَّبْتِ
the laziness.]
وَأَخَذْنَا
and We took
مِنْهُم
from them
مِّيثَٰقًا
a ratification
غَلِيظًۭا
that was strong.
٤
١٥٤
وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ ٱلطُّورَ بِمِيثَٰقِهِمْ وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْبَابَ سُجَّدًۭا وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا۟ فِى ٱلسَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًۭا And We raised above them the endeavour through their covenant and We said to them, [Enter the doors as executioners of command.] and We said to them, [Do not transgress in the laziness.] and We took from them a ratification that was strong.

And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And We raised the Mount above them for the sake of their covenant, and We said to them, [Enter the gate prostrating] and We said to them, [Do not violate the Sabbath,] and We took from them a solemn covenant. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We raised Mount (Sinai) above them because of Our solemn promise to them. Also, We told them to prostrate themselves when entering the gate (of the holy house) and not to commit transgression on the Sabbath. We made a solemn covenant with them. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And We lifted the mountain (Sainai) over them at (the taking of the covenant) and We said to them: Enter the door making obeisance; and We said to them: Do not exceed the limits of the Sabbath, and We made with them a firm covenant. - Shakir, Habib

And We raised above them the Mount, while making a covenant with them, and We said to them. [Enter the gate humbly,] and We also commanded them, [Transgress not in the matter of the Sabbath.] We took from them a firm covenant. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور ہم نے ان کے عہد کی خلاف ورزی کی بنا پر ان کے سروں پر کوئہ طور کو بلند کردیا اور ان سے کہا کہ دروازہ سے سجدہ کرتے ہوئے داخل ہو اور ان سے کہا کہ خبردار شنبہ کے معاملہ میں زیادتی نہ کرنا اور ان سے بڑا سخت عہد لے لیا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور اِن لوگوں پر طور کو اٹھا کر اِن سے (اُس فرمان کی اطاعت کا) عہد لیا ہم نے اِن کو حکم دیا کہ دروازے میں سجدہ ریز ہوتے ہوئے داخل ہوں ہم نے اِن سے کہا کہ سبت کا قانون نہ توڑو اوراس پر اِن سے پختہ عہد لیا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

پھر ہم نے ان پر طور کو اونچا کیا ان سے عہد لینے کو اور ان سے فرمایا کہ دروازے میں سجدہ کرتے داخل ہو اور ان سے فرمایا کہ ہفتہ میں حد سے نہ بڑھو اور ہم نے ان سے گاڑھا عہد لیا - Ahmed Raza

اور ہم نے ان سے (فرمانبرداری کا) پختہ عہد لینے کے لیے ان کے اوپر کوہ طور کو بلند کیا اور ہم نے ان سے کہا سجدہ ریز ہوکر دروازہ (شہر) میں داخل ہو جاؤ اور ان سے کہا کہ قانون سبت کے بارے میں زیادتی نہ کرو (حد سے نہ بڑھو) اور ہم نے ان سے پختہ عہد و پیمان لیا تھا۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

فَبِمَا
Thus so due to
نَقْضِهِم
their breaking of
مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ
their ratification
وَكُفْرِهِم
and their denial
بِـَٔايَٰتِ
about the verses of
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
وَقَتْلِهِمُ
and their murdering of
ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ
the revolutionary leaders
بِغَيْرِ
without
حَقٍّۢ
right,
وَقَوْلِهِمْ
while they asserted,
قُلُوبُنَا
[Our hearts are
غُلْفٌۢ
protected],
ۚ
بَلْ
when in fact
طَبَعَ
has impressed
ٱللَّهُ
the One
عَلَيْهَا
upon their hearts
بِكُفْرِهِمْ
due to their denial,
فَلَا
hence not
يُؤْمِنُونَ
they will be convinced
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًۭا
a few.

١٥٥
فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّۢ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۢ ۚ بَلْ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا Thus so due to their breaking of their ratification and their denial about the verses of the One, and their murdering of the revolutionary leaders without right, while they asserted, [Our hearts are protected], when in fact has impressed the One upon their hearts due to their denial, hence not they will be convinced except a few.

Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few - - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Then because of their breaking their covenant, their defiance of Allah]s signs, their killing of the prophets unjustly and for their saying, [Our hearts are uncircumcised]… Indeed, Allah has set a seal on them for their unfaith, so they do not have faith except a few. - Qarai, Ali Quli

However, because of their disbelief, disregard of their covenant, denial of God's revelations, murdering the Prophets without reason, and their saying that their hearts were covered, We sealed up their hearts. Only a few of them believe. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Therefore, for their breaking their covenant and their disbelief in the communications of Allah and their killing the prophets wrongfully and their saying: Our hearts are covered; nay! Allah set a seal upon them owing to their unbelief, so they shall not believe except a few. - Shakir, Habib

But they broke their covenant; and they rejected the signs of God; and put the prophets to death without justification, and said, [Our hearts are sealed.] It is God who has sealed their hearts, on account of their denial of the truth. Except for a few of them, they have no faith. - Wahiduddin Khan

پس ان کے عہد کو توڑ دینے ,آیات هخدا کے انکار کرنے اور انبیائ کو ناحق قتل کر دینے اور یہ کہنے کی بنا پر کہ ہمارے دلوں پر فطرتا غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں حالانکہ ایسا نہیں ہے بلکہ خدا نے ان کے کفر کی بنا پر ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگادی ہے اور اب چند ایک کے علاوہ کوئی ایمان نہ لائے گا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

آخر کا ر اِن کی عہد شکنی کی وجہ سے، اور اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے اللہ کی آیات کو جھٹلایا، اور متعدد پیغمبروں کو نا حق قتل کیا، اور یہاں تک کہا کہ ہمارے دل غلافوں میں محفوظ ہیں حالانکہ در حقیقت اِن کی باطل پرستی کے سبب سے اللہ نے اِن کے دلوں پر ٹھپہ لگا دیا ہے اور اسی وجہ سے یہ بہت کم ایمان لاتے ہیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

تو ان کی کیسی بدعہدیوں کے سبب ہم نے ان پر لعنت کی اور اس لئے کہ وہ آیات الٰہی کے منکر ہوئے اور انبیاء کو ناحق شہید کرتے اور ان کے اس کہنے پر کہ ہمارے دلوں پر غلاف ہیں بلکہ اللہ نے ان کے کفر کے سبب ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگادی ہے تو ایمان نہیں لاتے مگر تھوڑے، - Ahmed Raza

سو (ان کو جو سزا ملی وہ) ان کے عہد شکنی کرنے، آیاتِ الٰہیہ کا انکار کرنے، نبیوں کو ناحق قتل کرنے اور ان کے اس کہنے کی وجہ سے کہ ہمارے دلوں پر غلاف چڑھے ہوئے ہیں۔ بلکہ ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے اللہ نے ان کے (دلوں) پر مہر لگا دی ہے۔ اس لیے وہ بہت کم ایمان لائیں گے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

And due to their denial
وَقَوْلِهِمْ
and them asserting
عَلَىٰ
upon
مَرْيَمَ
Maryam
بُهْتَٰنًا
a slander
عَظِيمًۭا
of great magnitude.
And due to their denial and them asserting upon Maryam a slander of great magnitude.

And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And for their faithlessness, and their uttering a monstrous calumny against Mary, - Qarai, Ali Quli
⦿
Their hearts were also sealed because of their lack of faith, their gravely slanderous accusation against Mary, - Sarwar, Muhammad

And for their unbelief and for their having uttered against Marium a grievous calumny. - Shakir, Habib

They denied the truth and uttered a monstrous slander against Mary. - Wahiduddin Khan

اور ان کے کفر اور مریم پر عظیم بہتان لگانے کی بنا پر - Jawadi, Zeeshan

پھر اپنے کفر میں اتنے بڑھے کہ مریم پر سخت بہتان لگایا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اس لئے کہ انہوں نے کفر کیا اور مریم پر بڑا بہتان اٹھایا، - Ahmed Raza

نیز ان کے ساتھ یہ جو کچھ ہوا یہ ان کے کفر کی وجہ سے ہوا۔ اور جناب مریم پر بہتان عظیم لگانے کی وجہ سے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
