Is he on whom the word of doom is fulfilled (to be helped), and canst thou (O Muhammad) rescue him who is in the Fire?

لَٰكِنِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ رَبَّهُمْ لَهُمْ غُرَفٌۭ مِّن فَوْقِهَا غُرَفٌۭ مَّبْنِيَّةٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۖ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ

⦿

But those who keep their duty to their Lord, for them are lofty halls with lofty halls above them, built (for them), beneath which rivers flow. (It is) a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise.

⦿

But as for those who are wary of their Lord, for them there will be lofty abodes with [other] lofty abodes built above them, with streams running beneath them—a promise of Allah. Allah does not break His promise.

⦿

Those who have fear of their Lord will have lofty mansions built upon mansions beneath which streams flow. It is the promise of God. God does not disregard His promise.

⦿

But (as for) those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have high places, above them higher places, built (for them), beneath which flow rivers; (this is) the promise of Allah: Allah will not fail in (His) promise.

But for those who truly feared their Lord, there will be tall mansions, built up storey upon storey, beneath which there will be rivers flowing. This is God's promise: God never fails in His promise.

البتہ جن لوگوں نے اپنے پروردگار کا خوف پیدا کیا ان کے لئے جنّت کے غرفے ہیں اور ان کے غرفوں پر مزید غرفے ہیں جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی - یہ خدا کا وعدہ ہے اور خدا اپنے وعدہ کے خلاف نہیں کرتا ہے

البتہ جو لوگ اپنے رب سے ڈر کر رہے اُن کے لیے بلند عمارتیں ہیں منزل پر منزل بنی ہوئی، جن کے نیچے نہریں بہہ رہی ہوں گی یہ اللہ کا وعدہ ہے، اللہ کبھی اپنے وعدے کی خلاف ورزی نہیں کرتا

لیکن جو اپنے رب سے ڈرے ان کے لیے بالا خانے ہیں ان پر بالا خانے بنے ان کے نیچے نہریں بہیں، اللہ کا وعدہ، اللہ وعدہ خلاف نہیں کرتا،

البتہ جو لوگ اپنے پروردگار سے ڈرتے رہے ان کیلئے ایسے بالا خانے ہیں کہ جن کے اوپر اور بالا خانے بنے ہوئے ہیں جن کے نیچے سے نہریں جاری ہیں یہ اللہ کا وعدہ ہے اور اللہ کبھی (اپنے) وعدے کے خلاف نہیں کرتا۔

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَسَلَكَهُۥ يَنَٰبِيعَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًۭا مُّخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَىٰهُ مُصْفَرًّۭا ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُۥ حُطَٰمًا ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ

⦿

Hast thou not seen how Allah hath sent down water from the sky and hath caused it to penetrate the earth as watersprings, and afterward thereby produceth crops of divers hues; and afterward they wither and thou seest them turn yellow; then He maketh them chaff. Lo! herein verily is a reminder for men of understanding.

Have you not seen that Allah sends down water from the sky, then He conducts it through the ground as springs. Then He brings forth with it crops of diverse hues. Then they wither and you see them turn yellow. Then He turns them into chaff. There is indeed a lesson in that for those who possess intellect.

Have you not seen that God has sent down water from the sky and made it flow as springs out of the earth? He makes crops of different colors grow with this water and flourish, which then turn yellow and wither away. In this there is a reminder for the people of understanding.

Do you not see that Allah sends down water from the cloud, then makes it go along in the earth in springs, then brings forth therewith herbage of various colors, then it withers so that you see it becoming yellow, then He makes it a thing crushed and broken into pieces? Most surely there is a reminder in this for the men of understanding.

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ خدا نے آسمان سے پانی نازل کیا ہے پھر اسے مختلف چشموں میں جاری کردیا ہے پھر اس کے ذریعہ مختلف رنگ کی زراعت پیدا کرتا ہے پھر وہ کھیتی سوکھ جاتی ہے تو اسے زرد رنگ میں دیکھتے ہو پھر اسے بھوسا بنادیتا ہے ان تمام باتوں میں صاحبانِ عقل کے لئے یاددہانی اور نصیحت کا سامان پایا جاتا ہے

کیا تم نہیں دیکھتے کہ اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی برسایا، پھر اس کو سوتوں اور چشموں اور دریاؤں کی شکل میں زمین کے اندر جاری کیا، پھر اس پانی کے ذریعہ سے وہ طرح طرح کی کھیتیاں نکالتا ہے جن کی قسمیں مختلف ہیں، پھر وہ کھیتیاں پک کر سوکھ جاتی ہیں، پھر تم دیکھتے ہو کہ وہ زرد پڑ گئیں، پھر آخرکار اللہ اُن کو بھس بنا دیتا ہے در حقیقت اِس میں ایک سبق ہے عقل رکھنے والوں کے لیے

کیا تو نے نہ دیکھا کہ اللہ نے آسمان سے پانی اتارا پھر اس سے زمین میں چشمے بنائے پھر اس سے کھیتی نکالتا ہے کئی رنگت کی پھر سوکھ جاتی ہے تو تُو دیکھے کہ وہ پیلی پڑ گئی پھر اسے ریزہ ریزہ کردیتا ہے، بیشک اس میں دھیان کی بات ہے عقل مندوں کو

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ اللہ آسمان سے پانی اتارتا ہے اور پھر زیرِ زمین اس کے چشمے جاری کر دیتا ہے پھر اس سے مختلف قسم کی رنگ برنگی کھیتیاں برآمد کرتا ہے پھر وہ (پک کر) خشک ہونے لگتی ہیں تم انہیں زرد دیکھتے ہو پھر انہیں ریزہ ریزہ کر دیتا ہے۔ بے شک اس میں صاحبانِ عقل کیلئے نصیحت ہے۔

أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلْقَٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ

Is he whose bosom Allah hath expanded for Al-Islam, so that he followeth a light from his Lord, (as he who disbelieveth)? Then woe unto those whose hearts are hardened against remembrance of Allah. Such are in plain error.

Is someone whose breast Allah has opened to Islam so that he follows a light from His Lord…? So woe to those whose hearts have been hardened to the remembrance of Allah. They are in manifest error.

⦿

One whose chest (heart and mind) is left open for Islam (submission to His will) shall receive light from God. Woe to those whose hearts have become like stone against the remembrance of God. They are clearly in error.

What! is he whose heart Allah has opened for Islam so that he is in a light from his Lord (like the hard-hearted)? Nay, woe to those whose hearts are hard against the remembrance of Allah; those are in clear error.

Anyone whose heart God has opened up to Islam possesses a light from his Lord. But woe betide those whose hearts have been hardened against the rememberance of God! Such people are in obvious error.

کیا وہ شخص جس کے دل کو خدا نے اسلام کے لئے کشادہ کردیا ہے تو وہ اپنے پروردگار کی طرف سے نورانیت کا حامل ہے گمراہوں جیسا ہوسکتا ہے - افسوس ان لوگوں کے حال پر جن کے دل ذکر خدا کے لئے سخت ہوگئے ہیں تو وہ کھلی ہوئی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہیں

اب کیا وہ شخص جس کا سینہ اللہ نے اسلام کے لیے کھول دیا اور وہ اپنے رب کی طرف سے ایک روشنی پر چل رہا ہے (اُس شخص کی طرح ہو سکتا ہے جس نے اِن باتوں سے کوئی سبق نہ لیا؟) تباہی ہے اُن لوگوں کے لیے جن کے دل اللہ کی نصیحت سے اور زیادہ سخت ہو گئے وہ کھلی گمراہی میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں

تو کیا وہ جس کا سینہ اللہ نے اسلام کے لیے کھول دیا تو وہ اپنے رب کی طرف سے نور پر ہے اس جیسا ہوجائے گا جو سنگدل ہے تو خرابی ہے ان کی جن کے دل یادِ خدا کی طرف سے سخت ہوگئے ہیں وہ کھلی گمراہی میں ہیں،

کیا وہ شخص جس کے سینہ کو اللہ نے (قبولِ) اسلام کیلئے کھول دیا ہے اور وہ اپنے پروردگار کی طرف سے نور (ہدایت) پر ہے (قسی القلب لوگوں کی طرح ہو سکتا ہے) بربادی ہے ان کیلئے جن کے دل ذکرِ خدا سے سخت ہوگئے ہیں یہ لوگ کھلی ہوئی گمراہی میں ہیں۔

ٱللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْحَدِيثِ كِتَٰبًۭا مُّتَشَٰبِهًۭا مَّثَانِىَ تَقْشَعِرُّ مِنْهُ جُلُودُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ ثُمَّ تَلِينُ جُلُودُهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ

Allah hath (now) revealed the fairest of statements, a Scripture consistent, (wherein promises of reward are) paired (with threats of punishment), whereat doth creep the flesh of those who fear their Lord, so that their flesh and their hearts soften to Allah's reminder. Such is Allah's guidance, wherewith He guideth whom He will. And him whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.

Allah has sent down the best of discourses, a scripture [composed] of similar motifs, whereat shiver the skins of those who fear their Lord, then their skins and hearts relax at Allah]s remembrance. That is Allah]s guidance, by which He guides whomever He wishes; and whomever Allah leads astray, has no guide.

God has revealed the best reading material in the form of a Book with similar passages which refer to each other and make the skins of those who fear their Lord shiver. Then their skins and hearts incline to the remembrance of God. This is the guidance of God. He guides whomever He wants. No one can guide those whom God has caused to go astray.

Allah has revealed the best announcement, a book conformable in its various parts, repeating, whereat do shudder the skins of those who fear their Lord, then their skins and their hearts become pliant to the remembrance of Allah; this is Allah's guidance, He guides with it whom He pleases; and (as for) him whom Allah makes err, there is no guide for him.

God has sent down the best Message: a Scripture that is consimilar and oft-repeated: that causes the skins of those in awe of their Lord to creep. Then their skins and their hearts soften at the mention of God: such is God's guidance. He bestows it upon whoever He will; but no one can guide those whom God leaves to stray.

اللہ نے بہترین کلام اس کتاب کی شکل میں نازل کیا ہے جس کی آیتیں آپس میں ملتی جلتی ہیں اور بار بار دہرائی گئی ہیں کہ ان سے خوف خدا رکھنے والوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہوجاتے ہیں اس کے بعد ان کے جسم اور دل یاد خدا کے لئے نرم ہوجاتے ہیں یہی اللہ کی واقعی ہدایت ہے وہ جس کو چاہتا ہے عطا فرمادیتا ہے اور جس کو وہ گمراہی میں چھوڑ دے اس کا کوئی ہدایت کرنے والا نہیں ہے

اللہ نے بہترین کلام اتارا ہے، ایک ایسی کتاب جس کے تمام اجزاء ہم رنگ ہیں اور جس میں بار بار مضامین دہرائے گئے ہیں اُسے سن کر اُن لوگوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جاتے ہیں جو اپنے رب سے ڈرنے والے ہیں، اور پھر ان کے جسم اور ان کے دل نرم ہو کر اللہ کے ذکر کی طرف راغب ہو جاتے ہیں یہ اللہ کی ہدایت ہے جس سے وہ راہ راست پر لے آتا ہے جسے چاہتا ہے اور جسے اللہ ہی ہدایت نہ دے اس کے لیے پھر کوئی ہادی نہیں ہے

اللہ نے اتاری سب سے اچھی کتاب کہ اول سے آخر تک ایک سی ہے دوہرے بیان والی اس سے بال کھڑے ہوتے ہیں ان کے بدن پر جو اپنے رب سے ڈرتے ہیں، پھر ان کی کھالیں اور دل نرم پڑتے ہیں یادِ خدا کی طرف رغبت میں یہ اللہ کی ہدایت ہے راہ دکھائے اس سے جسے چاہے، اور جسے اللہ گمراہ کرے اسے کوئی راہ دکھانے والا نہیں،

اللہ ہی نے بہترین کلام نازل کیا ہے یعنی ایسی کتاب جس کی آیتیں آپس میں ملتی جلتی ہیں (اور) بار بار دہرائی جاتی ہیں اس (کے پڑھنے) سے ان لوگوں کے رونگٹے کھڑے ہو جاتے ہیں جو اپنے پروردگار سے ڈرتے ہیں پھر ان کے جسم اور ان کے دل اللہ کے ذکر کی طرف نرم (مائل) ہو جاتے ہیں یہ اللہ کی ہدایت ہے جس کے ذریعہ سے وہ جس کی چاہتا ہے راہنمائی کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے اس کیلئے کوئی راہنما نہیں۔

Is he then, who will strike his face against the awful doom upon the Day of Resurrection (as he who doeth right)? And it will be said unto the wrong-doers: Taste what ye used to earn.

كَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Have lied people from before them, so came to them the punishment from where not they were comprehending.

Those before them denied, and so the doom came on them whence they knew not.

وَلَعَذَابُ

and for sure punishment of

ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ

the forthcoming

أَكْبَرُ

كَانُوا۟

يَعْلَمُونَ

of knowledge.

فَأَذَاقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْخِزْىَ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ

Thus made them taste, the One, humilliation in the life of this World, and for sure punishment of the forthcoming is greater, if only they were of knowledge.

Thus Allah made them taste humiliation in the life of the world, and verily the doom of the Hereafter will be greater if they did but know.

And for sure We have put forth for the populace within this Proclamatory Reading of all examples so that they may be mindful.

And verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes, that haply they may reflect;

Allah coineth a similitude: A man in relation to whom are several part-owners, quarrelling, and a man belonging wholly to one man. Are the two equal in similitude? Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not.

Allah draws an example: a man jointly owned by several contending masters, and a man belonging entirely to one man: are the two equal in comparison? All praise belongs to Allah! But most of them do not know.

God tells a parable in which there is a company of quarrelsome people and only one of them is well disciplined. Can they be considered as equal? It is only God who deserves all praise. In fact, most of them do not know.

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
