Couldst thou but see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord, (and say): Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back; we will do right, now we are sure. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Were you to see when the guilty hang their heads before their Lord [confessing], [Our Lord! We have seen and heard. Send us back so that we may act righteously. Indeed we are [now] convinced.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

And if We had so willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me concerning evildoers took effect: that I will fill hell with the jinn and mankind together. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So taste (the evil of your deeds). Forasmuch as ye forgot the meeting of this your day, lo! We forget you. Taste the doom of immortality because of what ye used to do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So taste [the punishment] for your having forgotten the encounter of this day of yours. We [too] have forgotten you. Taste the everlasting punishment because of what you used to do. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But as for those who believe and do good works, for them are the Gardens of Retreat - a welcome (in reward) for what they used to do. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا۟ فَمَأْوَىٰهُمُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓا۟ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَآ أُعِيدُوا۟ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And as for those who do evil, their retreat is the Fire. Whenever they desire to issue forth from thence, they are brought back thither. Unto them it is said: Taste the torment of the Fire which ye used to deny. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

As for those who have transgressed, their refuge will be the Fire. Whenever they seek to leave it, they will be turned back into it and told: [Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

However, the dwelling of the sinful ones will be hell fire. Each time they try to come out, they will be turned back with this remark, [Suffer the torment of the fire which you had called a lie]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And verily We make them taste the lower punishment before the greater, that haply they may return. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We shall surely make them taste the nearer punishment prior to the greater punishment, so that they may come back. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اُس بڑے عذاب سے پہلے ہم اِسی دنیا میں (کسی نہ کسی چھوٹے) عذاب کا مزا اِنہیں چکھاتے رہیں گے، شاید کہ یہ (اپنی باغیانہ روش سے) باز آ جائیں - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And who doth greater wrong than he who is reminded of the revelations of his Lord, then turneth from them. Lo! We shall requite the guilty. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We verily gave Moses the Scripture; so be not ye in doubt of his receiving it; and We appointed it a guidance for the Children of Israel. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Certainly We gave Moses the Book, [declaring], [Do not be in doubt about the encounter with Him,] and We made it a [source of] guidance for the Children of Israel. - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا۟ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And when they became steadfast and believed firmly in Our revelations, We appointed from among them leaders who guided by Our command. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When they had been patient and had conviction in Our signs, We appointed amongst them imams to guide [the people] by Our command. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Is it not a guidance for them (to observe) how many generations We destroyed before them, amid whose dwelling places they do walk? Lo! therein verily are portents! Will they not then heed? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Does it not dawn upon them how many generations We have destroyed before them, amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk? There are indeed signs in that. Will they not then listen? - Qarai, Ali Quli

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَسُوقُ ٱلْمَآءَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعًۭا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَٰمُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Have they not seen how We lead the water to the barren land and therewith bring forth crops whereof their cattle eat, and they themselves? Will they not then see? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

اور کیا اِن لوگوں نے یہ منظر کبھی نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم ایک بے آب و گیاہ زمین کی طرف پانی بہا لاتے ہیں، اور پھر اسی زمین سے وہ فصل اُگاتے ہیں جس سے ان کے جانوروں کو بھی چارہ ملتا ہے اور یہ خود بھی کھاتے ہیں؟ تو کیا انہیں کچھ نہیں سوجھتا؟ - Maududi, Abul A'ala
