And (remember) when Luqman said unto his son, when he was exhorting him: O my dear son! Ascribe no partners unto Allah. Lo! to ascribe partners (unto Him) is a tremendous wrong - - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When Luqman said to his son, as he advised him: [O my son! Do not ascribe any partners to Allah. Polytheism is indeed a great injustice.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Luqman advised his son telling him, [My son, do not consider anything equal to God, for it is the greatest injustice.] - Sarwar, Muhammad

And when Luqman said to his son while he admonished him: O my son! do not associate aught with Allah; most surely polytheism is a grievous iniquity-- - Shakir, Habib

اور اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب لقمان نے اپنے فرزند کو نصیحت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ بیٹا خبردار کسی کو خدا کا شریک نہ بنانا کہ شرک بہت بڑا ظلم ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍۢ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ فِى عَامَيْنِ أَنِ ٱشْكُرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَ إِلَىَّ ٱلْمَصِيرُ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We have enjoined upon man concerning his partners - His mother beareth him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years - Give thanks unto Me and unto thy parents. Unto Me is the journeying. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We have enjoined man concerning his parents: His mother carried him through weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years. Give thanks to Me and to your parents. To Me is the return. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ہم نے انسان کو اپنے والدین کا حق پہچاننے کی خود تاکید کی ہے اُس کی ماں نے ضعف پر ضعف اُٹھا کر اسے اپنے پیٹ میں رکھا اور دو سال اُس کا دودھ چھوٹنے میں لگے (اِسی لیے ہم نے اُس کو نصیحت کی کہ) میرا شکر کر اور اپنے والدین کا شکر بجا لا، میری ہی طرف تجھے پلٹنا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ہم نے آدمی کو اس کے ماں باپ کے بارے میں تاکید فرمائی اس کی ماں نے اسے پیٹ میں رکھا کمزوری پر کمزوری جھیلتی ہوئی اور اس کا دودھ چھوٹنا دو برس میں ہے یہ کہ حق مان میرا اور اپنے ماں باپ کا آخر مجھی تک آنا ہے، - Ahmed Raza

اور ہم نے انسان کو اس کے ماں باپ کے بارے میں (حسنِ سلوک کرنے کا) تاکیدی حکم دیا (کیونکہ) اس کی ماں نے کمزوری پر کمزوری سہہ کر اسے (پیٹ میں) اٹھائے رکھا اور دو برس میں اس کا دودھ چھوٹا (وہ تاکیدی حکم یہ تھا کہ) میرا اور اپنے ماں باپ کا شکریہ ادا کر (آخرکار) میری ہی طرف (تمہاری) بازگشت ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

But if they strive with thee to make thee ascribe unto Me as partner that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Consort with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who repenteth unto Me. Then unto Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what ye used to do - - Pickthall, Marmaduke

But if they urge you to ascribe to Me as partner that of which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. Keep their company honourably in this world and follow the way of those who turn to Me penitently. Then to Me will be your return, whereat I will inform you concerning what you used to do. - Qarai, Ali Quli

If they try to force you to consider things equal to Me, which you cannot justify, equal to Me, do not obey them. Maintain lawful relations with them in this world and follow the path of those who turn in repentance to Me. To Me you will all return and I shall tell you all that you have done. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them, and keep company with them in this world kindly, and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, then will I inform you of what you did-- - Shakir, Habib

اور اگر تمہارے ماں باپ اس بات پر زور دیں کہ کسی ایسی چیز کو میرا شریک بناؤ جس کا تمہیں علم نہیں ہے تو خبردار ان کی اطاعت نہ کرنا لیکن دنیا میں ان کے ساتھ نیکی کا برتاؤ کرنا اور اس کے راستے کو اختیار کرنا جو میری طرف متوجہ ہو پھر اس کے بعد تم سب کی بازگشت میری ہی طرف ہے اور اس وقت میں بتاؤں گا کہ تم لوگ کیا کررہے تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

لیکن اگر وہ تجھ پر دباؤ ڈالیں کہ میرے ساتھ تو کسی ایسے کو شریک کرے جسے تو نہیں جانتا تو ان کی بات ہرگز نہ مان دُنیا میں ان کے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کرتا رہ مگر پیروی اُس شخص کے راستے کی کر جس نے میری طرف رجوع کیا ہے پھر تم سب کو پلٹنا میری ہی طرف ہے، اُس وقت میں تمہیں بتا دوں گا کہ تم کیسے عمل کرتے رہے ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اگر وہ دونوں تجھ سے کوشش کریں کہ میرا شریک ٹھہرائے ایسی چیز کو جس کا تجھے علم نہیں تو ان کا کہنا نہ مان اور دنیا میں اچھی طرح ان کا ساتھ دے اور اس کی راہ چل جو میری طرف رجوع لایا پھر میری ہی طرف تمہیں پھر آنا ہے تو میں بتادوں گا جو تم کرتے تھے - Ahmed Raza

يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنَّهَآ إِن تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍۢ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍۢ فَتَكُن فِى صَخْرَةٍ أَوْ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ أَوْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَطِيفٌ خَبِيرٌۭ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

O my dear son! Lo! though it be but the weight of a grain of mustard-seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Lo! Allah is Subtile, Aware. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

[O my son! Even if it should be the weight of a mustard seed, and [even though] it should be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will produce it. Indeed Allah is all-attentive, all-aware. - Qarai, Ali Quli

[My son, God keeps the records of all the good and evil deeds, even if they are as small as a grain of mustard seed, hidden in a rock or in the heavens or the earth. God is subtle and All-aware. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware; - Shakir, Habib

[Luqman further said,] [O my son! Though it be but the weight of a grain of mustard seed and though it be hidden in a rock, or in the heavens or on the earth, God will bring it forth. Truly, God is the knower of all subtleties and He is aware. - Wahiduddin Khan

بیٹا نیکی یا بدی ایک رائی کے دانہ کے برابر ہو اور کسی پتھر کے اندر ہو یا آسمانوں پر ہو یا زمینوں کی گہرائیوں میں ہو تو خدا روزِ قیامت ضرور اسے سامنے لائے گا کہ وہ لطیف بھی ہے اور باخبر بھی ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

(اور لقمان نے کہا تھا کہ) ——بیٹا، کوئی چیز رائی کے دانہ برابر بھی ہو اور کسی چٹان میں یا آسمانوں یا زمین میں کہیں چھپی ہوئی ہو، اللہ اُسے نکال لائے گا وہ باریک بیں اور باخبر ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے بیٹا! اگر کوئی (نیک یا بد) عمل رائی کے دانہ کے برابر بھی ہو اور کسی پتھر کے نیچے ہو یا آسمانوں میں یا زمین میں تو اللہ اسے لے ہی آئے گا بے شک اللہ بڑا باریک بین اور بڑا باخبر ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad

يَٰبُنَىَّ أَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱنْهَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَكَ ۖ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ ٱلْأُمُورِ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

O my dear son! Establish worship and enjoin kindness and forbid iniquity, and persevere whatever may befall thee. Lo! that is of the steadfast heart of things. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O my son! Maintain the prayer and bid what is right and forbid what is wrong, and be patient through whatever may befall you. That is indeed the steadiest of courses. - Qarai, Ali Quli

And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And if a wave enshroudeth them like awnings, they cry unto Allah, making their faith pure for Him only. But when He bringeth them safe to land, some of them compromise. None denieth Our signs save every traitor ingrate. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When waves cover them like awnings; they invoke Allah, putting exclusive faith in Him. But when He delivers them towards land, [only] some of them remain unswerving. No one will impugn Our signs except an ungrateful traitor. - Qarai, Ali Quli

اور جب (سمندر میں) اِن لوگوں پر ایک موج سائبانوں کی طرح چھا جاتی ہے تو یہ اللہ کو پکارتے ہیں اپنے دین کو بالکل اسی کے لیے خالص کر کے، پھر جب وہ بچا کر انہیں خشکی تک پہنچا دیتا ہے تو ان میں سے کوئی اقتصاد برتتا ہے، اور ہماری نشانیوں کا انکار نہیں کرتا مگر ہر وہ شخص جو غدّار اور ناشکرا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ان پر آپڑتی ہے کوئی موج پہاڑوں کی طرح تو اللہ کو پکارتے ہیں نرے اسی پر عقیدہ رکھتے ہوئے پھر جب انہیں خشکی کی طرف بچا لاتا ہے تو ان میں کوئی اعتدال پر رہتا ہے اور ہماری آیتوں کا انکار نہ کرے گا مگر ہر بڑا بے وفا ناشکرا، - Ahmed Raza

O mankind! Keep your duty to your Lord and fear a Day when the parent will not be able to avail the child in aught, nor the child to avail the parent. Lo! Allah's promise is the very truth.
