وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱلَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا۟ ۚ وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ قَٰتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَوِ ٱدْفَعُوا۟ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًۭا لَّٱتَّبَعْنَٰكُمْ ۗ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْإِيمَٰنِ ۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And that He might know the hypocrites, unto whom it was said: Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend yourselves. They answered: If we knew aught of fighting we would follow you. On that day they were nearer disbelief than faith. They utter with their mouths a thing which is not in their hearts. Allah is Best Aware of what they hide. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

and ascertain the hypocrites. [When] they were told: [Come, fight in the way of Allah, or defend [yourselves], they said, [If we knew any fighting, we would have surely followed you.] That day they were nearer to unfaith than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and Allah knows well whatever they conceal. - Qarai, Ali Quli

and who were the hypocrites. When the hypocrites were asked to fight for the cause of God or to defend the city, they replied, [Had we known before that you would fight, we would certainly not have followed you.] At that time they were closer to disbelief than to faith. They speak words that do not come from their hearts. God knows well whatever they try to hide. - Sarwar, Muhammad

اور منافقین کو بھی دیکھنا چاہتا تھا .ان منافقین سے کہا گیا کہ آؤ راسِ خدا میں جہاد کرو یا اپنے نفس سے دفاع کرو تو انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم کو معلوم ہوتا کہ واقعی جنگ ہوگی تو تمہارے ساتھ ضرور آتے.. یہ ایمان کی نسبت کفر سے زیادہ قریب تر ہیں اور زبان سے وہ کہتے ہیں جو دل میں نہیں ہوتا اور اللہ ان کے پوشیدہ امور سے باخبر ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور منافق کون، وہ منافق کہ جب اُن سے کہا گیا آؤ، اللہ کی راہ میں جنگ کرو یا کم از کم (اپنے شہر کی) مدافعت ہی کرو، تو کہنے لگے اگر ہمیں علم ہوتا کہ آج جنگ ہوگی تو ہم ضرور ساتھ چلتے یہ بات جب وہ کہہ رہے تھے اُس وقت وہ ایمان کی نسبت کفر سے زیادہ قریب تھے وہ اپنی زبانوں سے وہ باتیں کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دلوں میں نہیں ہوتیں، اور جو کچھ وہ دلوں میں چھپاتے ہیں اللہ اسے خوب جانتا ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اس لئے کہ پہچان کرادے، ان کی جو منافق ہوئے اور ان سے کہا گیا کہ ا ٓؤ اللہ کی راہ میں لڑو یا دشمن کو ہٹاؤ بولے اگر ہم لڑائی ہوتی جانتے تو ضرو ر تمہارا ساتھ دیتے، اور اس دن ظاہری ایمان کی بہ نسبت کھلے کفر سے زیادہ قریب ہیں، اپنے منہ سے کہتے ہیں جو ان کے دل میں نہیں اور اللہ کو معلوم ہے جو چھپارہے ہیں - Ahmed Raza

ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ وَقَعَدُوا۟ لَوْ أَطَاعُونَا مَا قُتِلُوا۟ ۗ قُلْ فَٱدْرَءُوا۟ عَنْ أَنفُسِكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Those who, while they sat at home, said of their brethren (who were fighting for the cause of Allah): If they had been guided by us they would not have been slain. Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Then avert death from yourselves if ye are truthful. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Those who said of their brethren, while they themselves sat back: [Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed.] Say, [Then keep death off from yourselves, if you are truthful.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

There are those who themselves did not join the others in fighting for the cause of God and said about their brothers, [Had they listened to us and stayed at home, they would not have been killed.] (Muhammad), tell them to save themselves from death if they are true in their claim. - Sarwar, Muhammad

یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے مقتول بھائیوں کے بارے میں یہ کہنا شروع کردیا کہ وہ ہماری اطاعت کرتے تو ہرگز قتل نہ ہوتے تو پیغمبر ان سے کہہ دیجئے کہ اگر اپنے دعوٰی میں سچےّ ہو تو اب اپنی ہی موت کو ٹال دو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یہ وہی لوگ ہیں جو خود تو بیٹھے رہے او ران کے جو بھائی بند لڑنے گئے اور مارے گئے ان کے متعلق انہوں نے کہہ دیا کہ ا گروہ ہماری بات مان لیتے تو نہ مارے جاتے ان سے کہو اگر تم اپنے قول میں سچے ہو تو خود تمہاری موت جب آئے اُسے ٹال کر دکھا دینا - Maududi, Abul A'ala

Think not of those, who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

فَرِحِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا۟ بِهِم مِّنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Jubilant (are they) because of that which Allah hath bestowed upon them of His bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not joined them but are left behind: That there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

exulting in what Allah has given them out of His grace, and rejoicing for those who have not yet joined them from [those left] behind them, that they will have no fear, nor will they grieve. - Qarai, Ali Quli

شاد ہیں اس پر جو اللہ نے انہیں اپنے فضل سے دیا اور خوشیاں منارہے ہیں اپنے پچھلوں کی جو ابھی ان سے نہ ملے کہ ان پر نہ کچھ اندیشہ ہے اور نہ کچھ غم، - Ahmed Raza

Those unto whom men said: Lo! the people have gathered against you, therefor fear them. (The threat of danger) but increased the faith of them and they cried: Allah is Sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So they returned with grace and favour from Allah, and no harm touched them. They followed the good pleasure of Allah, and Allah is of Infinite Bounty. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَلَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَلَّا يَجْعَلَ لَهُمْ حَظًّۭا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Let not their conduct grieve thee, who run easily to disbelief, for lo! they injure Allah not at all. It is Allah's Will to assign them no portion in the Hereafter, and theirs will be an awful doom. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Do not grieve for those who are active in unfaith; they will not hurt Allah in the least: Allah desires to give them no share in the Hereafter, and there is a great punishment for them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

(اے پیغمبرؐ) جو لوگ آج کفر کی راہ میں بڑی دوڑ دھوپ کر رہے ہیں ان کی سرگرمیاں تمہیں آزردہ نہ کریں، یہ اللہ کا کچھ بھی نہ بگاڑ سکیں گے اللہ کا ارادہ یہ ہے کہ اُن کے لیے آخرت میں کوئی حصہ نہ رکھے، اور بالآخر ان کو سخت سزا ملنے والی ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اے محبوب! تم ان کا کچھ غم نہ کرو جو کفر پر دوڑتے ہیں وہ اللہ کا کچھ بگاڑیں گے اور اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ آخرت میں ان کا کوئی حصہ نہ رکھے اور ان کے لئے بڑا عذاب ہے، - Ahmed Raza

إِنَّ
Surely
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ٱشْتَرَوُا۟
exchange
ٱلْكُفْرَ
denial
بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ
with conviction,
لَن
never
يَضُرُّوا۟
can they harm
ٱللَّهَ
the One
شَيْـًۭٔا
of something,
وَلَهُمْ
and for them is
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
أَلِيمٌۭ
that is painful.

١٧٧
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ Surely the ones who exchange denial with conviction, never can they harm the One of something, and for them is a punishment that is painful.
