Ye are the best community that hath been raised up for mankind. Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency; and ye believe in Allah. And if the People of the Scripture had believed it had been better for them. Some of them are believers; but most of them are evil-livers. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

ضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ أَيْنَ مَا ثُقِفُوٓا۟ إِلَّا بِحَبْلٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَحَبْلٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَبَآءُو بِغَضَبٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَسْكَنَةُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يَكْفُرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّۢ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ يَعْتَدُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save (where they grasp) a rope from Allah and a rope from men. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them. That is because they used to disbelieve the revelations of Allah, and slew the prophets wrongfully. That is because they were rebellious and used to transgress. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Wherever they are found, abasement is stamped upon them, except for an asylum from Allah and an asylum from the people. They have earned the wrath of Allah, and poverty has been stamped upon them. Humiliation will strike them wherever they seek protection, except when they seek protection from God and the people. They have incurred the wrath of God unto themselves and have been struck with destitution for their rejection of the revelations of God and for unjustly murdering the Prophets. Abasement is made to cleave to them wherever they are found, except under a covenant with Allah and a covenant with men, and they have become deserving of wrath from Allah, and humiliation is made to cleave to them; this is because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and slew the prophets unjustly; this is because they disobeyed and exceeded the limits. - Shakir, Habib

They have incurred God's wrath and have been utterly humbled, because they have persistently disbelieved in God's signs and killed prophets unjustly. ان پر ذلّت کے نشان لگادئیے گئے ہیں یہ جہاں بھی رہیں مگر یہ کہ خدائی عہد یا لوگوں کے معاہدہ کی پناہ مل جائے .یہ غضبِ الٰہی میں رہیں گے اور ان پر مسکنت کی مار رہے گی. یہ اس لئے ہے کہ یہ آیات الٰہی کا انکار کرتے تھے اور ناحق انبیائ کو قتل کرتے تھے. یہ اس لئے کہ یہ نافرمان تھے اور زیادتیاں کیا کرتے تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

یہ جہاں بھی پائے گئے اِن پر ذلت کی مار ہی پڑی، کہیں اللہ کے ذمہ یا انسانوں کے ذمہ میں پناہ مل گئی تو یہ اور بات ہے یہ اللہ کے غضب میں گھر چکے ہیں، ان پر محتاجی و مغلوبی مسلط کر دی گئی ہے، اور یہ سب کچھ صرف اس وجہ سے ہوا ہے کہ یہ اللہ کی آیات سے کفر کرتے رہے اور انہوں نے پیغمبروں کو ناحق قتل کیا یہ ان کی نافرمانیوں اور زیادتیوں کا انجام ہے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

ان پر جمادی گئی خواری جہاں ہوں امان نہ پائیں مگر اللہ کی ڈور اور آدمیوں کی ڈور سے اور غضب الٰہی کے سزاوار ہوئے اور ان پر جمادی گئی محتاجی یہ اس لئے کہ وہ اللہ کی آیتوں سے کفر کرتے اور پیغمبروں کو ناحق شہید کرتے، یہ اس لئے کہ نا فرمانبردار اور سرکش تھے، - Ahmed Raza

لَيْسُوا۟ سَوَآءًۭ ۗ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ أُمَّةٌۭ قَآئِمَةٌۭ يَتْلُونَ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ءَانَآءَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

They are not all alike. Of the People of the Scripture there is a staunch community who recite the revelations of Allah in the night season, falling prostrate (before Him). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَيَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency, and vie one with another in good works. These are of the righteous. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And whatever good they do, they will not be denied the meed thereof. Allah is Aware of those who ward off (evil). - Pickthall, Marmaduke
