قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلنَّهَارَ سَرْمَدًا إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَنْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِلَيْلٍۢ تَسْكُنُونَ فِيهِ ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Say: Have ye thought, if Allah made day everlasting for you till the Day of Resurrection, who is a god beside Allah who could bring you night wherein ye rest? Will ye not then see?

Say, [Tell me, if Allah were to make the day perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than Allah can bring you night wherein you can rest? Will you not perceive?]

Say, [Do you not think that if God were to cause the day to continue until the Day of Judgment, which Lord besides Him could bring you the night to rest. Do you not see (His signs)?]

Say: Tell me, if Allah were to make the day to continue incessantly on you till the day of resurrection, who is the god besides Allah that could bring you the night in which you take rest? Do you not then see?

اِن سے پوچھو، کبھی تم نے سوچا کہ اگر اللہ قیامت تک تم پر ہمیشہ کے لیے دن طاری کر دے تو اللہ کے سوا وہ کونسا معبُود ہے جو تمہیں رات لا دے تاکہ تم اس میں سکون حاصل کر سکو؟ کیا تم کو سُوجھتا نہیں؟

تم فرماؤ بھلا دیکھو تو اگر اللہ قیامت تک ہمیشہ دن رکھے تو اللہ کے سوا کون خدا ہے جو تمہیں رات لادے جس میں آرام کرو تو کیا تمہیں سوجھتا نہیں

وَمِن رَّحْمَتِهِۦ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Of His mercy hath He appointed for you night and day, that therein ye may rest, and that ye may seek His bounty, and that haply ye may be thankful.

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ

And on the Day when He shall call unto them and say: Where are My partners whom ye pretended?

The day He will call out to them and say, [Where are My [partners] that you used to claim?]

God will call the unbelievers on the Day of Judgment and ask them, [Where are your idols in which you had faith?

And on the day when He shall call them and say: Where are those whom you deemed to be My associates?

اور قیامت کے دن خدا انہیں آواز دے گا کہ میرے وہ شریک کہاں ہیں جن کی شرکت کا تمہیں خیال تھا

(یاد رکھیں یہ لوگ) وہ دن جبکہ وہ انہیں پکارے گا پھر پوچھے گا ——کہاں ہیں میرے وہ شریک جن کا تم گمان رکھتے تھے؟——

اور جس دن انہیں ندا کرتے گا تو فرمائے گا، کہاں ہیں؟ میرے وہ شریک جو تم بکتے تھے،

وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ شَهِيدًۭا فَقُلْنَا هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلْحَقَّ لِلَّهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ

And We shall take out from every nation a witness and We shall say: Bring your proof. Then they will know that Allah hath the Truth, and all that they invented will have failed them.

⦿

We shall draw from every nation a witness and say, [Produce your evidence.] Then they will know that all reality belongs to Allah and what they used to fabricate will forsake them.

⦿

We shall call from every nation a witness and shall ask them to bring proof (in support of their belief). They will know that truth belongs to God and that whatever they had falsely invented has abandoned them.

And We will draw forth from among every nation a witness and say: Bring your proof; then shall they know that the truth is Allah's, and that which they forged shall depart from them.

And We shall bring forth from every people a witness and We shall say to them: [Bring your proof.] Then they will know that truth belongs to God alone, and that which they used to invent will fall away from them.

اور ہم ہر قوم میں سے ایک گواہ نکال کر لائیں گے اور منکرین سے کہیں گے کہ تم بھی اپنی دلیل لے آؤ تب انہیں معلوم ہوگا کہ حق اللہ ہی کے لئے ہے اور پھر وہ جو افترا پردازیاں کیا کرتے تھے وہ سب گم ہوجائیں گی

اور ہم ہر امّت میں سے ایک گواہ نکال لائیں گے پھر کہیں گے کہ ——لاؤ اب اپنی دلیل—— اس وقت انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ حق اللہ کی طرف سے ہے، اور گم ہو جائیں گے ان کے وہ سارے جھوٹ جو انہوں نے گھڑ رکھے تھے

اور ہر گروہ میں سے ایک گواہ نکال کر فرمائیں گے اپنی دلیل لاؤ تو جان لیں گے کہ حق اللہ کا ہے اور ان سے کھوئی جائیں گی جو بناوٹیں کرتے تھے

إِنَّ قَٰرُونَ كَانَ مِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ فَبَغَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْكُنُوزِ مَآ إِنَّ مَفَاتِحَهُۥ لَتَنُوٓأُ بِٱلْعُصْبَةِ أُو۟لِى ٱلْقُوَّةِ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ لَا تَفْرَحْ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْفَرِحِينَ

⦿

Now Korah was of Moses' folk, but he oppressed them; and We gave him so much treasure that the stores thereof would verily have been a burden for a troop of mighty men. When his own folk said unto him: Exult not; lo! Allah loveth not the exultant;

Korah indeed belonged to the people of Moses, but he bullied them. We had given him so much treasures that their chests indeed proved heavy for a band of stalwarts. When his people said to him, [Do not boast! Indeed Allah does not like the boasters.

Korah was a man from the people of Moses. This man rebelled against them. We had given him so much treasure that the keys of the stores of his treasures could hardly even be carried by a group of strong people. His people told him, [Do not be proud of your wealth; God does not love those who are proudly happy of their wealth.

Surely Qaroun was of the people of Musa, but he rebelled against them, and We had given him of the treasures, so much so that his hoards of wealth would certainly weigh down a company of men possessed of great strength. When his people said to him: Do not exult, surely Allah does not love the exultant;

Korah was one of Moses' people, but he behaved arrogantly towards them. We had given him such treasures that their very keys would have weighed down a band of strong men. His people said to him, [Do not exult in your riches, for God does not love the exultant.

بیشک قارون موسٰی کی قوم میں سے تھا مگر اس نے قوم پر ظلم کیا اور ہم نے بھی اسے اتنے خزانے دے دیئے تھے کہ ایک طاقت ور جماعت سے بھی اس کی کنجیاں نہیں اٹھ سکتی تھیں پھر جب اس سے قوم نے کہا کہ اس قدر نہ اتراؤ کہ خدا اترانے والوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا ہے

یہ ایک واقعہ ہے کہ قارون موسیٰؑ کی قوم کا ایک شخص تھا، پھر وہ اپنی قوم کے خلاف سرکش ہو گیا اور ہم نے اس کو اتنے خزانے دے رکھے تھے کہ ان کی کنجیاں طاقت ور آدمیوں کی ایک جماعت مشکل سے اُٹھا سکتی تھی ایک دفعہ جب اس کی قوم کے لوگوں نے اُس سے کہا ——پھول نہ جا، اللہ پھولنے والوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا

بیشک قارون موسیٰ کی قوم سے تھا پھر اس نے ان پر زیادتی کی اور ہم نے اس کو اتنے خزانے دیے جن کی کنجیاں ایک زور آور جماعت پر بھاری تھیں، جب اس سے اس کی قوم نے کہا اِترا نہیں بیشک اللہ اِترانے والوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا،

بےشک قارون موسیٰ کی قوم میں سے تھا پھر وہ ان کے خلاف سرکش ہوگیا۔ اور ہم نے اسے اتنے خزانے عطا کئے تھے کہ اس کی چابیاں ایک طاقتور جماعت کو بھی گرانبار کر دیتی تھیں (اس سے مشکل سے اٹھتی تھیں) جبکہ اس کی قوم نے اس سے کہا کہ (اپنی منزلت پر) مت اترا بےشک اللہ اترانے والوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا۔

وَٱبْتَغِ فِيمَآ ءَاتَىٰكَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلدَّارَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ۖ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَأَحْسِن كَمَآ أَحْسَنَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَلَا تَبْغِ ٱلْفَسَادَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

⦿

But seek the abode of the Hereafter in that which Allah hath given thee and neglect not thy portion of the world, and be thou kind even as Allah hath been kind to thee, and seek not corruption in the earth; lo! Allah loveth not corrupters,

⦿

Seek the abode of the Hereafter by means of what Allah has given you, while not forgetting your share of this world. Be good [to others] just as Allah has been good to you, and do not try to cause corruption in the land. Indeed Allah does not like the agents of corruption.]

⦿

Seek the gains of the life to come through your wealth without ignoring your share of this life. Do favors to others just as God has done favors to you. Do not commit evil in the land for God does not love the evil-doers.]

⦿

And seek by means of what Allah has given you the future abode, and do not neglect your portion of this world, and do good (to others) as Allah has done good to you, and do not seek to make mischief in the land, surely Allah does not love the mischief-makers.

But seek the Home of the Hereafter by means of that which God has bestowed on you; do not forget to take your portion [of the Hereafter] in this world.] Be good to others as God has been good to you and do not strive for evil in the land, for God does not love the evil-doers.]

اور جو کچھ خدا نے دیا ہے اس سے آخرت کے گھر کا انتظام کرو اور دنیا میں اپنا حصّہ بھول نہ جاؤ اور نیکی کرو جس طرح کہ خدا نے تمہارے ساتھ نیک برتاؤ کیا ہے اور زمین میں فساد کی کوشش نہ کرو کہ اللہ فساد کرنے والوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا ہے

⦿

جو مال اللہ نے تجھے دیا ہے اس سے آخرت کا گھر بنانے کی فکر کر اور دُنیا میں سے بھی اپنا حصہ فراموش نہ کر احسان کر جس طرح اللہ نے تیرے ساتھ احسان کیا ہے اور زمین میں فساد برپا کرنے کی کوشش نہ کر، اللہ مفسدوں کو پسند نہیں کرتا——

اور جو مال تجھے اللہ نے دیا ہے اس سے آخرت کا گھر طلب کر اور دنیا میں اپنا حصہ نہ بھول اور احسان کر جیسا اللہ نے تجھ پر احسان کیا اور زمیں میں فساد نہ چاه بے شک اللہ فسادیوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا،

اور اللہ نے تجھے جو کچھ (مال و زر) دیا ہے۔ اس سے آخرت کے گھر کی جستجو کر اور دنیا سے بھی اپنا حصہ فراموش نہ کر۔ اور جس طرح اللہ نے تیرے ساتھ احسان کیا ہے تو بھی اسی طرح (اس کے بندوں کے ساتھ) احسان کر۔ اور زمین میں فساد برپا کرنے کی خواہش نہ کر یقیناً اللہ فساد برپا کرنے والوں کو دوست نہیں رکھتا۔

قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أُوتِيتُهُۥ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِىٓ ۚ أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةًۭ وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعًۭا ۚ وَلَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ

He said: I have been given it only on account of knowledge I possess. Knew he not that Allah had destroyed already of the generations before him men who were mightier than him in strength and greater in respect of following? The guilty are not questioned of their sins.

He said, [I have indeed been given [all] this because of the knowledge that I have.] Did he not know that Allah had already destroyed before him some of the generations who were more powerful than him and greater in amassing [wealth]? The guilty will not be questioned about their sins.

He said, [I have received this wealth because of my knowledge.] Did he not know that God had destroyed many generations that lived before him who were stronger than him in power and people? (There will be no need) to ask the criminals what sins they have committed, (for the angels already know them)

قارون نے کہا کہ مجھے یہ سب کچھ میرے علم کی بنا پر دیا گیا ہے تو کیا اسے یہ معلوم نہیں ہے کہ اللہ نے اس سے پہلے بہت سی نسلوں کو ہلاک کردیا ہے جو اس سے زیادہ طاقتور اور مال کے اعتبار سے دولت مند تھیں اور ایسے مجرموں سے تو ان کے گناہوں کے بارے میں سوال بھی نہیں کیا جاتا ہے

تو اُس نے کہا ——یہ سب کچھ تو مجھے اُس علم کی بنا پر دیا گیا ہے جو مجھ کو حاصل ہے—— کیا اس کو علم نہ تھا کہ اللہ اس سے پہلے بہت سے ایسے لوگوں کو ہلاک کر چکا ہے جو اس سے زیادہ قوت اور جمعیت رکھتے تھے؟ مجرموں سے تو ان کے گناہ نہیں پوچھے جاتے

بو لا یہ تو مجھے ایک علم سے ملا ہے جو میرے پاس ہے اور کیا اسے یہ نہیں معلوم کہ اللہ نے اس سے پہلے وہ سنگتیں (قومیں) ہلاک فرمادیں جن کی قوتیں اس سے سخت تھیں اور جمع اس سے زیادہ اور مجرموں سے ان کے گناہوں کی پوچھ نہیں

قارون نے کہا کہ مجھے جو کچھ (مال و منال) ملا ہے وہ اس (خاص) علم کی بدولت ملا ہے جو میرے پاس ہے کیا وہ یہ نہیں جانتا کہ اللہ نے اس سے پہلے بہت سی ایسی نسلوں کو ہلاک کر دیا ہے جو قوت میں اس سے سخت تر اور جمعیت میں زیادہ تھیں اور مجرموں سے ان کے گناہوں کے بارے میں سوال نہیں کرنا پڑتا۔

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فِى زِينَتِهِۦ ۖ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا يَٰلَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ قَٰرُونُ إِنَّهُۥ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٍۢ

Then went he forth before his people in his pomp. Those who were desirous of the life of the world said: Ah, would that we had the like of what hath been given unto Korah! Lo! he is lord of rare good fortune.

So he emerged before his people in his finery. Those who desired the life of the world said, [We wish we had like what Korah has been given! Indeed he is greatly fortunate.]

Korah would bedeck himself to show off his wealth. Those who wanted worldly gains would say, [Would that we were given that which Korah has received. He has certainly received a great share.]

So he went forth to his people in his finery. Those who desire this world's life said: O would that we had the like of what Qaroun is given; most surely he is possessed of mighty good fortune.

پھر قارون اپنی قوم کے سامنے زیب و زینت کے ساتھ برآمد ہوا تو جن لوگوں کے دل میں زندگانی دنیا کی خواہش تھی انہوںنے کہنا شروع کردیا کہ کاش ہمارے پاس بھی یہ ساز و سامان ہوتا جو قارون کو دیا گیا ہے یہ تو بڑے عظیم حصہ ّ کا مالک ہے

ایک روز وہ اپنی قوم کے سامنے اپنے پُورے ٹھاٹھ میں نکلا جو لوگ حیات دنیا کے طالب تھے وہ اسے دیکھ کر کہنے لگے ——کاش ہمیں بھی وہی کچھ ملتا جو قارون کو دیا گیا ہے، یہ تو بڑا نصیبے والا ہے——

تو اپنی قومی پر نکلا اپنی آرائش میں بولے وہ جو دنیا کی زندگی چاہتے ہیں کسی طرح ہم کو بھی ایسا ملتا جیسا قارون کو ملا بیشک اس کا بڑا نصیب ہے،

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌۭ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا وَلَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ

But those who had been given knowledge said: Woe unto you! The reward of Allah for him who believeth and doeth right is better, and only the steadfast will obtain it.

Those who were given knowledge said [to them], [Woe to you! Allah]s reward is better for someone who has faith and acts righteously, and no one will receive it except the patient.]

The people who had received knowledge would tell them, [Woe to you! The reward of God is far better for the righteously striving believers. No one can receive such reward except those who exercise patience.]

And those who were given the knowledge said: Woe to you! Allah's reward is better for him who believes and does good, and none is made to receive this except the patient.

اور جنہیں علم دیا گیا تھا انہوں نے کہا کہ افسوس تمہارے حال پر - اللرُ کا ثواب صاحبان هایمان و عمل صالح کے لئے اس سے کہیں زیادہ بہتر ہے اور وہ ثواب صبر کرنے والوں کے علاوہ کسی کو نہیں دیا جاتا ہے

مگر جو لوگ علم رکھنے والے تھے وہ کہنے لگے ——افسوس تمہارے حال پر، اللہ کا ثواب بہتر ہے اُس شخص کے لیے جو ایمان لائے اور نیک عمل کرے، اور یہ دولت نہیں ملتی مگر صبر کرنے والوں کو——

اور بولے وہ جنہیں علم دیا گیا خرابی ہو تمہاری، اللہ کا ثواب بہتر ہے اس کے لیے جو ایمان لائے اور اچھے کام کرے اور یہ انہیں کو ملتا ہے جو صبر والے ہیں

فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِۦ وَبِدَارِهِ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَمَا كَانَ لَهُۥ مِن فِئَةٍۢ يَنصُرُونَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَ

So We caused the earth to swallow him and his dwelling-place. Then he had no host to help him against Allah, nor was he of those who can save themselves.

وَأَصْبَحَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوْا۟ مَكَانَهُۥ بِٱلْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ ۖ لَوْلَآ أَن مَّنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا ۖ وَيْكَأَنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

And morning found those who had coveted his place but yesterday crying: Ah, welladay! Allah enlargeth the provision for whom He will of His slaves and straiteneth it (for whom He will). If Allah had not been gracious unto us He would have caused it to swallow us (also). Ah, welladay! the disbelievers never prosper.

By dawn those who longed to be in his place the day before were saying, [Don]t you see that Allah expands the provision for whomever He wishes of His servants, and tightens it? Had Allah not shown us favour, He might have made the earth swallow us too. Don]t you see that the faithless do not prosper?]

⦿

The people who the other day had wished to be like him, began saying, [Woe to us! God gives abundant wealth only to those of His servants whom He wants and He determines everyone's share. Had it not been for God's favor to us, He would have caused the earth to swallow us up. Woe to the unbelievers who will have no happiness.]

And those who yearned for his place only the day before began to say: Ah! (know) that Allah amplifies and straitens the means of subsistence for whom He pleases of His servants; had not Allah been gracious to us, He would most surely have abased us; ah! (know) that the ungrateful are never successful.

Those who had coveted his position the day before now began to say, [Ah! It is indeed God alone who gives abundantly to whom He will and sparingly to whom He pleases. Had not God been gracious to us, He would have caused us to be swallowed up also.] Alas indeed! Those who deny the truth will never prosper.

اور جن لوگوں نے کل اس کی جگہ کی تمناّ کی تھی وہ کہنے لگے کہ معاذ اللہ یہ تو خدا جس بندے کے لئے چاہتا ہے اس کے رزق میں وسعت پیدا کردیتا ہے اور جس کے یہاں چاہتا ہے تنگی پیدا کردیتا ہے اور اگر اس نے ہم پر احسان نہ کردیا ہوتا تو ہمیں بھی دھنسا دیا ہوتا معاذاللرُ کافروں کے لئے واقعا فلاح نہیں ہے

اب وہی لوگ جو کل اس کی منزلت کی تمنا کر رہے تھے کہنے لگے ——افسوس، ہم بھول گئے تھے کہ اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کا رزق چاہتا ہے کشادہ کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے نَپا تلا دیتا ہے اگر اللہ نے ہم پر احسان نہ کیا ہوتا تو ہمیں بھی زمین میں دَھنسا دیتا افسوس ہم کو یاد نہ رہا کہ کافر فلاح نہیں پایا کرتے——

اور کل جس نے اس کے مرتبہ کی آرزو کی تھی صبح کہنے لگے عجب بات ہے اللہ رزق وسیع کرتا ہے اپنے بندوں میں جس کے لیے چاہے اور تنگی فرماتا ہے اگر اللہ ہم پر احسان فرماتا تو ہمیں بھی دھنسادیتا، اے عجب، کافروں کا بھلا نہیں،

اور وہ لوگ جو کل اس کے جاہ و مرتبہ کی تمنا کر رہے تھے اب کہنے لگے افسوس (اب پتہ چلا) کہ اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کا رزق چاہتا ہے کشادہ کر دیتا ہے اور جس کا چاہتا ہے تنگ کر دیتا ہے۔ اگر اللہ ہم پر (تنگدست بنا کر) احسان نہ کرتا تو ہمیں بھی زمین میں دھنسا دیتا اور کافر کبھی فلاح نہیں پاتے۔

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.

Due Credits:

This website was possible by help of many people and forums who helped me to learn Arabic, Philosophy, Law, Psychology, and PHP and other Web scripts. To be honest, I do not even know the names of many but I did learn from them. Some of these people were already dead by the time I read their input.

The Arabic text of the Quran was obtained from Tanzil. The additional translations were also obtained from Tanzil from this link.
