وَيَعْبُدُونَ
And they obey
مِن
from
دُونِ
inferior to
ٱللَّهِ
the One,
مَا
that which
لَمْ
not was
يُنَزِّلْ
established
بِهِۦ
regarding it
سُلْطَٰنًۭا
any authority,
وَمَا
and that which
لَيْسَ
not there is
لَهُم
for them
بِهِۦ
about it
عِلْمٌۭ
any knowledge;
ۗ
وَمَا
and not is
لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
for the ones in darkness
مِن
of
نَّصِيرٍۢ
a helper.
٢٢
٧١
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَٰنًۭا وَمَا لَيْسَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۭ ۗ وَمَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِن نَّصِيرٍۢ And they obey from inferior to the One, that which not was established regarding it any authority, and that which not there is for them about it any knowledge; and not is for the ones in darkness of a helper.

And they worship instead of Allah that for which He hath sent down no warrant, and that whereof they have no knowledge. For evil-doers there is no helper. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

They worship besides Allah that for which He has not sent down any authority, and of which they have no knowledge. The wrongdoers will have no helper. - Qarai, Ali Quli

And whenever
تُتْلَىٰ
you read
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
ءَايَٰتُنَا
Our signs
بَيِّنَٰتٍۢ
of clarifications,
تَعْرِفُ
you will see
فِى
in
وُجُوهِ
faces of
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
كَفَرُوا۟
are in denial
ٱلْمُنكَرَ
the renouncement thereof;
ۖ
يَكَادُونَ
they yearn to
يَسْطُونَ
attack
بِٱلَّذِينَ
regarding the ones who
يَتْلُونَ
read
عَلَيْهِمْ
upon them
ءَايَٰتِنَا
Our signs.
ۗ
قُلْ
Say,
أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُم
[Shall I inform you of
بِشَرٍّۢ
good news
مِّن
from
ذَٰلِكُمُ
that for you?
ۗ
ٱلنَّارُ
The fire
وَعَدَهَا
which is promise of
ٱللَّهُ
the One to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
كَفَرُوا۟
are in denial;
ۖ
وَبِئْسَ
and miserable is
ٱلْمَصِيرُ
the destination.]
٢٢
٧٢
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٍۢ تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلْمُنكَرَ ۖ يَكَادُونَ يَسْطُونَ بِٱلَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا ۗ قُلْ أَفَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّۢ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمُ ۗ ٱلنَّارُ وَعَدَهَا ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ And whenever you read upon them Our signs of clarifications, you will see in faces of the ones who are in denial the renouncement thereof; they yearn to attack regarding the ones who read upon them Our signs. Say, [Shall I inform you of good news from that for you? The fire which is promise of the One to those who are in denial; and miserable is the destination.]

And when Our revelations are recited unto them, thou knowest the denial in the faces of those who disbelieve; they all but attack those who recite Our revelations unto them. Say: Shall I proclaim unto you worse than that? The Fire! Allah hath promised it for those who disbelieve. A hapless journey's end! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

When Our manifest signs are recited to them, you perceive denial on the faces of the faithless: they would almost pounce upon those who recite Our signs to them. Say, [Shall I inform you about something worse than that? The Fire which Allah has promised the faithless, and it is an evil destination.] - Qarai, Ali Quli

When Our authoritative revelations are recited to the unbelievers, you can clearly read the dislike on their faces. They almost attack those who read Our revelations to them. Say to them, [Should I tell you about what is the worst thing for you than these revelations? It is the fire which God has prepared for the unbelievers. And when Our clear communications are recited to them you will find denial on the faces of those who disbelieve; they almost spring upon those who recite to them Our communications. Say: Shall I inform you of what is worse than this? The fire; Allah has promised it to those who disbelieve; and how evil the resort! - Shakir, Habib

Whenever Our clear revelations are recited to them, you will recognize the disgust on the faces of those who deny the truth. It is almost as if they are going to attack those who recite Our message to them. Say, [Shall I tell you of something worse than this? اور جب ان کے سامنے ہماری واضح آیتیں پڑھ کر سنائی جاتی ہیں تو تم دیکھتے ہو کہ کفر اختیار کرنے والوں کے چہرہ پر ناگواری کے آثار ظاہر ہوجاتے ہیں اور قریب ہوتا ہے کہ وہ ان تلاوت کرنے والوں پر حملہ کربیٹھیں تو کہہ دیجئے کہ میں اس سے بدتر بات کے بارے میں بتلا رہا ہوں اور وہ جہنمّ ہے جس کا خدا نے کافروں سے وعدہ کیا ہے اور وہ بہت برا انجام ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور جب ان کو ہماری صاف صاف آیات سنائی جاتی ہیں تو تم دیکھتے ہو کہ منکرین حق کے چہرے بگڑنے لگتے ہیں اور ایسا محسُوس ہوتا ہے کہ ابھی وہ اُن لوگوں پر ٹوٹ پڑیں گے جو انہیں ہماری آیات سناتے ہیں ان سے کہو ——میں بتاؤں تمہیں کہ اس سے بدتر چیز کیا ہے؟ آگ، اللہ نے اُسی کا وعدہ اُن لوگوں کے حق میں کر رکھا ہے جو قبول حق سے انکار کریں، اور وہ بہت ہی برا ٹھکانہ ہے—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور جب ان پر ہماری روشن آیتیں پڑھی جائیں تو تم ان کے چہروں پر بگڑنے کے آثار دیکھو گے جنہوں نے کفر کیا، قریب ہے کہ لپٹ پڑیں ان کو جو ہماری آیتیں ان پر پڑھتے ہیں، تم فرمادو کیا میں تمہیں بتادوں جو تمہارے اس حال سے بھی بدتر ہے وہ آگ ہے، اللہ نے اس کا وعدہ دیا ہے کافروں کو، اور کیا ہی بری پلٹنے کی جگہ، - Ahmed Raza

O mankind! A similitude is coined, so pay ye heed to it: Lo! those on whom ye call beside Allah will never create a fly though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly took something from them, they could not rescue it from it. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

O people! Listen to a parable that is being drawn: Indeed those whom you invoke besides Allah will never create [even] a fly even if they all rallied to do so! And if a fly should take away something from them, they can not recover that from it. Feeble is the seeker and the sought! - Qarai, Ali Quli

People, listen to this parable: Those whom you worship instead of God do not have the power to create even a fly, even though all of them would come together for the task. If the fly was to snatch something from them they would not be able to rescue it from the fly. How feeble are such worshippers and that which they worship. - Sarwar, Muhammad

O people! a parable is set forth, therefore listen to it: surely those whom you call upon besides Allah cannot create fly, though they should all gather for it, and should the fly snatch away anything from them, they could not take it back from it; weak are the invoker and the invoked. - Shakir, Habib

People, here is an illustration. So listen carefully. Surely, those whom you invoke other than God cannot create even a fly, even if they were all to combine together to do it, and if a fly should snatch anything away from them, they cannot recover it from it. The One

رُسُلًۭا
— messengers —
وَمِنَ
and from
ٱلنَّاسِ
the people (as well);
ۚ
إِنَّ
indeed
ٱللَّهَ
the One is
سَمِيعٌۢ
hearing,
بَصِيرٌۭ
watchful.

ٱللَّهُ يَصْطَفِى مِنَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ رُسُلًۭا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَمِيعٌۢ بَصِيرٌۭ The One chooses from the malaikati — messengers — and from the people (as well); indeed the One is hearing, watchful.

Allah chooseth from the angels messengers, and (also) from mankind. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Seer. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

and towards
ٱللَّهِ
the One
تُرْجَعُ
is return of
ٱلْأُمُورُ
all the affairs.
He knows what is between their hands, and what is behind them; and towards the One is return of all the affairs.

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
O you of
ٱلَّذِينَ
the ones who
ءَامَنُوا۟
are convinced!
ٱرْكَعُوا۟
Accept as authority,
وَٱسْجُدُوا۟
and be executers of service,
وَٱعْبُدُوا۟
and obey
رَبَّكُمْ
your Rabb,
وَٱفْعَلُوا۟
and be doing
ٱلْخَيْرَ
the good-works
لَعَلَّكُمْ
so that you may
تُفْلِحُونَ
become successful.

٧٧
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ وَٱسْجُدُوا۟ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ وَٱفْعَلُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ۩ O you of the ones who are convinced! Accept as authority, and be executers of service, and obey your Rabb, and be doing the good-works so that you may become successful.

O ye who believe! Bow down and prostrate yourselves, and worship your Lord, and do good, that haply ye may prosper. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Believers, worship your Lord, bow down and prostrate yourselves before Him and do virtuous deeds so that perhaps you will have everlasting happiness. - Sarwar, Muhammad

ایمان والو ! رکوع کروً سجدہ کرو اور اپنے رب کی عبادت کرو اور کارخیر انجام دو کہ شاید اسی طرح کامیاب ہوجاؤ اور نجات حاصل کرلو - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اے لوگو جو ایمان لائے ہو، رکوع اور سجدہ کرو، اپنے رب کی بندگی کرو، اور نیک کام کرو، شاید کہ تم کو فلاح نصیب ہو - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اے ایمان والو! رکوع اور سجدہ کرو اور اپنے رب کی بندگی کرو اور بھلے کام کرو اس امید پر کہ تمہیں چھٹکارا ہو، (السجدة) عندالشافعیؒ، - Ahmed Raza

وَجَٰهِدُوا۟
And strive
فِى
in (way of)
ٱللَّهِ
the One
حَقَّ
as is right of
جِهَادِهِۦ
striving for Him;
ۚ
هُوَ
He has
ٱجْتَبَىٰكُمْ
selected you all
وَمَا
and not
جَعَلَ
has placed
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you
فِى
in
ٱلدِّينِ
the governance system
مِنْ
of
حَرَجٍۢ
a difficulty;
ۚ
مِّلَّةَ
creed of
أَبِيكُمْ
your father
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Ibrahim;
ۚ
هُوَ
He has
سَمَّىٰكُمُ
characterized you all as
ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
the submitters
مِن
from
قَبْلُ
before,
وَفِى
and in
هَٰذَا
this,
لِيَكُونَ
so that is
ٱلرَّسُولُ
the messenger
شَهِيدًا
a witness
عَلَيْكُمْ
upon you,
وَتَكُونُوا۟
and you are
شُهَدَآءَ
witnesses
عَلَى
upon
ٱلنَّاسِ
the populace;
ۚ
فَأَقِيمُوا۟
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the discipline
وَءَاتُوا۟
and produce
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
the emancipation
وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟
and hold on tightly
بِٱللَّهِ
about the One
هُوَ
Him being
مَوْلَىٰكُمْ
your Protector;
ۖ
فَنِعْمَ
thus best is
ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ
the Protector,
وَنِعْمَ
and best is
ٱلنَّصِيرُ
the Helper.
٢٢
٧٨
وَجَٰهِدُوا۟ فِى ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِۦ ۚ هُوَ ٱجْتَبَىٰكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍۢ ۚ مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ هُوَ سَمَّىٰكُمُ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ مِن قَبْلُ وَفِى هَٰذَا لِيَكُونَ ٱلرَّسُولُ شَهِيدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ شُهَدَآءَ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ ۚ فَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱعْتَصِمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ هُوَ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۖ فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ And strive in (way of) the One as is right of striving for Him; He has selected you all and not has placed upon you in the governance system of a difficulty; creed of your father Ibrahim; He has characterized you all as the submitters from before, and in this, so that is the messenger a witness upon you, and you are witnesses upon the populace; and establish the discipline and produce the emancipation and hold on tightly about the One Him being your Protector; thus best is the Protector, and best is the Helper.

And strive for Allah with the endeavour which is His right. He hath chosen you and hath not laid upon you in religion any hardship; the faith of your father Abraham (is yours). He hath named you Muslims of old time and in this (Scripture), that the messenger may be a witness against you, and that ye may be witnesses against mankind. So establish worship, pay the poor-due, and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protecting friend. A blessed Patron and a blessed Helper! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And wage jihad for the sake of Allah, a jihad which is worthy of Him. He has chosen you and has not placed for you any obstacle in the religion, the faith of your father, Abraham. He named you [Muslims] before, and in this, so that the Apostle may be a witness to you, and that you may be witnesses to mankind. So maintain the prayer, give the zakat, and hold fast to Allah. He is your master—an excellent master and an excellent helper. - Qarai, Ali Quli

Strive steadfastly for the Cause of God. He has chosen you but has not imposed on you hardship in your religion, the noble religion of your father, Abraham. God named you Muslims before and in this Book, so that the Messenger will witness (your actions) and will be the witness over mankind. Be steadfast in your prayer, pay the religious tax, and seek protection from God; He is your Guardian, a gracious Guardian and Helper. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And strive hard in (the way of) Allah, (such) a striving as is due to Him; He has chosen you and has not laid upon you an hardship in religion; the faith of your father Ibrahim; He named you Muslims before and in this, that the Apostle may be a bearer of witness to you, and you may be bearers of witness to the people; therefore keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and hold fast by Allah; He is your Guardian; how excellent the Guardian and how excellent the Helper! - Shakir, Habib

Strive for the cause of God as it behoves you to strive for it. He has chosen you and laid on you no burden in the matter of your religion, the faith of Abraham your forefather. In this, as in former scriptures He has given you the name of Muslims, so that the Messenger may be a witness over you, and so that you may be witnesses over mankind. Therefore, say your prayers regularly and pay the zakat and hold fast to God. He is your master. An excellent master and an excellent helper! - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اللہ کے بارے میں اس طرح جہاد کرو جو جہاد کرنے کا حق ہے کہ اس نے تمہیں منتخب کیا ہے اور دین میں کوئی زحمت نہیں قرار دی ہے یہی تمہارے بابا ابراہیم علیھ السّلام کا دین ہے اس نے تمہارا نام پہلے بھی اور اس قرآن میں بھی مسلم اور اطاعت گزار رکھا ہے تاکہ رسول تمہارے اوپر گواہ رہے اور تم لوگوں کے اعمال کے گواہ رہو لہذا اب تم نماز قائم کرو زکوِٰ اداکرو اور اللہ سے باقاعدہ طور پر وابستہ ہوجاؤ کہ وہی تمہارا مولا ہے اور وہی بہترین مولا اور بہترین مددگار ہے - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرو جیسا کہ جہاد کرنے کا حق ہے اُس نے تمہیں اپنے کام کے لیے چن لیا ہے اور دین میں تم پر کوئی تنگی نہیں رکھی قائم ہو جاؤ اپنے باپ ابراہیمؑ کی ملت پر اللہ نے پہلے بھی تمہارا نام ——مسلم—— رکھا تھا اور اِس (قرآن) میں بھی (تمہارا یہی نام ہے) تاکہ رسول تم پر گواہ ہو اور تم لوگوں پر گواہ پس نماز قائم کرو، زکوٰۃ دو اور اللہ سے وابستہ ہو جاؤ وہ ہے تمہارا مولیٰ، بہت ہی اچھا ہے وہ مولیٰ اور بہت ہی اچھا ہے وہ مددگار - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرو جیسا حق ہے جہاد کرنے کا اس نے تمہیں پسند کیا اور تم پر دین میں کچھ تنگی نہ رکھی تمہارے باپ ابراہیم کا دین اللہ نے تمہارا نام مسلمان رکھا ہے اگلی کتابوں میں اور اس قرآن میں تاکہ رسول تمہارا نگہبان و گواہ ہو اور تم اور لوگوں پر گواہی دو تو نماز برپا رکھو اور زکوٰة دو اور اللہ کی رسی مضبوط تھام لو وہ تمہارا مولیٰ ہے تو کیا ہی اچھا مولیٰ اور کیا ہی اچھا مددگار، - Ahmed Raza

اور اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرو۔ جیساکہ جہاد کرنے کا حق ہے اس نے تمہیں منتخب کیا ہے۔ اور دین کے معاملہ میں اس نے تمہارے لئے کوئی تنگی روا نہیں رکھی۔ اپنے باپ (مورث اعلیٰ) ابراہیم (ع) کی ملت کی پیروی کرو۔ اسی (اللہ) نے اس سے پہلے بھی تمہارا نام مسلمان رکھا اور اس (قرآن) میں بھی تاکہ پیغمبر تم پر گواہ ہوں۔ اور تم لوگوں پر گواہ ہو۔ پس تم نماز قائم کرو۔ اور زکوٰۃ دو اور اللہ سے وابستہ ہو جاؤ۔ وہی تمہارا مولا ہے سو کیسا اچھا مولا ہے اور کیسا اچھا مددگار ہے۔ - Najafi, Muhammad
