The Defence [ 22:30 ] الحج

ذَٰلِكَ

وَمَن

يُعَظِّمْ

حُرُمَٰتِ

ٱللَّهِ

فَهُوَ

خَيْرٌۭ

لَّهُۥ

عِندَ

رَبِّهِۦ

وَأُحِلَّتْ

لَكُمُ

ٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ

عَلَيْكُمْ

فَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟

ٱلرِّجْسَ

مِنَ

وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟

ٱلزُّورِ

٣٠

ذَٰلِكَ وَمَن يُعَظِّمْ حُرُمَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ ۗ وَأُحِلَّتْ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلرِّجْسَ مِنَ ٱلْأَوْثَٰنِ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ قَوْلَ ٱلزُّورِ

⦿

That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the sacred things of Allah, it will be well for him in the sight of his Lord. The cattle are lawful unto you save that which hath been told you. So shun the filth of idols, and shun lying speech,

That, and whoever venerates the sacraments of Allah, that is better for him with his Lord. You are permitted [animals of] grazing livestock except for what will be recited to you. So avoid the abomination of idols, and avoid false speech,

⦿

Such are the regulations of hajj. To respect the prohibitions of God is a virtuous deed in the sight of one's Lord. Consuming the flesh of certain animals is made lawful for you. Stay away from wickedness, idols, and false words.

That (shall be so); and whoever respects the sacred ordinances of Allah, it is better for him with his Lord; and the cattle are made lawful for you, except that which is recited to you, therefore avoid the uncleanness of the idols and avoid false words,

Such is God's commandment. Whoever honours that which is declared sacred by God may be sure that it counts for good in the sight of his Lord. Livestock is lawful for you, except that which has already been explicitly forbidden. Then shun the abomination of the deities and shun all falsehood.

یہ ایک حکم خدا ہے اور جو شخص بھی خدا کی محترم چیزوں کی تعظیم کرے گا وہ اس کے حق میں پیش پروردگار بہتری کا سبب ہوگی اور تمہارے لئے تمام جانور حلال کردیئے گئے ہیں علاوہ ان کے جن کے بارے میں تم سے بیان کیا جائے گا لہذا تم ناپاک بتوں سے پرہیز کرتے رہو اور لغو اور مہمل باتوں سے اجتناب کرتے رہو

یہ تھا (تعمیر کعبہ کا مقصد) اور جو کوئی اللہ کی قائم کردہ حرمتوں کا احترام کرے تو یہ اس کے رب کے نزدیک خود اسی کے لیے بہتر ہے اور تمہارے لیے مویشی جانور حلال کیے گئے، ما سوا اُن چیزوں کے جو تمہیں بتائی جا چکی ہیں پس بتوں کی گندگی سے بچو، جھوٹی باتوں سے پرہیز کرو

⦿

بات یہ ہے اور جو اللہ کی حرمتوں کی تعظیم کرے تو وہ اس کے لیے اس کے رب کے یہاں بھلا ہے، اور تمہارے لیے حلال کیے گئے بے زبان چوپائے سوا ان کے جن کی ممانعت تم پر پڑھی جاتی ہے تو دور ہو بتوں کی گندگی سے اور بچو جھوٹی بات سے،

یہ ہے حج اور اس کے مناسک کی بات! جو اللہ کی محترم چیزوں کی تعظیم کرتا ہے۔ تو یہ اس کے پروردگار کے ہاں بہتر ہے اور تمہارے لئے چوپائے حلال ہیں۔ بجز ان کے جو تم سے بیان کئے جاتے رہتے ہیں۔ پس تم بتوں کی گندگی سے پرہیز کرو۔ اور راگ گانے کی مجلس سے اجتناب کرو۔

حُنَفَآءَ لِلَّهِ غَيْرَ مُشْرِكِينَ بِهِۦ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَكَأَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَخْطَفُهُ ٱلطَّيْرُ أَوْ تَهْوِى بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِى مَكَانٍۢ سَحِيقٍۢ

⦿

Turning unto Allah (only), not ascribing partners unto Him; for whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky and the birds had snatched him or the wind had blown him to a far-off place.

as persons having pure faith in Allah, not ascribing partners to Him. Whoever ascribes partners to Allah is as though he had fallen from a height, then [his corpse] is devoured by vultures, or [his remains are] blown away by the wind far and wide.

As the upright servants of God, do not consider anything equal to God. To consider things equal to God is like one falling from the sky who is snatched away by the birds or carried away by a strong wind to a far distant place.

Being upright for Allah, not associating aught with Him and whoever associates (others) with Allah, it is as though he had fallen from on high, then the birds snatch him away or the wind carries him off to a far-distant place.

Devote yourselves to God, not associating any partners with Him. Whoever associates anything with God is like one who falls from heaven and is snatched by the birds or carried away by the wind to a distant place.

اللہ کے لئے مخلص اور باطل سے کترا کر رہو اور کسی طرح کا شرک اختیار نہ کرو کہ جو کسی کو اس کا شریک بناتا ہے وہ گویا آسمان سے گر پڑتا ہے اور اسے پرندہ اچک لیتا ہے یا ہوا کسی دور دراز جگہ پر لے جاکر پھینک دیتی ہے

یکسُو ہو کر اللہ کے بندے بنو، اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ کرو اور جو کوئی اللہ کے ساتھ شرک کرے تو گویا وہ آسمان سے گر گیا، اب یا تو اسے پرندے اُچک لے جائیں گے یا ہوا اُس کو ایسی جگہ لے جا کر پھینک دے گی جہاں اُس کے چیتھڑے اڑ جائیں گے

⦿

ایک اللہ کے ہوکر کہ اس کا ساجھی کسی کو نہ کرو، اور جو اللہ کا شریک کرے وہ گویا گرا آسمان سے کہ پرندے اسے اچک لے جاتے ہیں یا ہوا اسے کسی دور جگہ پھینکتی ہے

صرف اللہ ہی کیلئے ہو کر رہو اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراتے ہوئے۔ اور جو کوئی اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک ٹھہراتا ہے تو گویا وہ آسمان سے گرا تو اسے کسی پرندہ نے اچک لیا یا ہوا نے اسے کسی دور دراز جگہ پر پھینک دیا۔

The Defence [ 22:32 ] الحج

ذَٰلِكَ

That

وَمَن

and whoever

يُعَظِّمْ

gives importance to

شَعَٰٓئِرَ

attributes of

ٱللَّهِ

the One,

فَإِنَّهَا

then it is

مِن

from

تَقْوَى

awareness of

ٱلْقُلُوبِ

the hearts.

٢٢

٣٢

ذَٰلِكَ وَمَن يُعَظِّمْ شَعَٰٓئِرَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقْوَى ٱلْقُلُوبِ

That and whoever gives importance to attributes of the One, then it is from awareness of the hearts.

That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the offerings consecrated to Allah, it surely is from devotion of the hearts,

That. And whoever venerates the sacraments of Allah—indeed that arises from the Godwariness of hearts.

To respect the symbols of God is the sign of a pious heart.

That (shall be so); and whoever respects the signs of Allah, this surely is (the outcome) of the piety of hearts.

Thus it is. He who honours the symbols set up by God shows the piety of his heart.

یہ ہمارا فیصلہ ہے اور جو بھی اللہ کی نشانیوں کی تعظیم کرے گا یہ تعظیم اس کے دل کے تقویٰ کا نتیجہ ہوگی

Therein are benefits for you for an appointed term; and afterward they are brought for sacrifice unto the ancient House.

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍۢ جَعَلْنَا مَنسَكًۭا لِّيَذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ مَا رَزَقَهُم مِّنۢ بَهِيمَةِ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمِ ۗ فَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌۭ وَٰحِدٌۭ فَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُخْبِتِينَ

⦿

And for every nation have We appointed a ritual, that they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He hath given them for food; and your god is One God, therefor surrender unto Him. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the humble,

For every nation We have appointed a rite so that they might mention Allah]s Name over the livestock He has provided them. Your God is the One God, so submit to Him. And give good news to the humble

⦿

To every nation We have given certain sacrificial rituals. Let them consecrate their sacrificial animals with His Name. Your God is One God and you must submit yourselves to His will. (Muhammad), give the glad news (of God's mercy) to the devoted servants of God:

And to every nation We appointed acts of devotion that they may mention the name of Allah on what He has given them of the cattle quadrupeds; so your god is One God, therefore to Him should you submit, and give good news to the humble,

For every people We have appointed rites of sacrifice, so that they may pronounce the name of God over the cattle which He has provided for them. Your God is One God; surrender yourselves to Him; and give good news to the humble

اور ہم نے ہر قوم کے لئے قربانی کا طریقہ مقرر کردیا ہے تاکہ جن جانوروں کا رزق ہم نے عطا کیا ہے ان پر نام خدا کا ذکر کریں پھر تمہارا خدا صرف خدائے واحد ہے تم اسی کے اطاعت گزار بنو اور ہمارے گڑگڑانے والے بندوں کو بشارت دے دو

ہر امّت کے لیے ہم نے قربانی کا ایک قاعدہ مقرر کر دیا ہے تاکہ (اُس امّت کے لوگ) اُن جانوروں پر اللہ کا نام لیں جو اُس نے اُن کو بخشے ہیں (اِن مختلف طریقوں کے اندر مقصد ایک ہی ہے) پس تمہارا خدا ایک ہی خدا ہے اور اُسی کے تم مطیع فرمان بنو اور اے نبیؐ، بشارت دے دے عاجزانہ رَوش اختیار کرنے والوں کو

اور ہر امت کے لیے ہم نے ایک قربانی مقرر فرمائی کہ اللہ کا نام لیں اس کے دیے ہوئے بے زبان چوپایوں پر تو تمہارا معبود ایک معبود ہے تو اسی کے حضور گردن رکھو اور اے محبوب خوشی سنادو ان تواضع والوں کو،

اور ہم نے ہر قوم کیلئے قربانی کا ایک طور طریقہ مقرر کیا ہے۔ تاکہ وہ ان چوپایوں پر (ذبح کے وقت) اللہ کا نام لیں، جو اس نے انہیں عطا کئے ہیں (الغرض) تمہارا اللہ ایک ہی ہے لہٰذا تم اس کی بارگاہ میں سر جھکاؤ اور ان عاجزی کرنے والوں کو خوشخبری دے دو۔

The Defence [ 22:35 ] الحج

ٱلَّذِينَ

The ones who

إِذَا

whenever

ذُكِرَ

remember

ٱللَّهُ

the One.

وَجِلَتْ

become fearful

قُلُوبُهُمْ

their hearts,

وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ

and the persevering

عَلَىٰ

upon

مَآ

what

أَصَابَهُمْ

befalls them,

وَٱلْمُقِيمِى

and those who establish

ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ

the united order,

وَمِمَّا

and from what

رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ

sustenance We give to them

يُنفِقُونَ

they distribute.

٢٢

٣٥

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ ٱللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَصَابَهُمْ وَٱلْمُقِيمِى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ

The ones who whenever remember the One. become fearful their hearts, and the persevering upon what befalls them, and those who establish the united order, and from what sustenance We give to them they distribute.

⦿

Whose hearts fear when Allah is mentioned, and the patient of whatever may befall them, and those who establish worship and who spend of that We have bestowed on them.

—those whose hearts tremble with awe when Allah is mentioned, and who are patient through whatever visits them, and who maintain the prayer and spend out of what We have provided them.

Those whose hearts are filled with awe on hearing about God, who exercise patience in hardships, who are steadfast in prayer, and who spend their property for the cause of God.

(To) those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned, and those who are patient under that which afflicts them, and those who keep up prayer, and spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.

whose hearts are filled with awe at the mention of God; who endure adversity with fortitude, say their prayers regularly and spend out of what We have given them.

جن کے سامنے ذکر خدا آتا ہے تو ان کے دل لرز جاتے ہیں اور وہ جو مصیبت پر صبر کرنے والے اور نماز قائم کرنے والے ہیں اور ہم نے جو رزق دیا ہے اس میں سے ہماری راہ میں خرچ کرنے والے ہیں

جن کا حال یہ ہے کہ اللہ کا ذکر سُنتے ہیں تو ان کے دل کانپ اٹھتے ہیں، جو مصیبت بھی اُن پر آتی ہے اُس پر صبر کرتے ہیں، نماز قائم کرتے ہیں، اور جو کچھ رزق ہم نے اُن کو دیا ہے اُس میں سے خرچ کرتے ہیں

کہ جب اللہ کا ذکر ہوتا ہے ان کے دل ڈرنے لگتے ہیں اور جو افتاد پڑے اس کے سنے والے اور نماز برپا رکھنے والے اور ہمارے دیے سے خرچ کرتے ہیں

کہ جب (ان کے سامنے) اللہ کا ذکر کیا جاتا ہے تو ان کے دل دھل جاتے ہیں۔ اور جو ان مصائب و آلام پر صبر کرنے والے ہیں جو انہیں پہنچتے ہیں اور جو پابندی سے نماز ادا کرتے ہیں۔ اور ہم نے انہیں جو کچھ عطا کیا ہے اس میں سے (راہ خدا میں) خرچ کرتے رہتے ہیں۔

وَٱلْبُدْنَ جَعَلْنَٰهَا لَكُم مِّن شَعَٰٓئِرِ ٱللَّهِ لَكُمْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌۭ ۖ فَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا صَوَآفَّ ۖ فَإِذَا وَجَبَتْ جُنُوبُهَا فَكُلُوا۟ مِنْهَا وَأَطْعِمُوا۟ ٱلْقَانِعَ وَٱلْمُعْتَرَّ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ سَخَّرْنَٰهَا لَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

And the camels! We have appointed them among the ceremonies of Allah. Therein ye have much good. So mention the name of Allah over them when they are drawn up in lines. Then when their flanks fall (dead), eat thereof and feed the beggar and the suppliant. Thus have We made them subject unto you, that haply ye may give thanks.

We have appointed for you the [sacrificial] camels as part of Allah]s sacraments. There is good for you in them. So mention the Name of Allah over them as they stand. And when they have fallen on their flanks, eat from them, and feed the self-contained needy and the mendicant. Thus have We disposed them for your benefit so that you may give thanks.

For you We have made the sacrificial camel one of the reminders of God. It also has other benefits for you. Consecrate it with the Name of God when it is steadily standing. When it is slaughtered, consume its flesh and give part of it to the needy who do and those do not ask for help from others. Thus We have made the camel subservient to you so that perhaps you may give thanks.

And (as for) the camels, We have made them of the signs of the religion of Allah for you; for you therein is much good; therefore mention the name of Allah on them as they stand in a row, then when they fall down eat of them and feed the poor man who is contented and the beggar; thus have We made them subservient to you, that you may be grateful.

We have appointed for you the sacrificial camels as one of the symbols set up by God, in which there is much good for you. اور (قربانی کے) اونٹوں کو ہم نے تمہارے لیے شعائر اللہ میں شامل کیا ہے، تمہارے لیے اُن میں بھَلائی ہے، پس انہیں کھڑا کر کے ان پر اللہ کا نام لو، اور جب (قربانی کے بعد) ان کی پیٹھیں زمین پر ٹک جائیں تو اُن میں سے خود بھی کھاؤ اور اُن کو بھی کھلاؤ جو قناعت کیے بیٹھے ہیں اور اُن کو بھی جو اپنی حاجت پیش کریں اِن جانوروں کو ہم نے اِس طرح تمہارے لیے مسخّر کیا ہے تاکہ تم شکریہ ادا کرو

اور قربانی کے ڈیل دار جانور اور اونٹ اور گائے ہم نے تمہارے لیے اللہ کی نشانیوں سے کیے تمہارے لیے ان میں بھلائی ہے تو ان پر اللہ کا نام لو ایک پاؤں بندھے تین پاؤں سے کھڑے پھر جب ان کی کروٹیں گرجائیں تو ان میں سے خود کھاؤ اور صبر سے بیٹھنے والے اور بھیک مانگنے والے کو کھلاؤ، ہم نے یونہی ان کو تمہارے بس میں دے دیا کہ تم احسان مانو،

لَن يَنَالَ ٱللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَآؤُهَا وَلَٰكِن يَنَالُهُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ مِنكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمْ لِتُكَبِّرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَىٰكُمْ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

Their flesh and their food reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth Him. Thus have We made them subject unto you that ye may magnify Allah that He hath guided you. And give good tidings (O Muhammad) to the good.

It is not their flesh or blood that reaches Allah; rather, it is your piety that reaches Him. Thus has He disposed them for your benefit so that you may magnify Allah for His guiding you. And give good news to the virtuous.

It is not the flesh and blood of your sacrifice that pleases God. What pleases God is your piety. God has made subservient to you the sacrificial animals so that perhaps you will glorify Him; He is guiding you. (Muhammad), give the glad news (of God's mercy) to the righteous people.

Lo! Allah defendeth those who are true. Lo! Allah loveth not each treacherous ingrate.

Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;

ٱلَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِم بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ إِلَّآ أَن يَقُولُوا۟ رَبُّنَا ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلنَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍۢ لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَٰمِعُ وَبِيَعٌۭ وَصَلَوَٰتٌۭ وَمَسَٰجِدُ يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ كَثِيرًۭا ۗ وَلَيَنصُرَنَّ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُۥٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَقَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ

Those who have been driven from their homes unjustly only because they said: Our Lord is Allah - For had it not been for Allah's repelling some men by means of others, cloisters and churches and oratories and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is oft mentioned, would assuredly have been pulled down. Verily Allah helpeth one who helpeth Him. Lo! Allah is Strong, Almighty -

—those who were expelled from their homes unjustly, only because they said, [Allah is our Lord.] Had not Allah repulsed the people from one another, ruin would have befallen the monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques in which Allah]s Name is much invoked. Allah will surely help those who help Him. Indeed Allah is all-strong, all-mighty.

to those who were unjustly expelled from their homes only because they said, [God is our Lord.] Had it not been for God's repelling some people through the might of the others, the monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which God is very often worshipped would have been utterly destroyed. God shall certainly help those who help Him. He is All-powerful and Majestic.

Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: Our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah's repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah's name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو اپنے گھروں سے ناحق نکال دیے گئے صرف اِس قصور پر کہ وہ کہتے تھے ——ہمارا رب اللہ ہے—— اگر اللہ لوگوں کو ایک دوسرے کے ذریعے دفع نہ کرتا رہے تو خانقاہیں اور گرجا اور معبد اور مسجدیں، جن میں اللہ کا کثرت سے نام لیا جاتا ہے، سب مسمار کر ڈالی جائیں اللہ ضرور اُن لوگوں کی مدد کرے گا جو اس کی مدد کریں گے اللہ بڑا طاقتور اور زبردست ہے

وہ جو اپنے گھروں سے ناحق نکالے گئے صرف اتنی بات پر کہ انہوں نے کہا ہمارا رب اللہ ہے اور اللہ اگر آدمیوں میں ایک کو دوسرے سے دفع نہ فرماتا تو ضرور ڈھادی جاتیں خانقاہیں اور گرجا اور کلیسے اور مسجدیں جن میں اللہ کا بکثرت نام لیا جاتا ہے، اور بیشک اللہ ضرور مدد فرمائے گا اس کی جو اس کے دین کی مدد کرے گا بیشک ضرور اللہ قدرت والا غالب ہے،

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.

Because the process must be transparent, the entire website is available for you to download. You can go through the code, and if you can make any improvements to this process, you are most welcome to. It is a humble request to update me regarding the improvements so I can also update myself.

Due Credits:

This website was possible by help of many people and forums who helped me to learn Arabic, Philosophy, Law, Psychology, and PHP and other Web scripts. To be honest, I do not even know the names of many but I did learn from them. Some of these people were already dead by the time I read their input.

The entire code of this website is available for the same reason, that what they taught me, I can only pay it forward.

The Arabic text of the Quran was obtained from Tanzil. The additional translations were also obtained from Tanzil from this link.
