وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةًۭ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَٰبِدِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We made them imams, guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them [concerning] the performance of good deeds, the maintenance of prayers, and the giving of zakat, and they used to worship Us. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; - Shakir, Habib

اور ہم نے اُن کو امام بنا دیا جو ہمارے حکم سے رہنمائی کرتے تھے اور ہم نے انہیں وحی کے ذریعہ نیک کاموں کی اور نماز قائم کرنے اور زکوٰۃ دینے کی ہدایت کی، اور وہ ہمارے عبادت گزار تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

اور ہم نے انہیں امام کیا کہ ہمارے حکم سے بلاتے ہیں اور ہم نے انہیں وحی بھیجی اچھے کام کرنے اور نماز برپا رکھنے اور زکوٰة دینے کی اور وہ ہماری بندگی کرتے تھے، - Ahmed Raza

وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ حُكْمًۭا وَعِلْمًۭا وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَٰٓئِثَ ۗ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍۢ فَٰسِقِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We gave judgement and knowledge to Lot, and We delivered him from the town which used to commit vicious acts. Indeed, they were an evil and depraved lot. - Qarai, Ali Quli

To Lot We gave knowledge and wisdom and saved him from the people of the town who were committing indecent acts. They were certainly a bad and sinful people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; - Shakir, Habib

اور لوط کو ہم نے حکومت اور علم دیا اور اسے اس بستی سے نجات بخشی جو گندے کام کرتی تھی بیشک وہ برُے لوگ بے حکم تھے، - Ahmed Raza

وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And Noah, when he cried of old, We heard his prayer and saved him and his household from the great affliction. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

اور یہی نعمت ہم نے نوحؑ کو دی یاد کرو جبکہ اِن سب سے پہلے اُس نے ہمیں پکارا تھا ہم نے اس کی دعا قبول کی اور اسے اور اس کے گھر والوں کو کرب عظیم سے نجات دی - Maududi, Abul A'ala

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍۢ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And delivered him from the people who denied Our revelations. Lo! they were folk of evil, therefor did We drown them all. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِى ٱلْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ ٱلْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَٰهِدِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And David and Solomon, when they gave judgment concerning the field, when people's sheep had strayed and browsed therein by night; and We were witnesses to their judgment. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

فَفَهَّمْنَٰهَا سُلَيْمَٰنَ ۚ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَيْنَا حُكْمًۭا وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ وَكُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And We made Solomon to understand (the case); and unto each of them We gave judgment and knowledge. And we subdued the hills and the birds to hymn (His) praise along with David. We were the doers (thereof). - Pickthall, Marmaduke

We gave its understanding to Solomon, and to each We gave judgement and knowledge. We disposed the mountains and the birds to glorify [Us] with David, and We have been the doer [of these things]. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We made Solomon understand the law about the case and gave both David and Solomon knowledge and wisdom. We made the mountains and birds glorify the Lord along with David. We had also done to him such favors before. - Sarwar, Muhammad

So We made Sulaiman to understand it; and to each one We gave wisdom and knowledge; and We made the mountains, and the birds to celebrate Our praise with Dawood; and We were the doers. - Shakir, Habib

پھر ہم نے سلیمان علیھ السّلام کو صحیح فیصلہ سمجھا دیا اور ہم نے سب کو قوت فیصلہ اور علم عطا کیا تھا اور داؤد علیھ السّلام کے ساتھ پہاڑوں کو لَسّخر کردیا تھا کہ وہ تسبیح پروردگار کریں اور طیور کو بھی لَسّخر کردیا تھا اور ہم ایسے کام کرتے رہتے ہیں - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اُس وقت ہم نے صحیح فیصلہ سلیمانؑ کو سمجھا دیا، حالانکہ حکم اور علم ہم نے دونوں ہی کو عطا کیا تھا داؤدؑ کے ساتھ ہم نے پہاڑوں اور پرندوں کو مسخّر کر دیا تھا جو تسبیح کرتے تھے، اِس فعل کے کرنے والے ہم ہی تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

And We taught him the art of making garments (of mail) to protect you in your daring. Are ye then thankful? - Pickthall, Marmaduke

وَلِسُلَيْمَٰنَ ٱلرِّيحَ عَاصِفَةًۭ تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا ۚ وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَٰلِمِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And unto Solomon (We subdued) the wind in its raging. It set by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are Aware. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And [We disposed] for Solomon the tempestuous wind which blew by his command toward the land which We have blessed, and We have knowledge of all things. - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَمِنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلًۭا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَٰفِظِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And of the evil ones (subdued We unto him) some who dived (for pearls) for him and did other work, and We were warders unto them. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Among the devils were some who dived for him and performed tasks other than that, and We were watchful over them. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We subdued the devils who would dive into the sea for him and perform other tasks for Solomon. We kept them in his service. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; - Shakir, Habib

اور شیاطین میں سے ہم نے ایسے بہت سوں کو اس کا تابع بنا دیا تھا جو اس کے لیے غوطے لگاتے اور اس کے سوا دُوسرے کام کرتے تھے ان سب کے نگران ہم ہی تھے - Maududi, Abul A'ala

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّۢ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَٰبِدِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers; - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So We answered his prayer and removed his distress, and We gave him [back] his family along with others like them, as a mercy from Us and an admonition for the devout. - Qarai, Ali Quli

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَٰضِبًۭا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And (mention) Dhu'n-Nun, when he went off in anger and deemed that We had no power over him, but he cried out in the darkness, saying: There is no Allah save Thee. Be Thou Glorified! Lo! I have been a wrong-doer. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

And [remember] the Man of the Fish, when he left in a rage, thinking that We would not put him to hardship. Then he cried out in the darkness, [There is no god except You! You are immaculate! I have indeed been among the wrongdoers!] - Qarai, Ali Quli

Dhun Nun went away in anger and thought that We would never have power over him, but in darkness he cried, [Lord, You are the Only God whom I glorify. I have certainly done wrong to myself (so forgive me)]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss. - Shakir, Habib

Remember the man in the whale [Jonah] when he went away in anger, thinking We had no power over him. But he cried out in the darkness, [There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! I was indeed wrong.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور یونس علیھ السّلامکو یاد کرو کہ جب وہ غصّہ میں آکر چلے اور یہ خیال کیا کہ ہم ان پر روزی تنگ نہ کریں گے اور پھر تاریکیوں میں جاکر آواز دی کہ پروردگار تیرے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے تو پاک و بے نیاز ہے اور میں اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرنے والوں میں سے تھا - Jawadi, Zeeshan

اور مچھلی والے کو بھی ہم نے نوازا یاد کرو جبکہ وہ بگڑ کر چلا گیا تھا اور سمجھا تھا کہ ہم اس پر گرفت نہ کریں گے آخر کو اُس نے تاریکیوں میں پکارا ——نہیں ہے کوئی خدا مگر تُو، پاک ہے تیری ذات، بے شک میں نے قصور کیا—— - Maududi, Abul A'ala

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ وَأَصْلَحْنَا لَهُۥ زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًۭا وَرَهَبًۭا ۖ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَٰشِعِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

Then We heard his prayer, and bestowed upon him John, and adjusted his wife (to bear a child) for him. Lo! they used to vie one with the other in good deeds, and they cried unto Us in longing and in fear, and were submissive unto Us. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

So We answered his prayer, and gave him John, and cured for him his wife [of infertility]. Indeed, they were active in [performing] good works, and they would supplicate Us with eagerness and awe and were humble before Us. - Qarai, Ali Quli

We answered his prayer and granted him his son, John, by making his wife fruitful. They were people who would compete with each other in good deeds and pray to Us with love and reverence. With Us they were all humble people. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌۭ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَٰتِبُونَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]
⦿
Then whoso doeth some good works and is a believer, there will be no rejection of his effort. Lo! We record (it) for him. - Pickthall, Marmaduke

Whoever is faithful and does righteous deeds, his endeavour shall not go unappreciated, and We will indeed record it for him. - Qarai, Ali Quli

The reward of the righteously striving believers will not be neglected. We are keeping the record of their good deeds. - Sarwar, Muhammad

Therefore whoever shall do of good deeds and he is a believer, there shall be no denying of his exertion, and surely We will write (It) down for him. - Shakir, Habib

وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ مِّنْ هَٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated] [untranslated]

And the True Promise draweth nigh; then behold them, staring wide (in terror), the eyes of those who disbelieve! (They say): Alas for us! We (lived) in forgetfulness of this. Ah, but we were wrong-doers! - Pickthall, Marmaduke

and the true promise draws near [to its fulfillment], behold, the faithless will look on with a fixed gaze: [Woe to us! We have certainly been oblivious of this! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers!] - Qarai, Ali Quli

The Day of Judgment will then draw near and the unbelievers will stare amazedly and cry, [Woe to us! We had neglected this day. We have done wrong]. - Sarwar, Muhammad

And the true promise shall draw nigh, then lo! the eyes of those who disbelieved shall be fixedly open: O woe to us! surely we were in a state of heedlessness as to this; nay, we were unjust. - Shakir, Habib

when the true promise of God draws near, those who denied the truth will stare in amazement, crying, [Woe to us! We have been so heedless of this. Indeed, we were wrongdoers.] - Wahiduddin Khan

اور اللہ کا سچا وعدہ قریب آجائے گا تو سب دیکھیں گے کہ کفار کی آنکھیں پتھرا گئی ہیں اور وہ کہہ رہے ہیں کہ وائے بر حال ماہم اس طرف سے بالکل غفلت میں پڑے ہوئے تھے بلکہ ہم اپنے نفس پر ظلم کرنے والے تھے - Jawadi, Zeeshan
