قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍۢ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ

Moses said unto them: Woe unto you! Invent not a lie against Allah, lest He extirpate you by some punishment. He who lieth faileth miserably.

Moses said to them, [Woe to you! Do not fabricate lies against Allah, or He will obliterate you with a punishment. Whoever fabricates lies certainly fails.]

Moses told them, (the magicians) [Woe to you if you invent falsehood against God; you will be destroyed by the torment. Whoever invents falsehood against God will certainly be lost.]

فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ

Then they debated one with another what they must do, and they kept their counsel secret.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلْمُثْلَىٰ

They said: Lo! these are two wizards who would drive you out from your country by their magic, and destroy your best traditions;

فَأَجْمِعُوا۟ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ٱئْتُوا۟ صَفًّۭا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْيَوْمَ مَنِ ٱسْتَعْلَىٰ

So arrange your plan, and come in battle line. Whoso is uppermost this day will be indeed successful.

He said: Nay, do ye throw! Then lo! their cords and their staves, by their magic, appeared to him as though they ran.

He said, [No, you throw first.] Thereupon, behold, their ropes and staffs appeared to him by their magic to wriggle swiftly.

موسیٰؑ نے کہا ——نہیں، تم ہی پھینکو—— یکایک اُن کی رسّیاں اور اُن کی لاٹھیاں اُن کے جادو کے زور سے موسیٰؑ کو دَوڑتی ہوئی محسوس ہونے لگیں

موسیٰ نے کہا بلکہ تمہیں ڈالو جبھی ان کی رسیاں اور لاٹھیاں ان کے جادو کے زور سے ان کے خیال میں دوڑتی معلوم ہوئیں

Throw that which is in thy right hand! It will eat up that which they have made. Lo! that which they have made is but a wizard's artifice, and a wizard shall not be successful to whatever point (of skill) he may attain.

Then the wizards were (all) flung down prostrate, crying: We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses.

Now surely I shall cut off your hands and your feet alternately, and I shall crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and ye shall know for certain which of us hath sterner and more lasting punishment.

فرعون نے کہا —— تم ایمان لے آئے قبل اس کے کہ میں تمہیں اس کی اجازت دیتا؟ معلوم ہو گیا کہ یہ تمہارا گرو ہے جس نے تمہیں جادوگری سکھائی تھی اچھا، اب میں تمہارے ہاتھ پاؤں مخالف سمتوں سے کٹواتا ہوں اور کھجور کے تنوں پر تم کو سُولی دیتا ہوں پھر تمہیں پتہ چل جائے گا کہ ہم دونوں میں سے کس کا عذاب زیادہ سخت اور دیر پا ہے—— (یعنی میں تمہیں زیادہ سخت سزا دے سکتا ہوں یا موسیٰؑ)

This website is a work of passion. It exists only for a couple of reasons:

1) I wanted to understand the Book without involving any second-party sources of guidance i.e. exegesis, or Asbab-e-Nuzul, or extra-Quranic ahadith, etc.
2) You must also know what the bare truth is, so we can work together.
